Thanks for the advice! I've decided that buying one online is the way to go, since I'm not skilled in carpentry. I found a [deal on Amazon]( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07KK7JCGV?pf_rd_p=76bd99fd-409f-46a4-9ff6-b66b5703e95b&pf_rd_r=7G2056413EGFJAJTA8WA) that seems to have everything I want. I looked at the details of it, but the problem is that it only has one 5-star review that could easily be made by the manufacturer/seller. Do you think this is a good deal for someone who wants to play with friends, but still wants to use a couple of pro tricks? I'd like to get another perspective if you don't mind.

I really got hooked on building something like this. I've some experience in woodworking, so that shouldn't be a problem, apart from being precise (any tips?). Since I'm from Denmark, I won't be able to use the US amazon, so I tried to find some of the parts on the UK Amazon + Gallando's website.

Will these parts work out:

Rods

Bearings

Men

And possibly, Handles

I'm not going for high-end/tournament build. I couldn't find any other bearings beside Tornado which were really expensive and Gallando's own, which weren't that cheap either.

What kind of surface are you using and is it working out well?

Thanks in regards!

Not sure what make the table is, but I also have 5/8 " diameter rods and a 1" thick wall. The first set of bearings I ordered had a bevel on the end, which would have required that I make one end of each hole larger on the outside to allow for the bevel. Image for reference <- Don't get these.

The second ones I ordered were the right diameter, but are only 1-sided and require screws for mounting and would look like crap from one side. Link for reference

I just want plain old double sided 5/8" bearings without a bevel. I thought it would be super easy to find these, but a year later I'm still looking.

Our table at work sees a lot of use and the wraps don't last long. I switched to some heat-shrink tubing I got off amazon which is lasting incredibly long by comparison but doesn't give quite as good grip.

35mm in case the link doesn't go direct to that selection.

Haven't used antihydral or anything on our hands, but we pretty much solved the sweaty hand/handle problem with wraps, something similar to these

Alternatives would be:
Used version for $250

this for $199
or sportcraft & sportcraft pic 2 for $40. It has a couple of broken rings (where the poles go through)

My budget is under $500 and I am just a casual player.

I have done a lot of reading here and other foosball sites. It seems the sportcraft is a bad buy no matter the price. I am not sure about the brand or model or condition of the $199 one. The one I linked to seems like a good buy. It has cup holders, counter weighted players, side ball retrieve. I hope you guys can pass along some good advice!

WD-40 is not a lubricant, it is a solvent. It should not be used on foosball bearings. You should be using a silicon based lubricant like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Foosball-Rod-Lubricant-Silicone-Essential/dp/B01KJMDLIQ

u/helloiamCLAY · 1 pointr/foosball

Ah, okay.

No, I meant an actual small tripod like this that you'd just set up next to the table.

And it doesn't really matter if the other players agree to it. You just set it up at the end of the table where a spectator would stand. Only the tournament director can rule that you're not allowed to use it (and that won't happen).

Well I might be 10 days late with my answer, but in germany a furniture polish called "Pronto" is used to lubricate.

Seems like it is called "Pledge" in the US.

https://www.amazon.com/Pledge-960336-Furniture-Spray-Fresh-275/dp/B07C5WXTQQ/

It's way better than silicon lubricant and it even gets the dust out of your bearings. I'm not sure though, if the american pledge is exactly the same as the european version, so here is a link to german amazon:

https://www.amazon.de/Pronto-Möbelpflege-Spray-Holzflächen-90-iger-Allergenbeseitigung/dp/B006UNCXEM/

Using it for about 6 years now, have been using silicon based for about 1-2 years before, no damage on my bearings.

Edit: It's a foam that comes out of this bottle, the size of a pea is enough for each side and rod. Spray it on the rod outside of the table or else you'll get a very slippery table

This is it. My mom got it for my dad as a present.

Also, I'm quickly realizing I know very little about foosball.

If you want to develop a very fast pull shot for yourself, I wrote a book on Pull Shot shooting called "Anatomy of a Pull Shot". The book is for sale on Amazon. It has a sections on developing pull shot speed, accuracy, power, focus/concentration. It uses eye hand coordination and kinesthetic senses to train your shots. Amazon will let you look inside the book.

If you want to add a fake move first, try to practice setting up the ball in the pull shot starting position, then circle the ball clockwise, in a push shot type of motion. It seems wrong but when you move to your shot motion, you will naturally grab the ball to shoot your fast long pull shot. This will also develop your wrist muscles. Circle the ball clockwise several times then shoot a long pull shot immediately.
