A really good writer that does a good job at making everyone fleshed out, is A. Lee Martinez.

If you like high-fantasy read In the Company of Ogres

If you enjoy the supernatural elements read Gil's all fright diner

If you want a detective read the Automatic detective

If you want a modern mythological read Divine Misfortune

If you want a a strong female lead with bouts of comedy try A nameless witch

If you want a book that has plenty of monsters try Monster

If you want eldritch horrors threatening the world try Chasing the Moon

And if you want a contrast to the heroes saving the day here is a story of a kobold housemaid who ends up in a perilous situtation Too Many curses

I can't stress enough how wonderful this writer is, his ability to make likable and strong characters is phenominal even when he jumps genres.

I strongly recommend that you pick up at least one of his books, his books were released a while ago and they should be fairly cheap. The Amazon prices were under $10 USD so it shouldn't be hard to get one or two, but he does a good job at making sure no-one you meet is just another cog to play a role.

DON'T BUY IT FROM STEAM

Here is a pack from amazon from time to time they have amazing sale and you can pick up everything for 15 bucks. Besides that Steam pack doesn't have latest expansion which would cost you another 15 bucks. So just wait and check amazon from time to time.

Btw I would also recommend not buying the game if you are not into these type of games. Paradox games (CK, EU, HOI) are like historical Civilization but 10 times more complex. You will not understand anything first 10 hours and I would recommend to play atleast 100 hours in the main game before trying the mod. Know that this is very different type of experience so it's not like you will jump into Starks and invade King's Landing in first day. Also you will not recreate most of the things in a books, it's essentially a sandbox mod but instead of europe you have westeros and valyrian steel and dragons.

But don't think I don't like the game, I LOVE IT. Have over 300 hours on CK2 and thousands in EU3 and I might fail college because EU4 looks like the greatest game ever made. Just the game is not a cup of tea for everyone, if you don't like strategies or RPG's, there is a big chance you will not like the game.

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my second and third acrylic painting ever! I stole the design from wall decals of Daenerys and Jon but if somebody knows the original artists I'd be happy to credit them. They turned out much better than I expected considering I haven't painted anything since high school :) Let me know what you think

Shit, some interesting reading material is Guns, Germs, and Steel.

It's an interdisciplinary work but it's pretty fascinating and its a good read.

Interested in a fun East Asian account? Try reading The Last Samurai: The Life and Battles of Saigo Takamori. This is the book that the movie of the same name was adapted from. (I seriously mean ADAPTED, by the way.) It's an interesting read about the Meiji Restoration and how the Japanese countryside reacted.

How about something from Africa? Read Sundiata: an Epic of Old Mali. It's an epic poem about the founding of the African state of Mali (MANSA MUSA DA GOD). Captivating read.

Get cracking.

Hey! Multirachael and Osiris were spot on! :)

I used this pen (my favoritestness) for the black inking.
http://www.jetpens.com/Zebra-Disposable-Brush-Pen-Fine/pd/2307

I used the Copic warm gray set shading (Copics are the best for blending, imo)
http://www.amazon.com/Copic-Markers-12-Piece-Warm-Gray/dp/B000MRSUP8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1427062728&sr=8-1&keywords=copic+warm+gray+set

And, for the white.. I used a jar of Copic's opaque white pigment paint and applied it with a brush. It's been great. Goes on smooth and solid.

Hope that helps! :D

Can you find the board game anywhere for a reasonable price? I've looked for it on Amazon and Ebay and usually see costs in excess of $100-$150. I'm surprised they haven't re-issued it already.

I have the card game myself (also from Fantasy Flight Games), and I love it. I purchased it at the Origins Game Fair this year, but it retails for only $30 on Amazon. The character and environmental artwork on the cards is beautiful (and original-- true to the book, but not based on the HBO series); and in my opinion the strategic elements of the game are involving and accessible even for people who don't usually play board games. People who already play video games could easily pick up the card game if they gave it a try.

Right. Professional makeup and lighting effects, including a "patch" over here lady parts and a "sock" over any of the male actors is a requirement of any SAG card holder

I know this b/c of the short lived but brilliant Tell Me You Love Me realistic view into how sexuality impacts our relationships.

It features many actors/actresses fully nude.

Check it out, worth it. "For the plot, if you will."

See if you can guess which review is mine from WAY back when. :)

If you haven't already please consider getting a better vocal recording set up. Not only will it get rid of the obvious jump between narrators, but a well mixed voice is like another dimension to these types of videos. For absolute bare bones budget you might look at a Yeti USB mic. I can give you advice on nicer setups if you're interested.

That's just the feedback bit though. This is really well done!

I see what you mean, but its mostly because they both have saggy cheeks.

But I found an official book about Tyrion with him on the cover, so I think this might be what he officially looks like. It kinda looks like the one you liked best.

Awesome look! Very creative to so convincingly turn a male character into a female one! I saw some earlier discussion about your paint. I used this on a Drogo costume last year and it was absolutely perfect. The color was a perfect match, and it's thick.

it's just called Game of Thrones. It's an action RTS/RPG. It's not the greatest game, but it's pretty fun, a decent story and, I think, a better gameplay way to experience Westeros than the Telltale series. You play as two characters: a an exiled red priest returned to Westeros, and a mid-level commander at the Wall. Their stories interact around the time of the middle of the first novel, with GRRM-like twists and difficult moral decisions.

I actually was working on one for a while but I can't find the heart to continue. It's too draining for me. I'd rather do an arty-story book, like that recent Amano book: http://www.amazon.com/Shinjuku-Mink/dp/1595821899

Sandman is amazing. The covers are by Dave McKean. He also did a film called Mirrormask you may be interested in :)

Sam is my favorite character and I have an Amazon Merch account so I just make the shirts I want. I just made one from the best quote he has had so far this season. "I read the book and followed the instructions". Annnd he saved my second favorite Knight, Ser Jorah.

here is the shirt if anyone else wants it

Quick google search showed that it's available at places like Walmart and Target apparently, but also on Amazon (likely the best choice). :)

I haven't read these yet, most of my information comes from the Wiki and these videos, but my understanding is that a lot of it is contained in these two books:

World of Ice and Fire

Fire and Blood

Adding this one as well: https://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/The_Lands_of_Ice_and_Fire

As a bonus, I just stumbled on a different version of Tormund's giant's milk story, haha: https://youtu.be/6YaC_7nPBp8?t=1275

Was about to post the following, then I decided to see if anyone had already mentioned them. Posting for the links in case they help out:

I'm going through my second read now, and after this I plan to gather all miscellaneous stories. First, the Dunk and Egg stories in Legends I Volume 2, Legends II, and Warriors. Then the Princess and the Queen from Dangerous Women, and Everybody Loves a Rogue from Rogues. I'm hoping this will last me until World of Ice and Fire in October (I'll read the entire anthologies, not just the ASOIAF material). I also have other things to read in the meantime, Peter Watts has a new one coming out, and I want to check out some of the other stuff mentioned here, like the Abercrombie books, Rothfuss, and Sanderson.

u/Chaoss780 · 2 pointsr/gameofthrones

They are such short novellas (I think the Rogue Prince is like 30 pages?) that I just took them from my school's inter-library loan system. You probably know this already, but for anyone else, The Rogue Prince is printed in Rogues and the Princess and the Queen is published in Dangerous Women.

Both are good, but only if you're a die-hard asoiaf fan. The P&Q especially gets confusing despite its very short length.

I got it from Amazon! https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/1101965487/ref=oh_aui_i_d_rec_o0_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They're fairly small though. I travel for work, so I was fine with this.

And don't forget " THE PRINCESS AND THE QUEEN, OR, THE BLACKS AND THE GREENS: Being A History of the Causes, Origins, Battles, and Betrayals of that Most Tragic Bloodletting Known as the Dance of the Dragons, as set down by Archmaester Gyldayn of the Citadel of Oldtown".
