The vice I use is one from a cheap hobby kit I picked up about 15 years ago. It still works fine. I would say not to worry too much about the vice. They tend to be consistent in quality. More important is the magnets and drill bits you use. I started with the bits in the same kit but they dulled over time and a few of them actually snapped while I was using them. I got a gouge in my thumb that way once but I was applying heavy pressure too so ut was partly my fault. Since then I've moved to these and I'm much happier with them. As for magnets, you want rare earth metals. I've only used these but I have no complaints. On mobile so links at the bottom.
