It also looks like it has been pretty heavily used based on the guard plate scuffs and the motor housing. $65 new brand name vs $40 used HF w/o legit warranty... idk man. Splitting hairs at that point imo

edit: $55 Makita & $67 Dewalt searching amazon for like 30 seconds

Not HF but I bought this $38 self leveling laser level from Amazon and it's actually been working well -- always tested true level with my bubble levels

If you are working on things that get scratched easily, make sure to also buy a non-marring jaw cover for the vise! they're made out of some type of rubber or plastic and won't ruin your "stuff." Something like this.

Certainly looks like a nice winch, and I'm sure it'll be $599 on a coupon before long. A fully covered, high speed winch with a synthetic rope is a step up from the utilitarian Badlands winches so far. That being said, you can get the same thing from Warn for $850. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07SGG81RR/ref=dp_ob_neva_mobile

I'd rather have a Warn than a harbor freight, even if they're both made in China.

Are you talking about this one: http://www.harborfreight.com/5-speed-bench-top-wood-lathe-65345.html ? It is variable speed, you just have to stop and change the belt to a different pulley. (though that's not electronic like you said)

The best thing about this lathe is that it's the same lathe a handful of manufacturers sell so you can get parts and accessories pretty easily. For instance I got a bed extension so I can turn table legs on it now.

For a bicycle, get a torque key and call it a day.

I personally use a [Ritchey Torque Key](Ritchey Torque Key Bike Torque Wrench - 6-Bit Set, 5Nm Preset Max Torque https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SU86GCK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_kNfWDbPHT1AFQ). Works Great for all the smaller bolts. Anything requiring more torque, like bottom brackets and cassettes, just wing it.

I have the same ones, they're awesome.

I paired them with one of these mag-clip trays that I use for all the specialty sockets, torx and driver heads and the like.

That's because they're cheap ebay junk lights. Good ones are just straight on/off with a click and have other modes and adjustable brightness if needed.

ThruNite Neutron 2C for example.

I have 3 grinders:

  • Dewalt DEW402
  • Portercable PC60TPAG
  • An older HF 5 or 7 amp.. can't recall which.

I listed these in specific order of my favorite, second favorite, and third. Depending on what I'm doing, I lean pretty hard on these grinders from time to time and all three are fantastic. The HF is slightly underpowered compared to the dewalt, but it was always 1/3rd the cost! If you can spare a few extra bucks, I'd probably swing for the Porter Cable personally... however, I have no doubt the Chicago Electric would probably last you a good long time.

Picked up a PowerTec 20’ flex hose from Amazon... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LPOR42M/
It’s nice and seems very thick. Works very well with the dc and a 2” reducer at the very end for my table saw.

Not even 5 minutes after taking delivery. I unlocked the box, opened the top drawer. Removed the key in what I thought was the unlocked position and put it in the top drawer.

I've tried using a circular lock pick tool with no luck. I called a locksmith and he came over and tried using my tool with no luck and charged me $30, lmao.

I really didn't want to have to drill a brand new box before even putting any tools in it. I'm gonna call Harbor Freight tomorrow but from what I've read they don't provide new keys.

Any ideas?

The 150 is the better bet because it's clip on, instead of cigarette lighter. But if you're gonna pay retail prices, might as well just go this route https://www.amazon.com/Viair-00088-88P-Portable-Compressor/dp/B005ASY23I

My little Makita is a “big bore” design, similar power to what the HF 21g claims. Nice and quiet. Under 80db from a few feet away.

I’ve been thinking about doing a bad thing… sticking the Makita’s pump & motor into the big cheap HF tank and throw away the noisy HF assembly.

Definitely interested in the new stuff from HF!

thanks... just can't believe they'd sell an uninsulated 'hot' wire fuse, wanted to be sure I wasn't missing something... I'm going to wrap this around it... https://smile.amazon.com/X-Treme-Tape-TPE-XR1536ZLB-Silicone-Rectangular/dp/B00HWRORX0

Yeah, I noticed the new socket rails when I stopped in Monday night. Don't appear to be on the web site yet. I don't remember the price, but it didn't seem outlandish to me. Though I'm looking at the price for the ones I recently bought on Amazon and I don't think HF was beating that price. In fact, I'm thinking it maybe been $12.99 for the 1/2" rail at HF vs. $10.99 on Amazon. The fact that I can get the Amazon ones in different colors would make me choose them even at an equivalent price. I want all my SAE storage to be red and my metric to be blue or black.
