Ok - so you're wanting to stick with the pieces you have. You said in another comment you're thrifty (me too!) and not wanting to spend much, so here's what I'd do:

Right now the dark pieces seem very harsh in the room. I'd embrace the theme of the natural wood accents, and tie in your black pieces by adding in some other natural textures! I was bored/procrastinating and did up a (very choppy) photoshop of what I would do with the space. Here you go! I edited out the clutter just for the sake of the design.

I'd love to see some sort of curtain (beaded?) in front of the vanity to make it feel like a more cohesive room. I think something like this would look really cool, although it's a bit pricy. This is more affordable. You could DIY the circles from the UO one if you like them, I'm sure!

I agree with the other poster about mounting the guitars to the wall and storing the stand.

I would make some dowel frames for your map, and hang it above the mirror. I'd also make a few smaller black and white cardstock prints at Staples (cost you about fifty cents or less per page), do the same with the frames, and stack them vertically along the space of the wall beside your closet door.

Are you crafty? You might be able to make a diffuser shade for your 'boob' light like these folks did.

I'd recommend going to Home Depot / Walmart etc and getting a couple more plants, and putting them in terra cotta pots (they're pretty inexpensive).

I would also get a few baskets and put them on the middle shelf of your bookshelf, to break up the lines and make it less overwhelming to look at.

I would get something for your makeup table to contain your makeup so it looks less cluttered.

Heres some pieces similar to what I photoshopped in that you could pick up on on a budget, but a lot of them could be thrifted if you like hunting!

Beaded Curtain

Lamp Shade

Guitar wall mounts

Linen textured curtains

Basket for makeup brushes

Baskets for shelf organization

I can't see what's going on in your bed area, but if you like my suggestions, I'd be happy to make more recommendations if you post a picture!

So maybe the quality can vary or some people get duds, but we have this zinus frame and we have loved it. It’s been esp great since we are renters that move occasionally, often in older homes where the stairs can limit what goes up them. We’ve never had squeaking. Put a bed skirt on it and storage tubs for out of season clothes and extra bedding.

We were tight on funds then and still are. I imagine someday we will upgrade to something prettier, but maybe not until we have our permanent home. I’ve thought about finding a headboard I liked to add to it. For now it’s been pretty practical.

you've started a great set-up, you just need to add some plants, like beside your bed and some wall arts like above the headboard like this one or you can have a custom one, as long as you love looking it every day, by the way, I love lamp, and you can add on the side of your bed like this one here, you can add also your lamp on the left side, you can also decorate your mirror with lights. like in here

by the way, what's the purpose of metal storage beside your window?

I might be too late here, but these are a few pics of an install that I did for a friend's girlfriend: Picture 1, Picture 2, Picture 3.

We added a deep wooden shelf above the TV for the game consoles, wireless router, and cable modem. It is 12 inches deep, and 12 inches longer on each side of the TV. The red superimposed lines are Legrand 1inch/25mm surface mounted cable conduit which direct the cables UP to the shelf and also route the coaxial cable for TV/internet. You need to bore a 2-inch hole in the board to route cables, which will then use a grommet to dress up the hole.

The green "box" behind the TV is a surge protector that supplies power to the TV and the electronics above. It drops out of the conduit and attaches to the Echogear articulated TV wall mount. Basically, we used the back of the TV to hide the cable octopus. You need to fit an organize these cables as you see fit, [laying them flat and parallel is the most efficient use of space].

Since we moved the electronics up to the self, the lower cabinetry we used for decorations.

Your window design looks European, so I don't know how studs and wall construction works there. But it seems like a pretty close match in area and layout as B's studio corner. Good luck!

Ugh your taste is pretty spot on with mine. I love your rug and the dark wood tv stand in contrast with the white wall and the chair and plant, everything! I actually think it is really beautiful as is since the macrame is so big and grand, anything around it might make it look too cluttered? But if you really do want to add something, I think some air plants in these cute wall planters would be really cute!

I can confirm the Amazon fuzzy blankets that OP refers to are awesome. I just got two of them and other than one smelling like shipping chemicals through a couple of washes, they’re great. My cats are surprisingly “meh” about them, even the one who loves fuzzy blankets. But they mostly prefer non-fuzzy blankets like flannel and microfiber instead.

You’re welcome!

I bought them from Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073NSLNXH

I bought three 10 packs of the 12x12 totaling about $100 at the time. I live in a townhouse myself so I didn’t need a lot, that gave me just enough to have extra in case I messed up. Amazon seems to have some cheaper ones now though, just search “peel and stick subway tile” to bring them up. Maybe if you can find one that’s not quite so sticky you’ll be okay.

Honestly, if you are in love with the aesthetic I would do it. It makes me smile to see something I love that I did myself.

Similarly, if you usually use your laptop at your desk, an independent keyboard and a monitor riser will let you have a lot more ergonomic control and make things more comfortable. Looking down at a screen gets uncomfortable quick!

Maybe something like: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0722SKV38/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_NL0mDbTYHYSWE

Or for a laptop stand (and I like the rose gold idea to keep it a little less monochromatic): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01I407G7W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_NN0mDb6PD7SXE

This will also help add a bit more height to the whole set up - good for your neck and should look good too!

Super cute though, I'm a little jealous. My desk is very functional, and not nearly as fun to look at...

I agree with everyone else saying the curtains would be better higher up, and floor-length. But I actually really like the floral Black & White bedding paired with the green - I think if you kept everything else solid and stuck to that color palette, you could easily have a really cool, zen room! I would add some minimalist Black & White canvas prints to fill the space above the bed, something like something like this, could even be DIY’id, a solid-colored knit rug, and then some green throw pillows to tie the curtains in with the bedding.

I like the idea of a grey sectional, and think a yellow accent chair and yellow and blue throw pillows would really brighten up the place. If you go yellow, find matching curtains. Curtains are a must!!

Edited to include links:

I got this cat tower on Amazon. My cat absolutely loves it and it’s not ugly: cat condo

Also, I have this litter box, which you might want to check out to see if it would be good to keep the dog out: cat box

I'm pretty sure I have the same one. I got it from Amazon here. it looks like it's no longer available, but I'm sure there are similar ones you can find! It was pretty inexpensive, like less than $40.

u/hyperRed13 · 9 pointsr/femalelivingspace

I bought this a few years ago and have been pretty happy with it: [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IKBL2ZS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_3rT6CbHY8H8QF].

It's over your budget, but as others have stated, it's risky to go cheap on a work chair you plan to use for hours at a time.

Another option if you're not looking specifically for an office style desk chair might be an upholstered Parsons dining chair or similar. They're nice and cushy, and you can find fairly basic ones at reasonable prices on Amazon, Wayfair, and sometimes at thrift and second hand stores.

Thanks! Hmm, I don't particularly like that floral pattern (pattern is too big and too modern) but it's giving me something to think about. I haven't really considered getting a floral rug but I think it could work. Maybe more of an antique vibe...

Do you think a traditional style rug would fit my room? Like maybe something similar to
