These headphones Sennheiser HD 202 are great. Super comfortable and sound quality is awesome. They are a little more bass heavy but if you don't mind it then its cool. These are what I take whenever I go out, for 20$ I dont have to worry too much about them taking a beating. They have gotten a little bit looser over time when I compared them to a brand new pair. But without comparing them, they still fit snug with no complaints. Once these go out, I would buy another pair for my casually on the go listening.
I use these at gigs and when I'm at home and really want quality (Ultrasone DJ1 Pro). These are really really awesome in sound quality aspect. But that comes with a price, 150$. Unlike the above 202's these are heavier and more bulky so I don't take them on the go for casual listening. But when I'm at home or at a show they are great. The only downside is that they are pretty damn big. They don't fit as snug as the 202's but it is a different type of fit. The 202's land on top of my ears and these completely surround your ears. If I bob my head too much they might slip off. Sound wise, they sound great. They are more flat on the spectrum so I believe they have higher fidelity and sound closer to what the original mastered tracked was intended to be.
Those are the two main headphones I can really speak for by having owned them for some time now. They are both great for their prices but have different uses. Liek you said if you dont care about bulky and want quality sound, the DJI pros are the way to go. There are also DJ1s but I believe those emphasize the bass more, like the 202s, which isn't really a good thing (depending what you want). I believe the producer masters a track to what he thinks sounds best at and what it's suppose to be heard at. When you start getting too much of a certain frequency, it will throw the balance off on the song and what is was intended to be heard at. But if your a "I love bass/give me more" type of guy, what ever floats your boat and ears.Stay away from in ear headphones. Stay away from Bose/Skullcandy/Beats/Dre. Sennheisser is a quality brand. There are many good headphones out there, these are the two I can speak for.
Edit: To add to the DJ1 pros, the speakers inside are angled at a certain way to work with the acoustics in your ears. I don't know exactly how this works with the acoustics, but the speaker inside the headphone isnt just pointing straight foward into your ear like most headphones.
Hey. If you are looking for the best sound but want to spend $20.00 check these out.

Their made by Sennheiser. I have had these for almost 3 years now. Still works great and I have beaten them up (multiple bike wrecks, snowboarding, ect.)
The bass is ok and the highs are ok too. My favorite part about these is the mid frequencies. They sound really rich and it makes dubstep and electronica sound great.
If you go to a lot of shows and you're not wearing ear protection, than it's kind of your own fault. I'm not saying you deserve it, but you should know better. I bought a pair of these and its like the best ten bucks I've ever spent.
Try Skream. Right now, you must listen to Bahl Fwd by skream, thank me later, it must be the deepest bass I've heard in a song, make sure to turn it up. Also try checking out Badklaat, Kromestar, AD, Megalodon, there's more but I can't remember off the top of my head, I'll look if you're interested.
Also, for sure get an amp. It will make a very noticeable difference and for not much money. I have a pair of M Audio Q40's that I thought didn't have as much bass as everyone claimed, was about to return them, but then i tried a Fiio E11. Make sure to also check out Head-Fi.org
It's not dubstep, but Come On My Selector by Squarepusher has the line "let the bass kick". It's an actual bass guitar though. I linked you to the part where the line is spoken, but you should watch the entire video because it's really fun. It was directed by Chris Cunningham who did a few videos for Aphex Twin. You should check out all the videos that were featured on his Director's Series DVD. Great stuff.
The AKG K240 Studio Headphones are a steal at $80. I've had mine for two years so far. They are one of the best pairs of headphones you can buy before you get into the high impedance models that require a headphone amp. I can wear them all day unlike other headphones. They have a spring loaded band that rests on your head and puts the cups in the exact right place over your ears while resting the weight of them on the top rather than the sides of your head.
tl;dr these studio headphones are amazing, comfortable, and a good deal.
thats great that you found out about dubstep. However, skrillex is actually the WORST artist out there. so look anywhere else and youll see some good stuff! with that in mind, theres alof of crap posted on here. you'll wanna stick to the classics
Grab these to start, got a good variety of styles and none of the crap
THIS IS DUBSTEP thats the most recent but the 2011, and vol 1 / 2 are good as well.
100% Pure dubstep - by hatcha, one of the dopest djs period. get both vol 1 and 2.
FabricLIVE 37 - Caspa & Rusko CLASSIC album. gives you an idea what was going on a few years ago, and contains some classics
also be sure to lock into GetDarker every tuesday afternoon to catch live sets from the hottest upcoming artists!
Looks like a great release.
This is what I'm most excited for, assuming there is any truth to it. Digital Mystikz - Return II Space as a digital release.
Upvotes for Klipsch 2.1 systems. I got one last year for college because my home system was to big to bring. It hits pretty hard for dubstep, and the sound quality of the drivers are great as well.
A little bit above your 100 dollar mark, but the extra 50 is well worth it. I was actually surprised Klipsch made a system this inexpensive.

I had no idea what do get really but the reviews looked good and they do sound amazing.
Ooh! Koss Portapros would be perfect. A big thing I noticed when I put them on was the great bass response.
Fucking love my Shure-440's.
$90 right now
Also, get these if you can as they are way more comfortable
If you can save up get this. http://www.amazon.com/BIC-America-F12-475-Watt-Subwoofer/dp/B0015A8Y5M/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1334285971&sr=8-7. I have it myself and it shakes my house. Completely amazing with Dubstep.
I have a pair of Shure S440's that I got as a gift and I love them. You can get them on amazon for around $90 bucks.
I'm definitely happy with my Grado.
Here are some great earplugs that are relatively cheap. They don't ruin the sound quality either, just bring the volume down.

$100 isn't going to take you very far, DJ equipment is notoriously expensive as fuck, and you get what you put in
This is a pretty good option and I've heard good things about it
http://www.amazon.com/Hercules-DJ-4780474-Console-RMX/dp/B0018CEOA6
I have the Sennheiser PX 100-II which are nice, cheap and have almost too much emphasis on the bass end.
I would recommend (in order of price) the Koss PortaPro, Grado SR 60 or Sennheiser HD 25-1 II
Also check http://www.head-fi.org/
listen to this album
also check out skream, benga and digital mystikz.
thats what got me into dubstep. enjoy.
Good ones that dont muffle the sound http://www.amazon.com/Etymotic-Research-ETY-Plugs-Protection-Earplugs/dp/B0044DEESS
I think its between the Sony MDR-7505 and the Shure 440. Which do u recommend?
Get yourself some high end headphones. Doesn't need to be ludicrously expensive, just made by a company that knows what it's doing. I myself got these for when no one else in the house wants to hear my dubstep :P They're very good.
