I know it has already been answered, but I'll double down and say, YES! Just to expand on the point:

I have a few devices that are wired-only, and the ports on the eeros allowed me to get rid of my Powerline Ethernet adapters. This freed up a power plug at my "main" area that has my modem, gateway eero, tv, and numerous other devices.

I have an OTA box (SimpleTV) that is ethernet-only, and it's in a completely different room, attached (now) to a leaf eero. Getting that thing off of powerline ethernet vastly increased the speed/quality when streaming from the SimpleTV.

Also, you're not limited to just two ports on the eero. You can get an ethernet switch/hub and expand it that way. Something like this, for example.

I have an 8-port on my gateway eero that has: TV, PS4, Xbox One, NAS, FireTV...and it works just fine.

Are you looking for managed or unmanaged switch?

Among the unmanaged switch, I think D-Link 8-Port Unmanaged Gigabit (GO-SW-8G) ($20) closely matches the aesthetics of Eero. Well, within the low expectation of how switches are expected to look.

I use the managed version of NETGEAR 8-port Unmanaged (GS908) ($27), which also looks decent, and it has the benefit of cable management (provided your Ethernet cables aren't too thick). I use more expensive managed version because I like to cap the bandwidth of certain devices.

TP-Link that many are recommending is also very nice, but all my routers and smart home hubs are white, so I filtered my selection to white.

Other options I wonder is: What is your Internet provider?

If it is cable and you have other coax outlets in your house you should be able to move the modem with no problem. If you get TV from the same provider you should be able to buy a coax splitter to split the signal so that both your TV and your cable modem can still plug in.

In terms of the beacons I would definitely play with them to see where you get the best speed. You can use the app to determine how good the general signal is to the beacons and see which devices are connected to which eero. This way you can test the speeds at the different placements.

Although i liked my provided eero network cables i ended up using these which worked out wonderfully.

Cat 6 Ethernet Cable White 3 ft ( 6 Pack ) - Flat Internet Network Cable - Jadaol Cat6 Ethernet Patch Cable Short - Cat6 Computer Lan Cable With Snagless RJ45 Connectors - 3 feet White ( 6 Pack ) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01IQWGRPU/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_Re0fAb879WQVT

Dont remeber if i bought them at Amazon or monoprice. I found that eero' s ethernet cables were a bit stiff for some applications.

Alright, this is getting a bit suspicious. I think there might be new eero hardware coming soon? Please put on your tin foil hats…

  1. Discounts at both Target and Best Buy (see previous discussion)
  2. Some Amazon listings only have a few left in stock - eero with beacon and three pack
  3. Longer time between software updates

    (anything I missed?)

If you have ubiquitous cable coax receptacles, you can easily wire all your eeros together using MoCA:

I've got these in my home and they make a perfect backbone for my 3 eeros.

I use Wireless HDMI extensively to push streaming simultaneously to 3 outdoor TV's. Works flawlessly.

Try using this, as it works perfectly.

Good luck, I'm running on one of these if the VM idea doesn't fix your NIC issue.

u/susandennis · 1 pointr/eero

Ok I know it's tacky to 'solution' your own question but maybe someone else might be interested. I just remembered a gadget I used to have... PogoPlug and it's still around $16. Will do just what I want.

u/Raev_ · 2 pointsr/eero

I'm using three of these in my apartment and they are really great tbh.

I recently went with an Arris SB8200 modem, this is on Comcast’s supported list and since it’s DOCSIS 3.1 you should be good for a while. SB8200

u/wlburgess · 2 pointsr/eero

I use this switch and it works great.

edit: this was supposed to be a reply to the switch recommendation.

u/jobe_br · 2 pointsr/eero

I have the previous gen of this on all my Eeros. Has been great when we’ve had the occasional outage.

Yeah, I thought this was for eeros, but the comment would be the same for cameras.

Something like this.

u/CBrunelle · 3 pointsr/eero

I have 3 Gen 2 eero’s using PoE+. I got the adapters from eero. I purchased the following Gigabit Port with PoE from Amazon, and it’s worked perfectly with no issues.

These would also help with flexible placement if you do the pro pack on Black Friday (which I would do for the money). You probably know this already, but Amazon sells eero gen 2 refurbs for ~$120 from time to time. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JF6SKRW/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

The latest released eeros are not same as original eeros. The insides are identical to eero beacon that is sold with eero pro.

The Netgears are rock solid.

I've got a 16 port plugged into my gateway eero, no issues whatsoever with anything plugged into it.

From a regulatory standpoint, Eero complies to FCC / US specifications but in the UK channel 149 to 161 are DFS which Eero does not support, and I wouldn’t be surprised if power levels do not match either. You may not care, but this is a major reason why they don’t sell here. Recent UK devices would work though (149~161 got allowed in the UK a year-ish ago, in the rest of Europe that band is still disallowed) but again you would technically be breaking the law.

About aesthetics: you are going to have a hard time with beacons so I would recommend only regular Eeros. They have refurb where these are $120 (£95 plus tax I would assume) each and unsurprisingly do not ship to the UK (you would need someone to carry these over):
