Little late to this party but

I plan on getting the 5th Anniversary Revoltech Gurren Lagann w/ Gurren Wing. I don't like the look of the other figures, and this one doesn't have the little drills and it comes with the wings. It'll be my first Revoltech figure so that's an added bonus.

I honestly don't like the proportions of the SRC GL, parts of the biceps and thighs seem too small to me, and although the differences aren't really that great, the SRC is still too expensive for me. a nice $50 price point is perfect.

The only concern I have is how it'll scale next to my decently sized collection of Transformers, but that's another story.

Because this is three months after the thread, OP, did you end up picking one? And if so, which? yadda yadda yadda, how do you like it, what's the size, all that jazz. I'm in the same boat you were 3 months ago.

Link This is the one i got, its pretty nice quality, except that the paint fades after some time, so it loses it yellow color.

I got this for ~10€ in the german Amazon store.
It was an america inport and it took like a week to arrive.
It was definitly worth the wait.

Off the top of my head you have two options:

The first is the Revoltech Gurren & Lagann (http://www.amazon.com/Gurren-Lagann-Revoltech-66-Action/dp/B0027FF4M0)

You can see in the side pictures that Lagann is included, but it's kinda tiny, which is somewhat inescapable since Lagann is much smaller than the Gurren.

The other, and much pricier option, is the Kanzen Henkei version of Gurren Lagann (http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail?gcode=FIGURE-001882). This series, in general, is unique for allowing complete transformation of their figures. In this case, it means that you can combine Gurren & Lagann into a full Gurren Lagann figure. But it's also really expensive and out of production right now, so you'll have to pick it up second hand/resold.

Personally, I would just recommend buying full Gurren Lagann figures instead!

Yes.

"is it in English?"

Part of the series was localized. There are 10 volumes total, but Bandai only did the first 6 in English (that goes up through the fight with Lordgenome).

"if so who's the company that releases it?"

Bandai Entertainment; however, they stopped production on all of their properties about 5 years ago (which was shortly after Vol. 6 came out in English). Instead, they're only licensing (to other companies) the properties that their Japanese parent company holds instead of doing it themselves.

They've stopped producing new ones, so it's a hefty price if you're looking new, but you can still find used ones making the rounds. Here's the Amazon page of Vol. 1 for example:

I've actually been emailing some of the major manga distributors in the US every few months to see if they'd be willing to pick it up since Bandai abandoned it. I've even offered to work with them to create a Kickstarter to crowdfund it as I believe there's a sizable portion of the anime fanbase that wouldn't mind having the manga version too. Alas, none of them have given me anything more than a "We're not interested at this time, but check our social media for new releases!"

I went to Kadokawa as well to see what it might take if I wanted to personally buy the licensing rights (I'm not a translator, but I'm sure I could find one here in the US willing to work with me). Unfortunately, they told me that they don't deal with individuals, only businesses. The impression I got was that even if I went and made an LLC just for this (which is its own hassle not guaranteed to get me the licensing rights) that they wouldn't really listen unless I was a big name producer like Viz or Yen Press.

I really want it, but I don;t know if I can justify the extra £60 for what's essentially an outer box (from what I can tell). The £43 version on amazon has eps 1-27, and claims to have all the other extras as well. I decided to just surf around and look for a good chain since all the reviews on the drill complained about the necklace it comes with.
