I have an XDm in .45, along with several Glocks (9mm and .45). I love the XDm and bought an XDs in .45 last year as I was intrigued by the size as a potential for every day carry.

I shot the XDs four or five separate times at the range (100+ rounds each time) and just could not get comfortable with it. The grip almost felt like I was holding a cheese grater against my fingers - just below the trigger guard, where my non-trigger fingers grip the gun.

I suppose if I just carried the gun and needed it in a self-defense situation I would not notice the grip comfort issue. It is just that I tend to shoot my carry gun a lot, and the XDs was just not for me. I think the smaller and lighter the gun frame, the more you feel the gun in your hand while shooting (recoil, etc.). So I ended up selling it. I have a Glock 21 for my night stand home defense gun, and a Glock 19 as my every day carry (I shoot both often). Too bad, because I really liked the feel and fit of the XDs, just not shooting it.

I only shot the XDs in .45acp, so I can't speak to the same gun frame in 9mm. But I would highly recommend shooting one before you make the switch from your Glock to an XDs. Also, I probably should have tried something like this, as it looks like it would alleviate the rough grip issue I was having. I had long since sold the gun before I realized I should have tried a grip sleeve, but in an ideal world add-ons should not be required to make an every day carry gun serviceable.

I have a lot of ear plugs, these are my favorite for shooting: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001V2SS9G

I wear them under a cheap pair of noise cancelling headphones when I can: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001T7QJ9O

Like others have said, something like this little tool kit. I've used this type of tool once, though it was on a larger bolt I snapped off in my dirt bike. Worked like a charm. No doubt you can find ultra small versions, but you'll need to mount your slide in a vice in order to work on it.

Doubtful. The trigger guards do not look similar. This one will fit though - and Amazon has it cheaper than the one you were looking at too. https://www.amazon.com/LaserLyte-Laser-Taurus-Slim-Pistol/dp/B00GVFEZ18

I'd personally highly recommend earmuffs with a NRR of 30 (instead of 22), especially for indoor shooting. The low profile stuff doesn't matter nearly so much until you've got a rifle.

Dovetail mount for red dot. You can buy a shitty one for less than $20 and try it out in two days..

What you have is fine.

I personally use CLP for cleaning and lubrication. I put a very thin layer of Tetra grease on the rails.

One thing I would invest in is a boresnake. They make cleaning the barrel easy as hell.
