You have a couple options. XBOX and PS controllers will work on your phone but not directly. The easiest option is to get an "on the go" (OTG) cable that converts USB micro to regular USB and plug a wired modern controller into the OTG cable. When I say wired I mean you have to have it plugged into your Xbox or PS to play on that system. Modern bluetooth controllers (xbox/ps) with the recharge cables have different setups.

I only have a wireless Xbox controller. I bought the OTG and receiver cables linked below. I tried only for a few minutes to get it working but gave up pretty quick. Plenty of people have gotten this to work and I'm sure I could as well if I tried a bit harder.

I ended up buying the 8BitDo controller to play OG Mario and I really like it. I ended up ordering another one for my wife for Christmas. I bought an MHL adapter and play Super Mario and Contra from my couch on my Plasma with my bluetooth controller. Its pretty slick.

If you use the modern console controllers you aren't able to use the MHL HDMI cable. I know there are other options to throw your phone screen on the TV but I found this the easiest option. I vaguely remember having an issue getting my phone in landscape mode with Chromecast casting.

My Setup

Classic NES Controller It has top trigger buttons as well, all of these are programmable depending on what emulator you use.

OTG Cable Nothing fancy about these, with this one you are supposed to be able to plug a power cable into the extra pigtail to help charge your device while playing. I have used this to plug in a regular USB memory stick, a full size keyboard, and a few other items for testing purposes. Everything worked wonderful.

Wireless Gaming Receiver

MHL adapter I price matched this and a micro SD card at Best Buy. This also has a power port on it which I have used.

Also check out /r/androidgaming for more info or reqs on other controllers besides the ones I've listed.

I currently have 3 cases.

  • Galaxy Note 4 Case, Spigen® [Perfect-Fit] Galaxy Note 4 Case Slim NEW [Fit Series] [Thin Fit] [Smooth Black] Premium Matte Finish Hard Case - I ordered this one before I got my Note, just to ensure I had something to put on it. It's very minimal and therefore looks good as it doesn't detract from the design. I actually had my first drop from the couch to the tile floor and, fortunately, there was no damage!
  • Galaxy Note 4 Case, i-Blason Unity Series 2 Layer [Ultra Slim] Armored Hybrid Cover For Samsung Galaxy Note 4 [SM-N910S / SM-N910C] with Inner Soft Case - This was the 2nd case I purchased. I thought I was going to be "stuck" with a white Note 4 and this was the nicest case I found at the time that would complement the color of the device. First time I've bought one from i-Blason. The black rubber showing through at the edges provides a nice contrast. I was not entirely happy with the cutouts along the bottom, in particular. The case doesn't seem to follow the contours of the phone very well. Otherwise, seems like a fine case that would provide a good level of protection.
  • Galaxy Note 4 Case, Spigen® [Dual Layer] Galaxy Note 4 Case Protective NEW [Slim Armor] [Metal Slate] Dual Layer Protective Case - This is the case i'm using now. I was able to switch to a black Note and decided to give this a try. I've been a fan of Spigen from previous devices (Galaxy S3 and S4). The case looks great on the Note! Very complementary! Yes, as you may have read, it is smooth and not "grippy". I haven't had any issues with it slipping out of my hands, though. The cutouts are just fine on my AT&T model and look much better than those on the i-Blason case. I can't comment on possible scratching at this time, but I'm not one to regularly remove the case. I also can't comment on drop protection. I read the instance of having an issue but that could certainly be an anomaly. It seems as if it would provide very good protection. Nice lips to protect the screen. Rubber bumpers in the corners, etc. I wasn't sure about the kickstand at first but it clicks / locks right into place and does not open unless you want it to open. I expect I'll be rocking this case for the long haul.
EDIT: Yes, it is more difficult using the heart rate sensor, but it is possible.

I have a GN4 as well as a Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Ed. I use the Logitech Tablet BT Keyboard for both of them but mostly the tablet and the Office-like app. It connects quite easily and battery life using Eneloop 2,000mAh Ni-MH rechargeable batteries is very good.

I really wanted keyboard/case combo, but none of the ones I found were to my liking. I like the Logitech one because the case folds into the stand if you need one. The other downside of the tablet itself is that the charging port is on the bottom edge of the tablet. When I want to charge the device while using the stand, I just let the screen rotate and use it upside down. The Note 4 hasn't been a problem. I have the Otterbox Defender case with the belt clip and use the clip as the kick stand.

I have not tried any other BT keyboards with my Note devices. Since you want a KB with a USB port, to attach a mouse I presume, a work around for this would be to use a BT KB and an USB OTG cable to attach a mouse via the micro USB charging/data port. I am not sure if a wireless mouse will work, but I have successfully used my OTG cable to attach a cheap Dell wired mouse and many times to upload .cr2 and project files from my SD card reader and thumb drives respectively.

The Logitech Tablet KB $69.99 retail MSRP. But, I got it off of Amazon for about $35.

There are many OTG cables out there. Samsung makes one for about $10 (at BestBuy) but you can get a bunch from Monoprice.com for that amount.

Yeah no problem! I still have a year left in my lease with sprint and because of my family plan I didn't want to start a new 2 year contract. Therefore, I needed a phone for one year. I really like how the note 3 is cheap, has a quality display, and removable battery. I thought this would be great. However, for $70 more, I decided to go with the Note 4. I figured the extra processing power can't hurt and maybe it will still receive updates? In addition, there is a nicer display, fingerprint sensor, and fast charging(loved that on my G4). Although it's a very minor difference, I like look of the Note 4 more. Just to sum things up I chose the note 4 because:
Fits the price ($250 for like new on amazon)
Removable battery(Huge for me)
Good camera
Works on Sprint (Oneplus has good phones but they don't work on sprint)
Fingerprint sensor
Maybe it will retain slightly more value than the note 3?
Better processor
(Just turned 18, still in high school and making minimum wage so I don't have lots of money plus I need to pay the price of the LG G4 to sprint because I can no longer hand it in)

Just some more background info if you're wondering about the whole process:
I ordered a refurbished note 3 on December 19th on Samsungs outlet website for $200 with a 1 year warranty (claims it's in stock). I find out it's on back order and I patiently wait because they claim to be receiving a shipment Jan 1. I check the status every day and today I called and they said it will be 3-4 weeks for another batch to come in. So I was frustrated and I went on Amazon and ordered a note 3 for $170 (no warranty) and it said it will come tomorrow. I was excited. However, my friend pointed out the note 4 for slightly more money. At this point, I checked out the note 4 previously but for whatever reason I thought it was in the $300-$400 range. So I quickly canceled my order and bought it on amazon for $250. Should I have bought one somewhere else with warranty? Most likely. However, I've been waiting a while now and I really just want a phone. I am sure you can find a better deal than I did because I really did rush.

Links that may benefit you:
I bought my phone from EdgeCellular the $249.95 one that is "Used- Like New" (Remember this is Sprint) https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00NKR9MJA/ref=dp_olp_0?ie=UTF8&condition=all

I was really considering this Ebay one but the shipping will be longer. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-Galaxy-Note-4-32GB-SM-N910P-Black-Sprint-Clean-Esn-Light-Wear-/141782005831?hash=item2102ddb847%3Ag%3A9YQAAOSwTdJXRbE~

As I did with my G4, I will be buying a spare battery. I've read that this one is really good. The mah is insane! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00S153ICS/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&sr=1-10&m=A294P4X9EWVXLJ&tag=ianker-20&linkCode=as2&camp=217145&creative=399373&creativeASIN=B00S153ICS

I hope this helps coming from a G4 user. I really am upset with LG and have been on the phone many times because when I sent in my phone it came back with "Water Damage- Unrepairable". The bootloop issue has nothing to do with the water damage, all that was broken is the speaker. This is fair and I understand water voids warranty. However, when I got it back it had a cracked camera lens. This is why i've been on the phone with them so many times and they keep telling me they are trying to talk with the repair center and I haven't gotten a response. I am still fighting this battle because I if the camera lens was fixed I could freeze the G4, have it work for a few minutes, and turn it into sprint as working. I Still have to think about that because it penalizes the guys who accept the phone. (I would feel bad.)

Sorry for the tangents and grammar errors as I wrote this very fast. Let me know you're decision!

I bought a smarttheater one and it works really well. It's Google cardboard compatible and has a lever/button for touch. I can plug in headphones and a charger since its only held in with a velcro strap but it's pretty secure. If you have a nice BT controller or root for sixaxis you can also play a lot of fun games.

Here is their website

And here is where to get it on amazon

u/AttackingHobo · 1 pointr/galaxynote4

Frictional? Do you mean frictionless? It was a bit rubbery under the nib right away, but after swiping a few times with my finger its perfect and slides nicely, no noticeable difference than writing on the naked screen.

I'm pretty sure its near 100% clarity. I can only tell I have them on if I angle it and look for the bevel on the edge to catch the light.

Here is the amazon link. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00O3GWMK8/
It came with 3 and they sent me another 3 pack for leaving a review.

If you want a nice feeling one, I got the phantom glass NON-edge to edge one. It's Gorilla Glass 4, so it's just like the glass on the phone itself. It's also coated with the oil-phobic coating our phone glass has on it as well, so it feels super slick. One thing. One time install. Make sure you get that shit lined up and clean under it. It's a very tricky install because it's not edge to edge. They also offer an edge to edge one, but I haven't tried it. Anyways phantomglass should be on amazon but it's a bit pricey compared to the 1-5$ cheap ass glass ones out there.

Here is a few pics of mine I took a couple months ago http://imgur.com/a/YbTOu Also the width is like exactly the same as the LCD, you can still touch the very edge of the screen. Just keep in mind if you install if off, it will be noticeable. I got mine on pretty straight.

Diztronic is a great slim case for the price. Though my copy had extra material from the mold and a few sharp edges which made my support pinky irritated. The keys were also very very easy to bump.

I ended up going with the iBlasion Halo series hybrid (clear). It's a little thicker than the Diz but the edge grip is overall better, there are no rough edges, it doesn't cover up the design of the phone and the keys are better protected from accidental bumps.

I've used Diztronic cases on the Nexus 4, Galaxy S4 and OnePlus One and have great results with minimum stretching from removal for cleaning and no damage to the phones (button protection was better but pretty annoying to feel for).

I use this one:

https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Braided-Tangle-Free-Gold-Plated-Connectors/dp/B01DEMTOQ6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1492811211&sr=8-1&keywords=anker+micro+usb+cable

Having a long cable is pretty useful, and having a braided cable makes it pretty durable. Ignore the gold plated part, but I think this cable does its job pretty well.

u/ralgo · 1 pointr/galaxynote4

I bought this one

but it looks like this

Its not very apparent when the screen is on though so i didn't really bother to look into changing it

Yesterday however the seller contacted me and asked if my protector fit right. He said they had erroneously sent out a few incorrect model protectors. I explained the issues and he will be sending out the correct one.

We'll see how well this one fits when it gets here

Ordered a Tough Armor and Strong Flex last night and they just shipped today.

I have never had tempered glass on any of my phones, but I decided to give it try after reading a lot about it here and on another Note 4 forum. When I tried to order the Spigen glass though, it was unavailable so I ordered one from Bear Motion. Their Note 3 glass got good enough reviews for me to give it a shot. I just hope it doesn't mess with the fingerprint scanner.

u/AnarchoPunx · 2 pointsr/galaxynote4

I've been using the spigen ultra hybrid. I was worried any case would be too much for such a big phone, but it is pleasantly comfortable.

u/ErisGrey · 1 pointr/galaxynote4

I have this case for my Note 4. The kickstand snaps back in place really well! I bite my nails and find that I am unable to open the kickstand without the use of some additional tool. When it is open, it does provide a strong standing position for the Note 4. The rubber/silicone, whatever it is, can be used to control my touch stereo in the car. Just thought that part was kind of interesting. I use the note 4 as a dashcam and the case doesn't interfere with it's ability to be docked. I've dropped my phone numerous times already and so far it has been unscathed.

The Case I purchased

The car windshield holder.

u/YourAverageAnon · 2 pointsr/galaxynote4

As far as I know, any screen protector you purchase will have that little tiny bit of the curve not covered by the protector. Personally, I have a Skinomi Clear Film screen protector and although some dust does get caught under the edges, its not very noticeable with my Spigen Tough Armor case.

Other than that, the protector feels like the screen itself and is pretty thick, but it also has a kind of gummy texture where if you push down with the pen or a fingernail, it leaves a bit of a mark which heals itself for the most part and the remnants of the scar are only visible at a certain angle with light shining a certain way.

I'd give it a 8/10

u/stratoscope · 1 pointr/galaxynote4

I second The_Big_Elf's recommendations. Also you should probably get at least a 32GB card. You will be surprised how little the price varies between 8-16-32 and even 64GB. For example, here are current prices for SanDisk Ultra Class 10 cards sold directly by Amazon in the US (not by third-party sellers):

16GB for $9.99

32GB for $13.27

64GB for $21.99

You will see a list of all the sizes near the top of the page so you can easily compare.

u/somethingotherthanb4 · 1 pointr/galaxynote4

I don't know how it works yet since I just ordered it yesterday and haven't received it, but what from what I've seen on other websites this screen protector is flexible so you won't have the halo effect and it is glass so should be good to use with the stylus. It seems thin and not as hard as some other screen protectors but it should stop scratches on your main screen and is replaceable. I will try to remember to update after I get it and have used it for a couple days!

u/garredow · 1 pointr/galaxynote4

I've been using this one for a month now and it has been great.

Galaxy Note 4 Case, ACEABOVE Slim Leather Protective Stand Case For Samsung Galaxy Note 4 [SM-N910S / SM-N910C] (Black) by AceAbove http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NANBMD8/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_wp6oub0MSQYAR

That's the one I found. I ordered it. Should get to me in a few weeks.

I would rather have one that flips open from the bottom (as opposed to flipping from the side like this one), but I can't find any of those.

There are also some wallet ones on Amazon, but I'm not interested in those.

Hey, if you find any others, will you please let me know?

u/frescani · 3 pointsr/galaxynote4

I imagine one of the wallet types would be a better bet for this. Wider base, more stability. Here are several.

I've been using this case for over a year with no issues. The part I like is the plastic cover with the kick stand adds another layer of protection but it is also easily removable if you need a smaller form factor.

u/S0UNDH0UND · 4 pointsr/galaxynote4

I have that case and the Spigen Tough Armor Case which is fantastic at protecting my phone. And the Kickstand is very sturdy for me.

u/seanfast · 1 pointr/galaxynote4

im waiting for the Bear Motion one to be delivered, it had decent reviews on amazon and a picture of it on the note 4.

http://www.amazon.com/Galaxy-Note-Screen-Protector-limitation/dp/B00MDEIZRG/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1415118684&sr=8-4&keywords=Bear+Motion

they say as a disclaimer:Due to the rounded edges on phone and the limitation of Tempered Glass Material, the cover is designed to cover the flat area only. The curved edge area is NOT covered

i figure for 10 bucks id give it a shot, there were a ton of positive reviews

dont know how its gonna do in my UAG case though

u/fiestaoffire · 1 pointr/galaxynote4

This is the one I'm using.

Feels glasslike, colors still vivid and brightness not noticeably obscured, and is relatively cheap compared to other non-flexible glass screen protectors. I've not had any problems with it thus far.

u/MrPeriodical · 1 pointr/galaxynote4

I'm currently using this one. Clear and very thin.

u/KittenDecimation · 1 pointr/galaxynote4

I can't be much help in that department. I've never experienced any GPS issues. I have the N910T3 model. But, this is the micro SD card that I've had in my phone for awhile. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B010Q57T02/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1467993399&sr=8-1&pi=SX200_QL40&keywords=micro+sd+card+32gb&dpPl=1&dpID=41f7MricNhL&ref=plSrch

I've used this brand in my phone since my s3 and haven't ever had issues :)
