Neither, I would recommend going with a Razer Naga Epic, you can choose between wired or wireless and you have three interchangeable side panels that provide an optimized fit for different hand sizes and grip styles. I've used mine for almost 2 years and it's great and I also used the Razer Naga Hex before that and that lasted awhile too! :) I hope this helped you out, if you would like to check it out on Amazon click here.
dont buy a gaming headset, the sound quality is very bad compared to regular headphones of the same price. most of the cost of a gaming headset is because of marketing and theyre based on regular headphones that are half the price.

theres an example of headphones that are good for the price, but they come without the microphone attached
http://www.modmic.com/collections/frontpage
and then you can just attach a mod mic and you have the sound quality of a $200-300 headset with $100
but if you just want a gaming headset the hyperx cloud is the best, not the best option imo though
edit: forgot to mention the padding is usually less comfortable on gaming headsets as well

those are good too for the price, possibly better but ive never used them so i couldnt say

Headset: not really into this but id reccomend some surround sound headphones and comfy ones
I have a turtle beach headset that i used to use for my faze clan gaming days but i was too g0d and got quickescoped one day and i cried. http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-G230-Stereo-Gaming-Headset/dp/B00BFOEY4I/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1410637645&sr=8-3&keywords=headset something like this headset should be good.
Ok, so I understand the intention of that rule, and agree with it that we should try to eliminate unfair advantages for people.
But when it comes to things like this that are entirely clientside and completely undetectable, it's probably a good idea to just let them be. I could play with a nostromo pad, or a programable keyboard, or a Dvorak keyboard, and as fas as the client knows I just pressed the "9" key, regardless of what my mapping is.
It's like making a rule that says "All players must wear pants while logged into the server". You can't detect it, and you can't enforce it
I've purchased probably 6 or 7 different headsets and I recommend the ones I currently have. Logitech G430s are extremely comfortable and aren't too expensive.

yes i just got this one and it is the best mic/ sounding headset for the money i spent. No noise pick up at all just your voice when you speak and very clear.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0042Y2F76/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It says for PS3 which yes it can be used but it also is able to be plugged right into your pc to so it is a pc headset.
Logitech G230's Never did me anything wrong, they're really good quality, sound is good, the mic is pretty good.. ill link you on amazon, however i don't think you're US

Software engineering is a great degree. Also, since you mentioned you work at BT, and I'm having an issue with my BT, the connection becomes poor when on one side of my house, would [this] (http://www.amazon.co.uk/BT-Dual-Band-Wi-Fi-Extender-600/dp/B00D84GVN0/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1422484675&sr=1-2&keywords=connection+booster) fix the issue?
