I've been working out at home for 6 months now with, IMO, significant improvements. I'll mention that my goal is to gain muscle, not lose weight, but you should still be able to take away something from my advice. I get a lot of my cardio from the youtube channel fitness blenders. They are super nice, easy to follow, and they have a ton of videos. I owe my budding ab definition to their videos. Secondly, I use resistance bands for all sorts of different exercises. I bought these specific ones for $25 and they're still going strong. You can double them up for added resistance as you progress. Lastly, I wound up buying adjustable dumbbells recently. They are costly, but are compact and I can change the weight in a flash. These may not be needed right away. I personally waited to get this 5 months in to make sure I was persistent with working out, so I didn't waste the money. I hope some of this helps! Good luck!

I love using my weight vest to increase my ability to do weighted squats and lunges at home since I don't have a squat rack. The heaviest dumbells I can hold are 30 lbs and I don't feel safe hoisting a heavy barbell over my head without a spotter or squat rack so I was limited to 60 lb squats for awhile until I got my vest. Here's the one I got and I LOVE it: MIR women's 30 lb adjustable weighted vest

I also use my Empower 8 lb weighted vest to do weighted Tabata intervals. I like to use this when I do Cathe Friedrich's Crossfire workout during the firewalker tabata section. It's really improved my jumping ability and height!

Rope training is good for strength but even better for cardio and core. Those are good numbers but may not translate. Do you really have that much space or are you out in your driveway? With the space to use and store it and an anchor point you should go ahead and get the 50' since your work rate is dictated by how much of the rope you are actually moving with a wave. You can go with a shorter lighter if you are really more after the cardio and core benefits.

If you want to try something that will give you a lot more exercise options and still deliver the rope workout you are looking for try this new unanchored, flexible metal core Hyper Rope 20ft short Hyperwear battle rope. It is recommended in the December Men's Health just out. If you are Amazon prime here is where you find the Hyper Rope.

I don't think you've considered a power rack, but I think you should.

http://www.amazon.com/Power-Squat-Deadlift-Bench-Racks/dp/B004UMM4QC

A power rack or cage, olympic barbell, with 200lb of weights (to start) and you're equipped for doing the best exercises out there.

Have a look at...

http://stronglifts.com/5x5/

which is a very popular strength training program for beginners.

Here is an example build I found by googling...

Are you against working out or just working out at the gym? If it's the latter check out bodyweightfitness sub. A lot of good stuff there to work out at home. I second the recommendation for a pull up bar, and would also recommend something to allow for dips and rows like this:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0093T6R4C/ref=pd_aw_sim_sbs_200_2?ie=UTF8&dpID=41OF1B-tERL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL100_SR100%2C100_&refRID=18DVED7G0HQYSVQD57WJ

Or you can buy an extension for a pull up bar like this (the one I have):

there are a lot of options for adjustable weights. Cheep, easy, flexible and will be better then nothing. Walmart even sells them, here is a link for an example - Amazon link

Here is a 3 day split that requires dumbbells and a bench with video guides, might be a good start - Link

Doorframe pullup bars

screw in to doorframe. I don't like this one because it cracked the molding on my door frame.

no screws required. I don't know if this is the one you had, but I just got one and I love it.

Can be a little time consuming changing weights, but good value for the money

I have this bike and love it. I can use it on the couch or put it under my desk.

I read the same about digital scales but I've had mine for over a year without a problem.

I just bought an indoor bike trainer for my apartment. It basically tuns any normal bike into a stationary bike. If you already have a bicycle, it wouldn't take up that much extra space. And it is easy enough to put the bike on, or take it off. Here is a link if you're interested

I'm not a fan of the "regular" bowflex with the rods, what I don't like about it is that resistance is uneven, easier in the beginning of the movement and harder towards the end.

What I mean by bowflex dumbbells is this: http://www.amazon.com/Bowflex-SelectTech-1090-Adjustable-Dumbbell/dp/B000OC5RXE/ref=pd_sbs_sg_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=04EGJY5J14QJY3HZQ9MM

There are similar dumbbell systems done by PowerBlock or IronMaster (google them). I personally have a set of PowerBlocks and I love them, but they weren't cheap.

By resistance I mean enough weight, sometimes we get some posts around here saying something like "I have 10 pound dumbbells, what can I do with them", the answer is that unfortunately 10 pounds is not enough weight for much.
