CarBridge is a tweak for jailbroken iPhones. It lets you run nearly any app over CarPlay. It also lets you adjust the number of icons on the CarPlay home screen. I just got it up and running tonight so I’m still playing around with it. I wasn’t able to get PS4 Remote Play working but Splashtop works perfectly so I can access my desktop PC from my car stereo, which is awesome. I'm totally going to Photoshop something using Sync 3 haha. YouTube was my primary reason for installing CarBridge but the Xfinity app and VLC also work great. Looking forward to being able to watch live TV and even recordings from my DVR while I’m stuck in traffic.

A few others I tried are weather radar, iMessages that let you actually see the messages, the camera app, and an OBDII app that communicates with my ELM327 Wi-Fi OBDII reader. Now that I know it works I’m going to choose an app that shows gauges (those all cost money) so I can see stuff like oil pressure, boost, voltage, etc. when I’m running the car hard. Oh, and of course, Apollo for Reddit works as it should.

All the apps perform quickly and the image actually looks pretty crisp and detailed in person. These pics aren't doing it justice (had to use my iPad) but I was really impressed by how sharp it was when I used 720 or 1080 resolution in YouTube. I also highly recommend this glass screen protector to improve the look and feel of the screen. It’s like a night and day difference vs the fingerprint magnet plastic factory touchscreen. Much less glare too.

The one downside I noticed is that Sync 3 doesn't support multi-touch but overall I’m really happy with the results. Well worth the $4.99 for CarBridge. Let me know if you can think of any other apps that would be fun to try.

This page is showing up on google results now :] Thanks for your detailed response!

Here are some answers I've found:

  1. L-Drive puts on full-regen when your foot isn't on the gas. If the HV battery is full, it uses the engine in air-compression mode to achieve a similar engine break. This is by far the fastest way to charge your vehicle, though not the most efficient. If you put it in L and tap the breaks at all, it reduces your breaking efficiency, so from this I'm pretty sure regenerative breaks are the electric motor regening. edit; this is a good way to learn to judge the regen-breaks capability. I think it's in maximum, electric (regen) deceleration in L, when your foot is off the pedal.

  2. The charging port allows for a maximum of 16a, 3.3kwh - however the battery can accept a charge of 145a and ..1305kwh?

  3. There are a distinct set of 'driver' controls and options in the left cluster menu - personalizing keys, auto unlocking and more are all available here.

  4. My car does not have front radar :(

  5. The Personal Key I mentioned which supposedly increased driving efficiency is for the MyFord Mobile app. It allows you to have two drivers which gain their own, unique scores.

  6. I'm hoping that I can pull apart the center console enough to insert the ground effects I want - I also want to tie into the DC jack on the under side of the console, so my console isn't packed.

  7. Side damage is bound to happen, if I can just accept that and keep it confined to the lower side skirting, I'll be golden. The side skirting does replace very readily - you can order the year and color from ford for $125 per side.

  8. All available tax credits are tracked by the government, here: http://www.afdc.energy.gov/fuels/laws/ELEC

    --

  9. Subwoofers: On the SE package, you can see where the sub on the TIT package would be. Aftermarket, it looks like my choices are an 8" or 10" "low profile" or "slim" box - ideally self-powered. An Amp will fit on top of the HVB.
Subs will not fit in the 6x9 punchouts in the package deck. If I want a perfect fit sub, I need to make the housing myself. The Slimline by pioneer looks like it would fit well: Here (this is the 10", they make an 8" which is approximately the size of the speaker.

  10. Warranty - Since I bought my car out of state, I'm going to take it to the dealership ahead of schedule and have it given a once-over. I only have a few thousand more miles under factory warrant and if the warranty works the way I think it does, the dealership would be down to make as much money as possible, finding any problems they can. I want updates to everything (the manual says to contact ford if the dealership won't apply courtesy updates). In this way I can get my oil changed and reset the intelligent life counter as well, gain some peace of mind and get the light ring fixed (does that break often?)

>The factory headlights even with an LED upgrade isn't going to cut it during the winter time.

I agree, LED "upgrades" will only help you see worse in the wintertime. Unfortunately, propaganda and misinformation and fake news surrounding LED kits for vehicles have reached North Korean levels.

----

What I would do if I were driving a '15 Fusion in Alaska at night:

Stick with halogens bulb and keep the old, factory halogens as spares in your car.

This is how much high-performance halogen bulbs can help you. They can help you see 60+ feet further compared to factory bulbs. These are the best H11 bulbs for your low-beam headlamps. Your Ford has H11 bulbs in the low-beams as stock equipment.

Alternatively, you can switch from H11s in your low-beam to H9 bulbs. H9 bulbs draw ~10 more watts than H11 bulbs, but put out 75% more lumens. The slight bump in power draw might actually be beneficial in helping you melt the ice on your lamps! Here are the best H9 bulbs. You will have to trim a little metal and plastic tab on the bulb to match the dimensions of the tabs on your H11 bulbs, but it's not extremely difficult.

Either the high-performance H11s or the H9 bulb swap will enable you to see far better than your stock setup with its long-life, low-output H11 bulbs, or any sort of LED conversion.

And before I get a light bar, I would consider upgrading your high-beams and perhaps see if that'll cut it. Your stock high-beams use H7 bulbs, which only put out 1600 lumens. 2100 lumen H7 bulbs are coming out soon. So, if you ran H9's in the low-beams and the special H7's in the high-beam, you'd be looking at 8400 raw lumens from your Ford without even touching a light bar or LED bulbs. And the price of these 4 halogen bulbs should be below $50. Even without the special H7s, you're looking at 7500 raw lumens with just H9s.

----

If you do need a light bar, I would get a good light bar such as this one. No, this is definitely not the cheapest light bar out there, but it's definitely reliable, as it's made by an American firm (JW Speaker).

We replaced the rear brakes at 64k miles on our 2013 but that was a bit late (one pad was totally gone and ruined the rotor). I don't think there's an indicator to make noise when the pad is almost worn out. We bought the car with 26k miles on it and I don't think the brakes had been changed before that.

Replaced the rotors with cheap Callahan ones from Amazon @ $50 for both and got a great deal on these Power Stop 16-1665 Z16 Ceramic Brake Pads for $10 used, like new from Amazon warehouse deals. You should be able to find new brake pads for under $40 easily.

The old rotors were stuck pretty well on the hub but there is a hole on the rotor that you can put a screw into to push the rotor away form the hub. The bolt that came with this kickstand happened to fit the hole perfectly. This video shows what I mean.

Forscan is a software you install on a laptop/phone, and use an OBD adapter to change settings within the Ford software.

It sounds crazy, but it’s insane how easy it is. You can change literally any setting on the car, as well as add features. I added the digital speedometer, and tire pressure monitor to screen in the middle of the gauges.

Let me know if you need help with it. Forscan is free, and OBD adapters are like $20-30 on Amazon. I would recommend the OHP ELM27 adapter.

I wrapped my roof panel myself(with a friend). The material cost about $50. It was deff a learning experience but it looks pretty dang good for my first time. My next project will be to wrap the 3 grill pieces. If I take them off and wrap each one individually I imagine it won't be too bad with an extra set of hands. I recommend you watch a couple YouTube videos and give it a go yourself.

I bought this one, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015KN65UK/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1, 15+ months ago and have to say, it kinda sucks.... Can't recommend that one. After just a few uses - we don't jam stuff in it and stretch it out either - it's lost all of it's 'stretchiness'. I guess that isn't necessary for it to work either but it's pretty disappointing. I bought my sister's '08 Infiniti G35 that came with a factory cargo net and after 10 years, it's still like new (maybe she didn't use it ??).

The one I linked to above does "fit" fine though. They come in different sizes so it sounds like you simply bought one that's too large. The one above is 35" wide so look for something in that range.

u/Arnold_4234 · 3 pointsr/fordfusion

Yeah, I'm really happy with it! And this is the one I bought. It arrived like 4 days after ordering:

I bought this reader in 2013. It lists "Canada - All Vehicles 1998 & Newer" as compatible. It also says "For Android & Windows ONLY!"

On my phone I use the paid version of the Torque app. Try the linked (free) version first.

Works great for my 2010 Fusion here in the US.

Edit: Looks like they have an iOS reader now as well. No idea what app to use though.

I bought this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073BXJRD7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_x1M3AbMK3J8QS

I had to trim off the two large tabs at the top. Not sure if that’s a Titanium thing or not but it fit perfectly once I did that.

u/m6877 · 1 pointr/fordfusion

I have used this on my 07 SE 2.3L and my 17 SE 2.5L that gave me all sorts of useful info using ODB Car Doctor Free.

It happens to everyone pretty much. There is a class action lawsuit that you can google and join if you really want to. You want something like this:

They will rust and look like crap fairly quickly if you are in a northern state, but for the price difference you can replace them 3-4 times vs. the aluminum capped ones.

I'm not mechanically inclined at all and it took me two hours. I followed a YouTube that walked me through it. Overall it was very easy. If I did it again it would likely take me 45 min - 1 hr now that I know the general steps.

There's a couple lugs inside the wheel well you have to remove that are a huge pain in the ass to remove while the tire is on. The video I followed recommended removing the tire to get to the nut but I managed to do it without doing that.

It was completely worth it, I think the car looks much sexier now.

u/BringOutYaThrowaway · 3 pointsr/fordfusion

Yeah, you obviously need to replace the mount base assembly. I would keep it taped up to seal out moisture until that day, though.

However, once you do that, I would get the low-profile antenna. Here's what I got and it's great - no loss of signal that I can tell :
