I have the Spigen Slim Shell Clear case on mine. It's thin, protects pretty decent, has cutouts for everything and it's clear so you can still show the phone off. Feels great in the hand and isn't slippery. For screen protectors I use Tech Armor HD protectors. They're cheap, you get 3 of them for about $6. They're super easy to apply, you don't need any sprays or need to wait 24 hours for bubbles to slowly disappear since it's a dry installation. They also make a glass one also, it's about $10 and you only get one. I have one on my wife's G3 & my brothers GS4 and it's pretty nice. I've been using Tech Armor screen protectors on my phone for a few years now and they're just fantastic for the price. I've been using the Spigen Slim cases for my phones for a while now as well, never had any issues with them.

I use the Spigen Neo Hybrid Case, along with my Skinomi TechSkin screen protector.

I really liked the dimples on the back of the S5 and this case matches it exactly, but with a slightly different feel. The side buttons look metal, but they're made of plastic and are sturdy with the case on. All the ports line up well, except the top most left thing, but only very very slightly. There is enough room for the earphone jack plug-in, a good slant to take your pulse on the back, good room for your fingerprint, and the perfect amount of room for your finger to pop the charger cover out. I've dropped my phone already about 5 or 6 times from my lap in a truck/car to asphalt, and all that's happened is the plastic ring around the rubber case got scuffed a little.

I got the Skinomi screen cover because of the good reviews and the lifetime warranty. Plus this is my first new phone in over 4 years, previously had the Samsung Galaxy Captivate, and I've seen one too many people with cracked iPhones to not get a screen protector and a case.

Edit: I know it's not <$15, but OP should really check it out. I absolutely love it, along with the screen protector.

Element Recon expensive but has a lot of nice features and is slim compaired to everything else I have tried. Good button feel and directs the speaker to the front (sbs sound boost system) i highly recommend getting it.

Last case I had was a UAG also great case. Little bulky but practically indestructable.

Here ya go bud. Ill save you some reading though.

http://www.belkin.com/us/p/P-F8M913/ will fit. Not an optimal case, but it works.

http://www.amazon.com/Diztronic-Flexible-Compatible-Wireless-Charging/dp/B00LLM9MQY/ref=pd_sim_cps_3?ie=UTF8&refRID=0X5WQ870RRXH356T5XM3 fits like a glove, and is what I currently use. I could wish for some more bul to it, or a hard plastic shell kind of thing like the Spigen Tough Armor, which I wish fit with the backplate.

Hope it helps

I got a fair number of cases when I bought my phone, and I use the Spigen Hard Slim Case for my everyday "carry".
Even protected it once on a fall to concrete from 5-6ft, but certainly don't recommend that drop test ;-)

I also have this Ringke Slim Case that feels nice as well, basically same material but I like how the Spigen is a bit more open on the top and bottom.

If I'm going out on the weekend and know I need some extra protection for whatever reason, I'll switch it up to this S-Line Case for a bit better drop protection.

Haha understandable about the reservations.

If this is the same as your one it is 1.3mm thick. I've seen them down to 0.5mm thick. I'm going to try my case and then perhaps buy a very thin one. Thanks for your help. If it breaks or you have any developments on it I'd love to hear as it'll help inform my decision!

This is the thinnest case I could find, and I'm a guy who hates case but needed to put something on to protect the protruding camera lens. It maintains one hand usability while providing excellent grip with the black matte finish

u/The_Texican · 2 pointsr/galaxys5

yea nexus charger wont work.

I know of 2 that work for sure that I have bought.

This one

and This one

I got both for about 45 bucks at the time when I bought them. From what I am seeing shooting for a charger wiht 3 coils is your best bet for something that works properly.

One of those in on my desk at work, and the other at home so I use them both daily. Which they also charge my nexus tablet fine as well.

This one looks promising and cheap.I would try it if i didn't already have 2

u/anthonyjohnson77 · 1 pointr/galaxys5

Well I like my two week Old Galaxy S5 which is the best Smartphone I have ever had till date. I recently purchased a wireless charger with receiver for it from Amazon http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DDTZN4S and it is working absolutely fine with my Galaxy S5. The cost of the combo is reasonable then the official one.

iOttie XL

Just got one a few days ago. Fits the s5 perfectly, the suction cup is AWESOME, and its really easy to use with one hand. Oh and it just $20. Let me know how you like it. :)

EDIT:I'm looking to get an extra battery + wall charger for the battery kit on Samsung's website, but it is back ordered currently. I'm planning on using a 50% coupon so it will be around $25.

I would guess the issue is the cable. Make sure you're getting a quality one when picking up a 3.0. I've seen a lot of generic ones out there that are grossly underpriced. If I had to guess, I'm sure they're all faulty. I bought a few from Amazon that are pretty awesome. See here and here.

Im using this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I3UWDV8/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Absolutely love it. More than otterbox on my old phone. very good to the touch and not bulky at all.

u/ShakataGaNai · 1 pointr/galaxys5

On my Note 3 I originally bought a SanDisk Ultra 64 GB microSDXC Class 10 UHS-1. Had nothing but problems with it randomly "ejecting", even thought it was solidly seated. Per recommendations I got here on Reddit, I purchased the Samsung Electronics 64GB Pro microSDXC Extreme Speed (UHS-1) - which has worked perfectly for 6 months now.

So, get the Samsung card and save yourself some pain.

u/FesteringNeonDistrac · 2 pointsr/galaxys5

I'm using this receiver, and this charger. I keep my phone in an Otterbox Commuter case and this combo works great. You need to use the wall wart charger that comes with the phone, and you have to set it on the charger a little bit offset, but once you get that figured out, it works the charm.

u/igneouz · 1 pointr/galaxys5

What I use and I really like is the otter box symmetry and a zagg glass shield

http://imgur.com/a/hni5k

you can take it off quite easily and the glass shield shouldn't be a problem

u/MJAT · 3 pointsr/galaxys5

this one is a beast. Dropped my phone multiple times and the glass screen protector kept cracking in different places. Removed it by peeling off the protector screen and the main glass was perfectly fine! I now swear by them

u/dwrdbg · 3 pointsr/galaxys5

I just purchased the UAG here. I have used their cases before and they look and work great! ("Meets military drop-test standards??")

u/african_violent · 1 pointr/galaxys5

I got this one.
Love it! Makes me feel like Batman. Easy to grip. Buttons still respond.

u/NothingKing · 2 pointsr/galaxys5

i bought this Qi Receiver:

It works, but I can't comment on the waterproof ability after adding it. It doesn't look like it creates too much of a bulge.

u/ello_govna · 1 pointr/galaxys5

I got the only thing I could find that was compatible with the factory wireless charging back. Nothing special but I like it fine. Has at matte feel to it that doesn't catch on my pockets and is better protection than nothing. Doesn't hurt that it's cheap either.

u/zoxxo · 2 pointsr/galaxys5

I have the Samsung back, this charger and this windshield mount for my car. It's convenient, but I find that my phone overheats a lot. I oscillate back and forth on whether to keep the back on the phone or not. I also find that it makes it impossible to use some of the battery packs like the mophie case.

u/awkwardaudit · 2 pointsr/galaxys5

I have the official samsung wireless charging back, the wireless charging pad for the s4 since it's bigger and the phone fits on it better. It works pretty well, it takes about twice as long to charge though but it's much more convenient. I also use this case since it fits the phone http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00LLM9MQY/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1418647015&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SY200_QL40

A theme is just a fancy way of laying out icons and backgrounds, and using other widgets...There's a ton of options for customization. Just search the play store for Icon packs and start there.

I haven't rooted (to my knowledge, anyways), Nova Launcher is an "app" available in the playstore

u/tonymorgan77 · 1 pointr/galaxys5

You need a receiver for Galaxy S4 and can use the same wireless charger to charge it. Well, even I am using a wireless charger with receiver www.amazon.com/dp/B00DDTZN4S to charge 2800mAh battery of my Galaxy S5.

u/ocxtitan · 1 pointr/galaxys5

I just got that Spigen case today, don't like it. It feels cheap and really makes the phone wider/taller.

I also have this Spigen and this Ringke, which is my favorite of the two so far, but I just got the Spigen so I'll test it out.

u/SveNss0N · 1 pointr/galaxys5

Is speed really that big of a factor though? Couldn't I just get this?

http://amzn.com/B009QZH6JS

u/demonpiggies · 1 pointr/galaxys5

Which one of these did you buy?

The S5 takes the Micro-USB 3.0 or most commonly called "USB 3.0" cable. The 3.0 is built on the 2.0 and you do get some data and some power but basically you are using the completely wrong cable to do the job.

USB 3.0 cables are CHEAP.

u/lysergicfuneral · 5 pointsr/galaxys5

You need this (or similar), this, and this.

Besides the fingernail issue, I was also worried about breaking the cover and losing the waterproofness. With this setup, I rarely have to connect to USB and it charges just as fast. It's measurably thicker, but it's hardly noticeable. I couldn't be happier with this setup. I'm shocked that all flagship phones don't come with inductive charging standard.
