Based on what I've seen online, your wheel does not seem to have force feedback (the wheel has a motor inside that emulates the forces felt by the driver), so this by itself makes drifting far more difficult. You cannot feel when the tires are grabbing at all outside of vibrations in the wheel.
I personally recommend the Logitech Driving Force GT since it's inexpensive (well, it was $100 or so a while ago... You can still buy one used), but you will definitely need a table to mount it to. The G27 is a really nice option as well since it's actually on sale right now.
Also, you will definitely need lots and lots of practice before you can expect to successfully start drifting. The cars and setups definitely make it easier to drift, but the biggest factor, no matter what, is the driver (seeing as serious car damage does not really exist in GT6). Try to do a couple runs everyday, looking up videos on how to start and definitely watch Drift Bible in its entirety at least once.
I will say that I find drifting in GT5/GT6 to be pretty difficult, and I'm pretty comfortable with sliding in Live for Speed. Even while I was learning in that, it was a pretty long process to get it down (~30-60 minutes each day for a couple weeks), but even if you never drift again in the game after learning it, your driving through car control will definitely improve.
Sorry for the long text, but I figured I'd try to be fairly detailed since no one else has responded. I'll update the comment with links in a second...
If you want the G29 (don't get me wrong it contains the same old tried and true FFB tech as the 8+ year old G27) it is on sale for a good price right now on Amazon for 199.99 - https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Driving-Force-Racing-PlayStation/dp/B00Z0UWWYC
When you look at reviews based on quality of FFB on all racing games by people who have been around in sim racing for a long time it will be T-GT > T300 > T500 > T150 >= G29. However... the way the FFB works on GTS they G29 is reported to feel pretty good. The issues with FFB on the T500 and T300 are a extra vibration feel that they removed from the T500 and you can get rid of on the T300 by running it in ps3 mode.
My personal recommendation is the T300 during the Nov sales can be found with a nice pedal set (T3PA) for $299.99. The other upgrade products if you decide to use it with other racing games are better (TH8A shifter is much better than logitecs shifter)
We just put together a new racing line infographic. I really like these kinds of quick reference sheets that pack a lot of info into one graphic. Hope you like it.

The 3rd book in The Science of Speed Series is also now available. The Perfect Corner 2 covers complex track sections and completes our core program starting with The Perfect Corner and Perfect Control. Here is the Amazon link, but it's available from other retailers as well.

Feel free to ask questions as well.
> Yeah, I am wondering that myself since Sony havent confirmed if the PS4 will support the G25/G27.
After I saw this, shortly after the Driving Force GT started to disappear from online retailers like Amazon, it basically cemented my needing to wait on getting a wheel.
When the DFGT was around $150 (which it was for quite a while), I might've been able to justify it. (Though adding something like this to the purchase doesn't help.) But the G27 was always out of my price range, unfortunately.
But maybe Logitech will come out with a good DFGT replacement that's 100% PS4 compatible and still goes for the same price as the DFGT did and this will all work out for the best in the long-run! :)
I got Omega one, it’s awesome super heavy and sturdy. Adjustable hight, pedals sit in a nice angled position and never move. I was super impressed and happy with this stand
GT Omega Racing Wheel Stand PRO for Thrustmaster T300 RS Force Feedback Steering Wheel & Pedals - Playstation 4 Fanatec Clubsport Xbox PC - Tilt-Adjustable to Ultimate Gaming Console Experience https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071LKPY4B/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ij4XCb2RPFZWE
Thanks for the suggestion. I think I'm due for an upgrade.
The last time I bought a set of headphones, they were also from Turtle Beach. I just used them for my WoW raiding back in the day. I definitely need something more sophisticated.

As with most things, it depends on your budget. Popular choices are the Driving Force GT and the Logitech G27. I started out with the Driving force, then upgraded to the G27 when I build a full sim rig with a seat and a frame.
One thing I can say with confidence is that switching to a FFB wheel from a regular controller is literally a game changer. Its awesome and I highly recommend it!
PS4 Pro, Logitech G29, and PSVR V2.
Week off work, and a freshly cracked open bottle of Rum. No school for me tomorrow :)
Edit: As some have been asking...
Cable Clips with Strong Self-Adhesive Pads | Tidy and Organise Cords and Wires | Clear | Set of 20 - by Titan Grip https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01N9FA5OH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_cj.YAbP2PWWC2 keep the cables tidy and hidden. Very handy with PSVR as you can't see what you're tangling yourself up in :)
http://www.wheelstandracing.com/purchase?area=1 The stand I use for my wheel. Only £50 + £5 for postage in the UK. It's study enough for me, and more importantly it folds flat.
This, I have the Challenge and it folds up nicely with the wheel and pedals still attached. It's also a relatively cheap entry into have a seat that is attached to the wheel/pedal. Comfortable and easy to store for sure.
edit: Amazon link for the the interested.
I don't have a wheel. I'd like one but at the moment it's not in my budget and I don't want it to spiral into a full rig setup. The wife prob wouldn't appreciate that the house. lol. But I've done well enough with a DS4 since I've gotten my 91+ wins for that trophy. I have Kontrol Freeks on the sticks with a taller one on the left stick. The taller stick allows me better control when turning. Then like u/mcfudgebutts said throttle control is similar between the two. Just make sure your trigger is working properly assuming you'll map throttle to the that. Triggers on DS4s are known to fail and you won't accelerate fast enough if it's broken.
My two cents on this.
Wheels, obviously are nice, but a lot of feedback i see says they have a short life, at least for the cheaps ones. Some brands have a shit support, and some dont hold their word what they write on their warranties. The good ones are expensive, over 300, i mean, Fanatec is just plain idiotic prices.
Controllers, 3rd party? Dont bother, none of them have Motion Steering, which if you are not using, you're missing a lot.
I did get one of these though, they're embarassing, but it makes up for the good feeling.
I think it is. From what I've read the pedals of the G29 are 100x better. I found the G29 for $199 and the best I've found with the Thrustmaster 150 Pro (medal pedals) was $202, the regular t150 with the plastic pedals is $149.

I don't have one personally so I can't tell you how it is but it seems pretty cool.

They're currently out of stock, but they were in stock a day or so ago. I feel your pain about spending. I've looked everywhere for a reasonably priced one. Just be glad you're not in Canada, that T150 is almost $300. I've used the DFGT before. It's a good wheel, but apparently this one is better
Personally I run with a G29 and a GT Omega Pro Cockpit RS9. I got the G29 2.5 years ago when they were £150 more expensive than they are now, and overall I spent about £400 on the cockpit and about £300 on the wheel.
Nowadays, you can probably get a G29 for £150-£200, and a low end racing stand for about the same, which would be in your budget.
G29: https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Driving-Force-Racing-PlayStation/dp/B00Z0UWWYC
Thrustmaster T300RS: https://www.amazon.com/Thrustmaster-Officially-Licensed-Feedback-playstation-4/dp/B00O8B7D02?th=1
(Bear in mind, the pedals are awful, very recommended to get another set, especially if you play other games that need a clutch)
Budget Racing Stand: https://www.gtomegaracing.com/wheel-stands/gt-omega-steering-wheel-stand
Racing Cockpit: https://www.gtomegaracing.com/gt-omega-racing-driving-simulator-cockpits/gt-omega-art-racing-simulator-cockpit-rs6
Providing you have a chair, that's probably the best you'll get on a budget for a wheel stand. It's a preorder though, so you will have to wait a week to get it.
Logitech \> Thrustmaster for wheels imo because they are so much more reliable. With TM, you're basically at a 50/50 whether it'll break in 2 years time, Logitech stuff run forever.
But overall, that's about $350, which is less than your budget. so if you want to spend the extra $200 on a higher end Racing Stand then it's obviously up to you. If I was in your position, I'd go with the G29 and the cockpit, but if you don't really play all that many racing games and this is just for GT, then I'd go G29 and the budget racing stand.
I found them on Amazon pretty easy. I’m on mobile, so hopefully these links work ok...

I know that the G29 is a good wheel, but I don't know about the Thrustmaster T150, but it would fit your budget.
You could also check out this one. Logitech Driving Force G29 Racing Wheel for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00Z0UWWYC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_wtLfAb7WCNPBG
Apparently the wheel isn’t as good as the T300, but the pedals are better
These are the 2 that are discussed the most around here I’ve found
Other options could be the t150 and t50, but I don’t know about those prices.
Well, it is expensive. The wheel I got on sale for Christmas ($199):
http://mobile-gaming.logitech.com/en-us/product/g27-racing-wheel
The seat for my birthday (full price listed):
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005ZQAGIU/ref=redir_mdp_mobile/188-8546093-8227452
Without the wheel in general, I don't know if if still be playing GT6, it is that much better with everything. I had 220 hours around there before the wheel, now I'm at 310 hours with everything. Those last 100 hours would have not been there if I had a controller.
I highly recommend this:Next Level Racing wheel stand.
It's incredible stable, no center bar, full adjustable, and 100x better than my custom TV stand that I outfitted with metal plates for added stability and worked well with my G25 for about 7 years - I would place about 20lbs of free weights on top to stop the wobble. Now that I updated to a FANATEC I needed something better. I was skeptical at first but after 6 months of continued use I wouldnt go any other way.

G29 is going for $206 plus tax on amazon, might want to look into it.
I've got the G29 it's a fine wheel. Not the best but plenty comfy and accurate. if you wait for the one day sales on amazon, you can get it for $199. It usually drops 2 or 3 times a year. Set a watch reminder on camelcamelcamel for it.
