GET THEM ALL!!!! Just kidding ^^^^^but ^^^^^not ^^^^^really

If you are interested in the story I would recommend getting Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary first in order to get an idea of what Halo is about. It is basically the first Halo game, Halo: Combat Evolved, but remastered for the Xbox 360 on its 10 year anniversary. It has the entire first game's campaign and a multiplayer portion using the engine from Halo: Reach (we'll get to that in a moment).

If you are still interested in the story, go for Halo 2 next. It is for the original Xbox, but is also compatible with the 360 so you can play the campaign. It no longer has online multiplayer, though, so it is only good for local custom games and the campaign.

If you purchased Halo 2 you are probably interested enough in the Halo universe to continue the Master Chief's story. The next game will be Halo 3. Halo 3 is a great game and still has online multiplayer, though it is fairly sparse right now.

Note: Halo 3 will become available for free download on July 1st if you have Xbox Live Gold.

Halo 4 is the next game in line that follows the story of the Master Chief, however, there are two other games that were released between them.

Halo 3:ODST is one of these two games. It takes place during the events of Halo 2, but you play as a normal soldier rather than the Master Chief who is a Spartan. Spartans are basically supersoldiers. Normal humans who were augmented to be faster, stronger, and smarter than normal people. It is a fun game and comes with the Halo 3: ODST campaign and a second disc that contains all the multiplayer maps for Halo 3 which allows you to play Halo 3 online.

The other game is Reach. In Halo: Reach you play as a Spartan supersoldier, but not the Master Chief. This game takes places chronologically before the first Halo game, Halo: CE, but was released in 2010. It still has a decent multiplayer population, but I am not sure if is more than Halo 4.

The final game is Halo 4, the newest in the series. It follows the story of the Master Chief after Halo 3, and I believe it has the most populated multiplayer as of right now. Though, the numbers are still fairly low compared to other shooter games out there. This will be the game you will want if you are only interested in online play.

Too Long Didn't Read

If you are interested in campaign and storyline go for:

  • Halo: CEA

  • Halo 2

  • Halo 3

  • Halo 4

  • Halo 3: ODST ^*

  • Halo: Reach ^

    ^
Play these any time you want after Halo 3.

If you are only interested in playing online multiplayer go for:

  • Halo 4

  • Halo: Reach

  • Halo 3 (which will be free on July 1st!)

I would recommend Halo 4 over Reach, hopefully someone will be better informed on multiplayer populations than I am.

    ----

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions! :D

No problem! And thinking back, if you just want to show him more Chief, most of Halo 4 is safe to show. Though you may be wary of Cortana's physical appearance and the fact that she appears to be mostly nude.

The intro cutscene to Halo 4 is great and has some action, it even shows you that the Chief started off as a 6 year old kid, but at the same time it is kind of dark. Just be sure to DEFINITELY avoid the cutscene at 46:07: https://youtu.be/MlQeLoTUoZE

After combing through the Halo 4 cutscenes though, I am reminded of the mature storytelling so it might be a bit boring for a 5yo.

Halo 3 should be mostly safe, it's even kind of campy: https://youtu.be/8e1No_Oo8f8

You do have the Halo CE cutscenes too and they should be okay even with the Flood, but they're kind of dated. I'll link them anyway: https://youtu.be/32wp-gaRX8Q

Lastly, I was thinking over Halo Legends, and all of them should be okay minus "Homecoming" and "The Duel". PROTOTYPE is super action oriented but does have some blood and gore.

Also, what just crossed my mind is Halo: The Fall of Reach Animated Series, which is on Netflix. That should be okay for your son. It's a lot like Ender's Game if you've seen the movie/read the book.

Last but not least, a Scholastic Halo Guide was recently released called The Official Spartan Field Manual. It's meant for most ages, but I think your son would find the pictures and general feel of the book pretty cool. Here's an Amazon link to it: https://www.amazon.com/HALO-Official-Spartan-Field-Manual/dp/1338253638

The Xbox One S is shockingly cheap. I picked one up for $250 with BF1 included. The 500 GB One S is going for $261 on Amazon right now, BF1 (which I also think is a pretty fun game for a while) included. It's a sexy little machine; the One S is the Xbox we should have got at launch. Even the lack of power brick adapter is a much welcomed feature lol. I get endless hours of enjoyment from Halo 5. Don't let the haters taint your judgement, this game is amazing, the arena multiplayer is perfectly tuned IMO. The campaigns of the previous games are a blast to play, as anybody will tell you.

Is anybody besides me tired of the bullshit difference between Amazon.ca and Amazon.com?

Why is there such a discrepancy between the two. [Taking a look at Amazon.com, you see a great price] (http://www.amazon.com/McFarlane-Toys-Series-Didact-Deluxe/dp/B00770KPYC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1382965410&sr=8-1&keywords=didact). I get excited for such a great deal, but since I'm in Canada, I can probably get free shipping through the Canadian version of the site. Let's quickly pull up the Canadian website. Oh, double the price? Right, that makes PERFECT sense.

I currently use a 27" ASUS VG278HE

  • 144hz which is only good for PC gaming as consoles are limited to 60fps cause their console limitations, 2ms, LED. Xbox, PC, Playstation. I use it for pretty much everything gaming. I love it. I can't stand 22 or 24" as they're just too small (believe it or not it's true, some people just need bigger screens :P)

It can be had on Amazon right now for $372

There is also the BenQ XL2720Z for $470 and the BenQ XL2720T for $450

Cheaper than any 32" as they normally run $800+ especially if you're looking for a gaming monitor with low input latency in the 2ms~ range.

I'm sure others will continue to tell you to get a 22-24" as it's "best" but really that's all subjective opinion and you should take your own opinions, do some research, and get something that works for you. If you prefer bigger screens - get a bigger screen just know that as I said before the bigger you go with gaming in mind the more expensive it will be.

    Good luck!

I recommend looking on Amazon.com at brands like Vivo, Mount-It, and AmazonBasics for good mounts for reasonable prices.

If a single triple monitor mount is not enough to properly fit all of the monitors you could get 3 singles. Make sure all of your screens have VESA mounting holes. If they have different VESA mount sizes you can get size adaptors.

Triple monitor mount 1: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BDT072S/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_U_x_VD5OCbJX1ZC75

Triple monitor mount 2 (more flexible): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06X9D7JWP/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_U_x_uD5OCbF76S6YM

Single monitor mount (X3): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B21TLQU/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_U_x_xE5OCbW8QX4H4

Once you go VESA mounted you never go back, so worth it man. I have my TV mounted on a VESA arm for playing Halo/Xbox, and my work desk has double monitor setup is VESA mounted too and it's worth the cleaness and space saving.

My awesome cousin bought me ALL OF THE BoomCo Halo nerf guns. I am beyond elated.

Dear god, no. Don't ever watch another video from Halo Follower unless you want blatant misinformation and sensationalism. If you want to jump into Halo's lore, there is no better place to start than with the book that began the entire series: https://www.amazon.com/Halo-Reach-Definitive-Editi-Nylund/dp/B00BXUD6PW/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1500592371&sr=1-2&keywords=fall+of+reach+definitive+edition

If however, you want an EXCELLENT guide to the entire Halo story, pick up this: https://www.amazon.com/Halo-Mythos-Guide-Story/dp/1681193566/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1500592477&sr=1-1&keywords=halo+mythos

Your best bet for getting one of the Metal Earth models is through Amazon. I know Barnes & Noble (if you have them in your area) carries them, but I don't know if they'd have the Scorpion. Otherwise you can check hobby or comic shops or the like.

Here is a list with links to Amazon if you don't have the books yet.

In chronological order I'm fairly sure it's:

If I were just playing ODST by myself I wouldn't spend more than $30 on it but it is well worth it for anything less than that. Since Amazon has it for less than $20 I'd say buy it!

or you can pick up in store at Toy'R US for the same price.
(which is where I picked up mine. use the Toys'R Us website to figure out if you can pick up there. they also have free shipping!) http://www.toysrus.com/buy/see-all-blasters/boomco.-halo-unsc-ma5-blaster-dxd58-94348446

You can get them shipped to Aus through Amazon, I think I paid like $30 AUD total for mine.

BoomCo M6D Green

30AUD with shipping isnt that bad considering exchange rates

This sort of thing kind of exists. When my friend informed me that she was going to New York for Comic Con, I gave her $40 for her to find me something awesome to buy. She came across the boxed soundtracks from Halo 1 - 2 (both volumes) with the Halo Wars soundtrack DVD bundled in. I still have it, shrink wrapped and all.

u/smile_e_face · 1 pointr/halo

If anyone is interested, Amazon US has it in stock from someone called Animewild. It's not eligible for Prime, though.

u/GoodReplays · 1 pointr/halo

I say it is worth it for the campaigns.

Also, if you insist on downloading it digitally. Amazon is selling download codes for $40 (http://www.amazon.com/Halo-Master-Chief-Collection-Xbox-One/dp/B00KSQHX1K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1451538356&sr=8-1&keywords=halo+mcc).

Note the Amazon code is US only in case you are international.

It's made by BoomCo. Here it is on Amazon. I got one as my Reddit Secret Santa gift this year

Don't know how to embed URLs, sorry.

It comes in bright red and blue, like the BoomCo skins in Guardians. I did the paint job myself with matte black and gray spray paint.

Unfortunately the darts aren't fired through the barrel, there's an opening between the barrel and the flashlight/handguard. So it might be a bit wonky to install, unless you cut out the AR's barrel and slot in the M4 there.

u/Heinskitz_Velvet · 1 pointr/halo

Where did you get $460 from?

You can go on Amazon right now and get a 500gig BF1 XB1 bundle for $250, and Halo 5 is $18.

If you search on Craigslist or your local shops you can get it for even cheaper.
