Where are you getting $4000? These drives cost 1/4 that. Plus you don't need 1TB versions, or the PRO versions, nor do you need two for Raid 0. This setup is obviously built with more than Factorio in mind.

1.9GB/s writes for $117: https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-960-EVO-Internal-MZ-V6E500BW/dp/B01LYFKX41?th=1

That will easily be fast enough to move the bottleneck to your CPU. If you don't have a M2 slot, you'd have to buy a PCI-E card.

I'd suggest getting something like this and just binding the function keys to WASD controls: http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-G600-Gaming-Mouse-Black/dp/B0086UK7IQ

Has anyone played Factorio on their laptops? I was thinking about getting the Acer Swift 5, but I'm not sure if it will be able to run Factorio well.
I'm not sure if a dedicated graphics card would be necessary or if the integrated graphics would be able to run it.

So the suit battery holds 200 MJ, and a personal laser defense uses 200 kJ per shot. So a single suit battery would hold enough power for 1000 shots.

1000 shots would be overkill. 20 shots is more realistic, so something 1/50th the size of a suit battery.

Even with current battery tech we've got portable 100 kWh batteries, which is a little bigger than the suit battery.

So assuming the power for the laser defense is correct (which seems unlikely) a battery powered laser pistol would be fairly realistic.

Also keep in mind that the tech used on the planet is probably far less than the tech the society would have. Metal-acid batteries don't have to be the only type of battery.

I recommend another of his books, Outland. He needs to add more to the series but it seem to not be happening until after the Bender books.

I can't really guess that well...

For reference, I have this laptop (if you could bear to forego mac...you can get so much more for your money, but I understand if you don't want to).

Now, just glancing at the specs, it looks like your CPU might actually perform better than mine since Factorio doesn't use multiple cores that much from my understanding. For reference, I don't start seeing UPS drops until I scale up reasonably high; I first hit them going for the 20M circuits achievement when I had 32+ (hopefully my memory isn't exaggerating here...) belts of ore coming in constantly.

The graphics card is obviously going to be worse, but Factorio doesn't hit it too hard so I wouldn't worry much.

Multiplayer should be more network based...and I'm not sure why Bob's would hurt it. I wonder if the game caches all possible sprites in your vram? That might explain it...and then you'd want at a better gpu (that's pure speculation though).

Well I'm no expert, I mean I still have trouble with my game-playing and my nail-tearing and my distractions (typing this at work, the irony), so by all means do what works for you :). Distancing yourself from the game (by vowing not to play today, by uninstalling it, by unsubbing from /r/factorio, etc) is a totally fine strategy. To me though, the end goal is only indirectly to limit how many games I play; it's more about feeling control over how I play, so I can choose whether I play for 4 hours, or 30 minutes, or not at all, based on whatever else is going on in my life. That way if I hit some stressful or unhappy times or something I'm not gonna cave and fall back into bad habits.

The Willpower Instinct is a fantastic book on habit-breaking in general; I'd recommend taking a read!

On that topic, I have a couple of these adapters, both ends are metal and the cable is braided, nice little adapters.
There's also smaller variants if preferred, these ones seem to be rated well on Amazon.

Only downside to both of these devices is that you can't charge your phone and use it at the same time. So if I fall asleep with my USB headset plugged into my phone, it will kill the battery. Android properly recognizes and lets me use a USB audio device, however it tries to "charge" the device and constantly pushes power to it, eventually depleting the battery.

If you wanted to be able to charge your device while using USB devices, this looks like it can get the job done.

Well I didn't post a full on build photo set as it is Factorio and not PCMR or Build A PC.

The PSU is a Corsair. So I got that covered too. Frankly I am a bit of a Corsair fanboy. Everything from them I have purchased I have been pleased with.

Sure, The Science Lab is cake made with half of one of These. The Assembly machine is two layers of cake. I made a 9x13 cake and cut two squares that were about the same size as the base of the science lab and stacked them. From the leftover pieces of cake I made the bodies and arms of the inserters. The transport belt and science packs are pure frosting.

It's a Rite in the Rain Tactical They're relatively expensive for a pad. Sturdy though
