Found some extra items to add to his list:

  1. A book to help him use his biological voice instead of the chain-smoking Kermit the Frog voice he uses: http://www.amazon.com/Change-Your-Voice-Finding-Natural/dp/0879804416

(That Thanksgiving podcast where he skyped in and you could barely hear him was the best one yet - he didn't dominate the conversation with his droning monotone microphone-swallowing voice that happens on the rest of the podcasts.

  2. This next Amazon item would help Alex to stop making terrible jokes like "that's a thing" or others where he basically reduces creativity into a Jon Lovitz-style "It Stinks!" soundbyte which sounds hilarious to only him. http://www.amazon.com/Complaint-Free-World-Complaining-Enjoying/dp/0770436390

Edit: Downvote away, I'm not joking. Alex ruins podcasts with his affected voice and endless pursuit of negativity. As Giant Bomb transitions into a source of entertainment from a source of information, these two books would help him with two areas where he detracts from entertainment. Take solace, Alex: In the words of the Beatles, it's a fool who plays it cool while making his world a little smaller. Rejecting 99% of everything doesn't make you more interesting.

Christ, that's an expensive camera. The quality didn't blow me away, either. Well, the high framerate stuff was really cool. Colors and clarity, less so. Guess it takes some tweaking to get the most out of.

Love the new mic, though. That was great.

I checked out the Sn30 Pro Plus with the grips on it and wow I'm blown away by how the great this dpad is. The price point is perfect for my needs as I haven't needed gyro or hd rumble for a switch game in a while. The clickyness of everything made mon hun, dragon quest, and Celeste such a blast, like I almost regret playing 60 hours of that game with analog sticks D: Hoping to check out Hollow Knight soon as well. I guess I'm just bummed that you can't use it to turn on the Switch but beside that this controller's a super good one.

I have asked a few random questions, but none have been chosen.

I really want to hear Jeff's opinion about the upcoming $50 Super Nintendo game Unholy Night: The Darkness Hunter.

Edit: Jeff finally answered one of mine! Yay!

> this Blue Yeti set

Lots of people start with that but soon upgrade. You can get better quality mic in a same price range (like Blue XLR models). You still need some kind DAC but those are cheap while giving better sound quality for playback than onboard audio (handy for reviewing audio quality of a game).

You might know this already, but there is a really cool short-story collection and a sequel that deal with this topic.

Both great books, cannot recommend them enought

I do not remember that talk, however Giantbomb's go to headphones for there podcasts are Sennheiser HD 202 which are only $25 the only issue with them it that the audio cord is over 10 feet long.

The headphones that are used in the control room are the Sennheiser HD 280 Pro at $99 which are great headphones for the price.

And if you can find a pair the Sennheiser HD 419 which I use are awesome I have a large head and I can wear this for hours on end without issue. They go for about $30 - $40 if you can find them.

When I was working on my doctoral degree, I took a class called Video Game Analysis. It was fun, but ended up being a load of work.

The book we used was The Game Design Reader: A Rules of Play Anthology. It's good, but very anthropology-dense, if you're into that kind of thing.

I've spent most of the past week watching about twenty episodes of Hunter × Hunter as I've now reached the "narration" portion of HxH's Chimera Ant Arc. I have some mixed feelings about it, to be honest. Having these long, drawn out bits of narration really kill the flow and pacing of the heroes storming the King's palace, but it also really provides some much needed insight into the actions of certain characters. But sometimes, how the narrator describes a characters actions and what the character is actually doing seem entirely incongruous with one another. I can't help but be reminded of Final Fantasy XIII, where characters would act one way during a cutscene, but have these extremely different internal reactions when reading the compendium after the fact.

The narration also breaks just about every rule of good storytelling, where the narrator tells us how characters feel instead of showing us how they feel. Why is the authorial intent so import that we need to be told how characters are reacting to the rapidly deteriorating situation rather than the audience inferring this from actual dialogue? Being told about how upset Shoot is when Youpi ignores him or how frustrated Gon feels when he can't attack Pitou is much less impactful when we are told how the characters are feeling and then shown how they're reacting.

Also, it's super repetitive and took something like fifteen episodes to cover five minutes of action. That's... DBZ levels of padding and filler. And then there are events that happen that aren't narrated and are over within a few seconds! Because the pacing is all over the place, I can't tell if something like Zeno vs Cheetu is intentionally meant to be a few seconds or if it's accidentally a few seconds.

I also watched a little bit more of Kill la Kill and Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai which are both great.

EDIT: oh hey also all of Cowboy Bebop is available on Amazon for $9.99.

If you want a fun action/adventure show, I would suggest checking out Rage of Bahamut: Genesis.

If you end up liking that, it has a sequel series on Amazon Prime Video.

u/Mr_The_Captain · 5 pointsr/giantbomb

[I saw this one suggested in a thread elsewhere on the switch subreddit.](http://www.MEKO.com/ 1.6mm Fine Tip Active... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07LG7DHXL?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share)

So far I'm really liking it, and the tip isnt leaving any marks on my plastic screen protector which is nice.

u/grumpy_bob · 4 pointsr/giantbomb

Yup! That's the one. I added an edit in my post for those searching for the best switch stylus in the future. Here's another link to the amazon page.

u/mythbustesr · 10 pointsr/giantbomb

Here's one on amazon.
Highly recommend getting one of these or trying out pour over or french press coffee! infinitely better than pods, imo.

u/SlickNickles · 3 pointsr/giantbomb

Guitar hanger. Got this one on amazon and it works perfectly.
