I know this is totally unhelpful after the fact, and honestly probably wouldn’t read a license plate at night, but a $50 dash cam is a great investment. I can vouch for this one:

AUKEY Dash Cam, 1080P Dashboard Camera Recorder, 6-Lane 170 Degree Wide Angle Lens, Supercapacitor, G-Sensor and Clear Nighttime Recording https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072FGL63X/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_obnRDb9EGKEVZ

>Glad you realize how real tinnitus is.

Like I said, it's all because of a Reddit thread I saw a few months ago. I didn't even know what tinnitus was before that, so I'm very glad I stumbled across that thread.

Thanks for the link. I'm using these and they do a pretty decent job of blocking frequencies in a balanced fashion but they're not perfect. Still much better than foam but I think I'll try the ones you linked as well.

Yeah just shop around to find a dashcam that would work good for you. I use a Transcend DrivePro 520

https://www.amazon.com/Transcend-Drive-Recorder-Suction-TS32GDP520M/dp/B0147R9PDO

Then plug it in and suction cup to your window and you're good to go. Make sure you read reviews before making your purchase.

:( I hope you do! I have an escape artist as well and finally just got him a collar with his name and my phone number. He usually doesn't go far and it doesn't happen often but it gives me some peace of mind. If and when you get her back you should check it out!

I use the cheapest antenna I could find on Amazon - less than $8.

I get everything but PBS as long as the antenna is in a window. I'm sure if I got an amplified antenna it would be even better. I live in Caledonia FWIW.

Propane blowtorch. Yes, really.

I use it year round. Burns weeds, melts ice, and really gets charcoal going quick on the grill. Connects to typical grill size tank. Fastest way to get rid of ice with zero physical effort. Light, point, melt. Win.

Remember: be civil. NO violence.

Bring flags (you can purchase relatively cheap US flags from Amazon, and others like it, here). Bring snacks and drinks, hand warmers. Get active on social media, post it everywhere you can. Bring your friends and family.

> My current machine doesn't have any recipe settings

Very few do, but that's OK! All you need is a cheap scale and a stopwatch. Measure the ground espresso going in (the "dose"), then put the scale on your drip tray and set the cup on the scale (you'll see me doing that in the picture I posted of my machine). Press the button on your machine and start a stopwatch (on your phone or whatever) to set a timer.

If your machine allows for manual control, stop it somewhere before the desired final shot mass. There will be some espresso dripping out after you press stop so you'll have to learn approximately when to stop (on mine there's about 3 grams or so, so for 27g I'll stop at 24g). If your machine is fully automatic, first check to confirm that you can't control it manually, otherwise you just need to let it run until it's done and hopefully it's not a straight timer.

Finally, if the 27g shot (or whatever the recipe would call for) took too long, then adjust your grinder to a looser grind. If it ran too quickly (again, based on the recipe), then adjust your grinder for a finer grind.

This is the basic process for following an espresso recipe. Espresso is a super tweaky process and everything you do impacts the result in one way or another. Using the scale and stopwatch you can track the process against your recipe and then you can use your grinder settings to control the result.

I have this one that a friend got as a wedding gift even though she never drank coffee. Obviously everything I grind is coarse but it still kicks out quite a bit of fine powdery dust.

This model has worked great! A bit of cheddar up front but I think it's worth it long-term.

i dont really ride in the winter, but ive heard these bad boys are pretty effective

u/ik1nky · 1 pointr/grandrapids

This one is cheaper and more comfortable than the tuft and needle I had a few years ago.

I have a tent and sleeping bag if interested. Tent used once and sleeping bag used only a handful of nights.

Have you tried a bark collar? That might help.

u/fullstep · 2 pointsr/grandrapids

Thanks for the advice. My current machine doesn't have any recipe settings, really. I just fill up the coffee portafilter to the level it specifies, insert it, press a button, and out comes espresso. This is what I'm currently using:

Yeah, sorry, I meant a milk steamer, not foamer. The steam wand on this machine kinda sucks. It's usually doesn't get the milk very hot and makes inconsistent foam.

u/fellandfound · 2 pointsr/grandrapids

I've been using this one for two years now for Seasonal Affective Disorder. It's the best one I've found for the price and it's currently on sale.

There’s a couple other brands too that Meijer and pretty much any outdoors store carry. They’re not pure deet, but 98%+.
