5. Pedal Mount PEIN (Height upping Edition) is a device to keep your racing pedal and rudder pedal at a set distance from your chair as well as tilt the pedals to a more comfortable angle.

    Features:
  • PEIN's Pedal Mount will solve problems you've struggled with ever since you bought your pedals. With Pedal Mount you can do heel&toe freely and push the pedals as hard as you like. (Note: This edition does include a Pedal Mount PEIN basic edition and a Height upping kit. Add the Height upping kit on the Pedal Mount PEIN basic edition to create a gaming experience more similar to GT racing position.)
  • Pedal Mount works exactly and it is very sturdy when assembled. Pedals fixed on the pedal mount perform the way they were meant to, they don't move and they don't tip over. Once the chair is in the U-profile the pedals will not move, neither forwards, backwards nor sideways.
  • Pedal Mount will fit all pedals on the market such as Thrustmaster, Logitec, Fanatec, MFG etc. The frames and cross-rails for mounting pedal are very configurable and can be put in almost any position.
  • Pedal Mount doesn't take up a lot of space. The extension frames connecting to the chair can be folded up which reduces the footprint considerably when stowed. When fully disassembled it's extremely compact.
  • Pedal Mount also can be configured to equip various additional options such as Height upping add-on, Reverse pedal kit, Center-stick mount for flight sim games. You also can do DIY easily with extra screw taps and bolt holes in various parts of product.

It's a self-promotion post, but it also would be a helpful information for you.

Do you have to use your regular desk and office chair when you play a video game?

If yes, PEIN's Pedal Mount is recommended for you, To fix all of your gaming pedals issues.

PEIN's Pedal Mount is a device that is meant to keep your pedals at a set distance from your chair as well as tilt the pedals to a more comfortable angle that suits you.

We are sure PEIN's Pedal Mount will solve problems you've struggled with ever since you bought your pedals. With Pedal Mount the pedals perform the way they were meant to, they don't move and they don't tip over. And then you can push the pedals as hard as you like and they will stay put.

Pedal Mount works exactly as described and it is very sturdy when assembled. Once the chair is in the U-profile the pedals will not move, neither forwards, backwards nor sideways. The angle adjustment works just as it's supposed to and while perhaps making your pedal use slightly less realistic it can help a lot with comfort after long hours of play, depending on pedal type and game of course. The mount works just as well without the angle adjustment.

Assembling the mount is easy and adjusting it for your taste is straight forward. There aren't any quick latches or similar, just standard bolts that you fasten with the included allen key.

Pedal Mount will fit almost all pedals on the market. The cross-rails for mounting pedal are very configurable and can be put in almost any position.

Pedal Mount doesn't take up a lot of space. The extension frames connecting to the chair can be folded up which reduces the footprint considerably when stowed. When fully disassembled it's extremely compact.

The Pedal Mount also can be configured to equip various additional options.

Hey so I was going to make a post about this myself since I also looked at MonsterTech and wanted their mounting options for my x-55 HOTAS. I just wanted to mount to my desk to play and remove easily when I was not.

I think what you did is awesome. I just did not want to do nearly as much work and used a much simpler approach.

I got two of these:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WJOYG6Y/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Then I got 4 of these (I ended up with 8 just to be even more secure and look more symmetrical, but 4 does the job perfectly fine):

http://www.homedepot.com/p/BESSEY-4-in-x-2-in-Bar-Clamp-LM2-004/204957893

And I was able to just use them to attach the throttle and stick to my desk.

Yup...it was that simple. I will make a post about this with pictures later when I get a chance, but I wanted to share it with everyone since its one of the best ways I could find to get a high quality attachment/mount without spending the big bucks.

And yeah BESSEY makes amazing clamps. I love them! (Each clamp is rated to hold up to 330 lbs - made of all steel and wooden handle with a beautiful red paint)

u/deliciousreindeer · 2 pointsr/hotas

I wouldn't know how to mount the joystick between your legs, but I recently mounted my throttle on the left arm of my chair and my joystick on the right. I have this kind of chair and I used two of these brackets. You clamp one onto each arm, swivel them up, then just velcro your joystick/throttle onto the flat surface. Since it's velcro you can detach them anytime you want, which is nice.

The brackets are kinda expensive at $35 each, but it was pretty worth it for me, it's a very comfortable setup and honestly a lot easier than trying to build something yourself. I sit in this chair while playing Elite Dangerous in VR and it feels just like I'm in a cockpit.

There's a couple of good options at the moment, but any recommendations on my part depend on your budget.

If you want to start small, I recommend the Thrustmaster T-Flight HOTAS X. Probably the cheapest true HOTAS you can find, decent functionality, decent build quality.

Other options are the CH Products Fighterstick + Pro Throttle combo (reliable, accurate), or the Warthog (extremely good HOTAS, but expensive).

I recommend not buying Saitek products, eventhough they may seem like a good compromise between price and performance. Saitek's quality control is abysmal, their products use flimsy and cheap manufacturing techniques, their software performs poorly - just save yourself the trouble and go straight for a more reliable setup.

u/reganheath · 12 pointsr/hotas

Hmm, lets see...

CH - These are all old/well established and generally well regarded

  • Pro Throttle - Has an analog thumb stick and a linear slide (goes forward and back without going "up and over").
  • Fighterstick - No TWIST axis, you therefore require pedals for a YAW or ROLL axis.
  • Pro Pedals - I've not heard any bad things about them, often they are recommended.

The CH products are old looking but very robust and generally well regarded. The software is dated but probably the most powerful and flexible on the market today.

Saitek - Formerly MadCatz now Logitech

  • X-52 HOTAS - Has TWIST. Mid range and fairly well regarded.
  • X-52 Pro HOTAS - Has TWIST. As above, not a lot of difference between them.
  • X-55 HOTAS - Has TWIST. Older model, replaced by X-56.
  • X-56 HOTAS - Has TWIST. NEW replaces the X-55.

Saitek have been plagued by QA/QC issues and shoddy drivers. The software works fairly well, provided you avoid the bluescreens.

X-52's are generally well regarded, although some report issues with squeaks and sticktion.

X-55's have known issues with throttle wiring issues causing button failure etc. X-56's may or may not suffer the same issue with the same regularity. The X-56 is basically a revamped X-55 with a hat (throttle) and button (stick) replaced by analog thumb sticks.

My X-55 had switches which died from overuse, they are smaller switches than in other products (CH) and rated for fewer clicks so it's no surprise.

Thrustmaster - Good reputation for solid reliable hardware.

  • T-16000M - Has TWIST. A well priced accurate stick, very well regarded, has perhaps a few too few buttons on the stick itself for my liking.
  • T-Flight HOTAS X HOTAS - Has TWIST. Cheap entry level HOTAS, basic but fairly reliable for the price. You can buy the stick alone also as "T-Flight STICK X".
  • FCS HOTAS - Has TWIST. The revamped T-16000M with the new TWCS throttle.
  • TWCS - The NEW throttle, just released, has mixed reviews.
  • Warthog HOTAS - NO TWIST on the stick, but other than that I know very little about it.

The Thrustmaster software is relatively good, not as flexible as the CH, but more reliable that the Saitek stuff.

VKB - Russian? company which makes replica/sim gear not exactly aimed at space flight

  • Cobra M5 - Old very popular model, still available in the UK/EU. Very light stick movement, plenty of buttons, nice mode selector on the stick itself. No macro software in the more recent revisions with cheaper electronics. Some models exhibit jitter and issues with TWIST axis recentering.
  • Gladiator - Has TWIST. Good plastic gimbal, interesting "no wobble" free recentering and intentional soft middle feeling. NOT available in the EU/UK due to licensing restrictions, Speedlink AIRROW and Ravcode Javelin are based on it but have slightly worse precision/software/and some internals IIRC.
  • Gladiator Pro NO TWIST. Full metal gimbal, high precision, plans for future grips to swap in and out. Available in the EU/UK.

No doubt I have forgotten some..

I bought PEIN mounts on Amazon, kind of expensive, but great quality. They also come with the adapter plates and rails for a bunch of bases, including WarBrd. I think that they are out of stock right now (there were 6 and I bought 2), but they will probably restock any day now.

There are other options, but these were nice and easy to grab with Amazon 2 day shipping.

J-Pein The Steel Desk Mount for The Flight sim Game Joystick, Throttle and hotas Systems. Fully Support Almost All of Flight sim Game Hand-Control Devices. (not Include Game-Device) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KJCC4Q7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_smU1CbG448BBW

You can contact the company directly through the HOTAS discord very easily if you waiting ask about restock.

I don't know about robust, but I'm using one of these under $15 board only amps right now, on a 12VDC power supply:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N0PXEN4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'm feeding an Aurasound transducer with it, from the dedicated center channel output on my motherboard, so I didn't need a separate crossover: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002ZPTBI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Turned up to about 6/10 it seems to give me pretty good feedback. I don't know about how "crisp" it is TBH. [That's highly dependent on how you have a transducer mounted to transfer impulses to some other structure, which might have some resonance or flex/absorption, depending.] The amp is rated 100W into 8ohms, but it would deliver better output into a 4ohm transducer if I had it on a higher voltage supply (input can be up to 24V and they recommend 19V e.g. laptop type chargers).

Anyway, it's an option at least. So far been functioning for about 6 months of irregular use.

u/TheFaceAsano · 1 pointr/hotas

I have the second version of the first style Virpil throttle (has detents and old style grips but added 5 way hats and no analog index hat). It's really good, and I actually think I would prefer it over the newer versions as I don't need an analog hat as I mostly fly WW2 stuff and in the rare occasion I fly space stuff anymore I dual stick and already have the VPC throttle + logi quads for button/lever boxes.

Honestly if your going for a button box, something from other vendors is a better choice unless you really want analog. I would pair a Logitech throttle quad https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Pro-Flight-Throttle-Quadrant/dp/B01M00UHE3/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=logitech+throttle+quadrant&qid=1570634228&sr=8-1 with a button box from somewhere else like derekspearedesigns.com/ , which the entry level stuff is about $100. Paired with the Logi quad that would be around $160 for a setup instead of $300ish.

Used Logitech X55/56 throttles are also a really good choice for this.

u/ViolentlyShiny · 2 pointsr/hotas

The CH Pedals also slide along with toe press, it's actually pretty neat. I didn't know about it until I further inspected the pedals. There's a mod out there to make them a little more comfortable that I might also pick up. It makes it seem a lot more comfortable to use for longer periods. You can find it here: Ezemod

Hope that helps!

u/SirBedwyr7 · 1 pointr/hotas

Saitek/Logitech pedals are pretty solid and have nice mount-points to limit shifting around on the floor. However, they are pretty lightweight and I'd recommend some kind of solid piece of wood, box, wall, or other brace if you don't mount it. I ended up using this with my office chair with caster wheels and am very happy with it: https://www.amazon.com/distance-comfortable-PlayStation-2-3-4/dp/B07PRRPV8V

u/cm2202 · 4 pointsr/hotas

Hi, I'm only an occasional lurker on this sub but I can help a little here. I was searching for info and stumbled on an Italian store listing three variations, HOTAS, stick only and a 'Flight Pack.'

You may take it with a grain of salt since some store speculatively list to draw early pre-orders, but Amazon in Germany have the same products up:

HOTAS

Flight Stick

Flight Pack

I assume the Flight pack includes the pedals?

I think Thrustmaster's own website shows the throttle separately as well, and surely they'd be crazy not to sell the items individually. I'm sure it will be possible to do stick only.

u/corbu_ · 1 pointr/hotas

IF you are perhaps interested in dual sticks, which i HIGHLY recommend for games like Star Citizen and Elite Dangerous, much more than a typical HOTAS setup... Amazon has dual T16000m's on sale for 90 bucks... thats a great price, IMO. https://www.amazon.com/Thrustmaster-16000M-SPACE-SIM-STICK-pc/dp/B076XKZML8/ref=sr_1_25?keywords=thrustmaster&qid=1559234690&s=gateway&sr=8-25

>You can get adapters for old joysticks to USB, e.g.

Just FYI - This adapter don't support ForceFeedback, at the best will make and MS FFB PRO work like a ordinary 4 buttons+POV HAT joystick. But OP FFB PRO no longer exist. :)

u/Mr_Spade · 3 pointsr/hotas

I use dual T.16000m's for my setup and have been heavily considering getting some pedals to complete it. I cannot afford anything crazy like MFG Crosswinds. I'd like to spend a max of $100 on pedals, if possible.

Would a Thrustmaster T3PA be a good option for the game and would it function well enough in a Space Sim environment?

Or should I wait and see if the CH Pro Pedals come down in price a little bit more?

u/Brudegan · 1 pointr/hotas

I would go with the T.16000M (but why is it so expensive?). The new T.16000M with orange lights costs only 50€ in Europe and 59$ in the US link.

But if you can spend more (and i mean a lot more) i would go for a VKB Gladiator Pro or the better Gunfighter plus pedals. I just ordered a pair of gunfighters with rudder predals for 900€ (plus another 500€ for better grips and twist adapters after they come out next year).

Imho is for space sims a dual stick setup the best option because you need 6 axes (one for each of the 6DOF). Right now i use 2 T.16000M til my new sticks arrive. And for warthunder you only need one stick without throttle since the T.16000M has a throttle slider.

Thanks for all the replies. Alot of options that I am leaning on. For reference Ill take a pic of the office chair I have its similar to the below similar handle bars:

https://www.amazon.com/HON-Validate-Tall-Executive-Chair/dp/B005ZC69VM

No need to take a pic of the couch as its just a couch

Interesting enough as per the pvc idea I was randomly googling and stumbled upon some adjustable speaker stands like the below that may work also. what do you guys think?

https://www.amazon.com/VideoSecu-Adjustable-Height-Satellite-Speaker/dp/B000VRREPG/ref=pd_rhf_gw_p_img_3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=JANCXA1MJQB7K7QZ59NM

I also was researching racing wheel stands as it is harder to find flight stick rigs and stumbled upon these that may also work I guess:

https://www.amazon.com/Next-Level-Racing-Flight-Pack-pc/dp/B01CXYJJIE/ref=pd_rhf_gw_p_img_5?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=JANCXA1MJQB7K7QZ59NM

Maybe the better rig and cheaper with center stick possibility

As for the JPien I checked it out but not sure if I can buy 2x of those to stick on my office chair if that work, is it possible? Guessing the center piece can go where the leg strut is maybe to fit between the legs?

Alternatively that ikea laptop stand looks really really good and a small price also. Im thinking maybe can buy 2x and use my office chair and set 1x up on the left side and the other in the center of the chair

https://m.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/art/20242767/

Alot of options to run with here I suppose tough choice what to aim for

That being said it looks like it for preorder outside of the states and bhphotovideo.com also has one.

EDIT: welp they are available in the sates for preorder now amazon link I don't understand why they would send an email saying they don't know if they will be selling it on its own when they were going to allow stores to announce that they are the very next day.

Those are the ones I got, The mount around the arm-supports of my chair, and I use one of the hinges to make the bracket parallel to the floor. (Those hinges are what I loosen to spin the stick and falcon out of the way when not in use)

They also have some with more hinges/gimbals if you need to get more rotation/length out of the mount.

EDIT: I should say, it took a bit of drilling to put screw-holes in the right places on the X-65f mount-plate. And the Falcon is attached a bit more... sketchy. It's a heavy bastard and took a bit of futzing to work, but that's also the reason I still have that big wide "foot" still on it too, best mounting support without damaging the Falcon's body.

u/LT_InZane · 1 pointr/hotas

Seems like its been pulled from preorder on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Saitek-Flight-Controller-SCB432210002-01/dp/B01CZTSS3O?ie=UTF8&*Version*=1&*entries*=0

Dont know why, but if they pulled it from preorder. Its 1 of two options, either they cant meet the amounts of preorders. Or (Lets just hope its this one) They pulled the product for quality reasons. If they make a MK.2 mod of the x-56 with better quality then im probably back on the hype train. But until that happens im not buying a Saitek product with this poor quality.

u/LancerVI · 2 pointsr/hotas

I just purchased the Pein mounts a couple of weeks ago for my TM Warthog HOTAS and they're great and not too expensive.

Also, they easily unclamp for when your husband needs to go into work mode.

https://www.amazon.com/Mount-Joystick-Throttle-Hand-Control-Game-Device/dp/B07KJCC4Q7

Please note that you will need two of these mounts; one each for throttle and stick.

u/fallout9 · 11 pointsr/hotas

None of those worth your money, they are outdated devices with old components and lots of issues (search on Reddit about it).

Best and cheapest combo on the market at this point:

  1. VKB Gladiator MKII - $84 ( https://vkbcontrollers.com/?product=vkb-sim-gladiator );
  2. TWCS throttle - $79 ( https://www.amazon.com/ThrustMaster-2960754-Thrustmaster-TWCS-Throttle/dp/B01L28LVUG/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=twcs&qid=1571860005&sr=8-1 )

    Total: $163.

Additionally you could upgrade your setup by getting a Kosmosima grip and an adapter for $100 ( https://vkbcontrollers.com/?product=gladiator-upgrade-kit-lite-w-mcg-bundle-2 ) like here: https://youtu.be/x_LXh5LTJL4

Well, I skimmed through your videos, and thank you for your input, however, the work you are talking about it beyond my skill level. I found a T160000M direct from Amazon for $60 new, so I ordered one. If I like it, I will probably order a second one. If I decide I would prefer to use a throttle, I still have the throttle from my X-55.

Now I just need to figure out what to do with these old sticks....

There are better sticks and throttle but this was what I saw being recommended for starting out. I also highly recommend trying VR for elite. I got to borrow an odyssey plus headset over the weekend and it was a whole new experience. I’ll probably be looking into a headset over Black Friday.

u/MrTheOx · 2 pointsr/hotas

Yes you can use the CH throttle with 3D pro to make it a hotas. The difference between the fighter stick and the combat stick are; The Fighter stick replaces two of the buttons on the Combat stick with 4 way hats.

Combat Stick = 3 axis and 18 buttons (six push buttons, one 4 way hat switch, and one 8 way point of view hat)

Fighter Stick= 3 axis and 24 buttons (three push buttons, one mode switch button, three 4 way hat switches and one 8 way point of view hat).

Ch Pro Throttle = 3 Traditional push buttons, 1 mode switch button, 3 4-way directional hat and 1 8-way POV hat switch

Depending on what you're playing you may not need all the hats on the Fighter Stick if you get the pro throttle. If you're not looking to spend a lot and are happy wth 3-d the Pro throttle seems to be a nice addition.

Later on, down the road, if you want to upgrade you could get pedals and by the warthog stick separately. Or just buy a new hotas and sell the CH throttle on ebay.

if you're doing flight sims and like your stick I would get the CH throttle and either make your own or purchase a head tracker, (track IR). For flight sims, it's more essential than rudder pedals

u/Marrond · 1 pointr/hotas

Save another 29$ and get THIS. Avoid T.Flight Hotas X - it's complete trash, You might as well order cheap Chinese no name hotas and get better bang for your buck. As for Xbox compatibility - forget about it. Microsoft allows only licensed peripherals and there isn't any worth a broken penny (just like vast majority driving wheels outside for ridiculously overpriced "high" end are hot garbage). What do you intend to play on it anyway? I can't recall single console game benefiting from joystick...

u/KnLfey · 2 pointsr/hotas

I had a question about that. It says 2 to 5 weeks, not preorder.. is it the same as a preorder? They have just the throttle on there currently but it says "preorder price guarantee" and lists a release date...

I'm going for this next month. I'm RHD trained (UK) so the shifter shelf will stay on the left side permanently. According to reviewers the wheel shelf drops down low enough to centre-mount your joystick. Another added bonus is that you can use any seat with a 5-spoke base - most gaming or office chairs should fit. I'm limited with space & it tucks away nicely.

I would have bought it this month but I got lucky in the Virpil re-stock. Alas my new Throttle is too heavy for the VESA TV bracket I'm using as a desk mount so a sim-rig is now a must-buy.

I would go VKB Gladiator MKII because it use contactless sensor on all 3 stick axes. So.. More accurate and most importantly maybe more durable! And for the throttle I would take the Thrustmaster TWCS (You'll probably want to re-grease it frequently, it is easy to do on this throttle, but annoying..). Sadly there aren't other standalone throttle that could fit your budget and not feel like a downgrade compared to the X55, to my knowledge.

The 3D rudder might offer you some possibilities, some accessibility back :finger crossed:

4 axes, so the hope is that one (or at least one) might be ok for you?

Actually at that price, the Gladiator is a much better value at ~$99.

Thrustmaster FCS is exactly this... and outperforms many HOTAS that cost more.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/ThrustMaster-3935075-Thrustmaster-T16000M-Hotas/dp/B01H6KXGDY ...of course in UK it costs more than anywhere else (Brexit?), but it's still pretty close to your range. Outside UK it's $120 USD...

Those are indeed excellent pedals. I had some I used for a long time and I loved them. I sold them and my X52 Pro just before Elite was announced. I got more than I paid new for both, since I'd picked them up on sale.

I missed the Kickstarter because I'm not a huge fan of most crowdfunding things. It was just kind of funny how it was maybe a year after I sold them that that I first heard about Elite. Picked it and an X55 up as soon as Elite was finally released and played it for a long while, then got bored and missed out on the Lifetime Pass option. :/ As you might imagine, I've been reading the updates religiously ever since even when I'm taking a break from the game.

Anyhow, the pedals I'm eyeballing are the Thrustmaster TFRP Flight Rudder Pedals. For the price, they look halfway decent. The measurements look as though they'll fit in my foot area OK. I keep hoping maybe a friend will pick a set up and I can test them before purchasing but if not, Amazon's great about returns if necessary.

T16K HOTAS is a great starting point for E:D. There's a package with the TFRP rudder pedals as well but you don't lose any functionality in E:D without them. The twist rudder becomes second nature.

I'd be willing ,I play many flight sims, ordering an X52 today currently have this (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001CXYMFS?pc_redir=1406791486&robot_redir=1) , also I mainly fly whole using track ir.

Games I play;

Warthunder
FSX
IL-2 Cliffs of Dover
Kerbal Space program
Every Arma game.

u/Layin-Scunion · 1 pointr/hotas

These are the pedals I use. They've been great! And they have toe brakes which are hit or miss with high end pedals.

u/alphakause · 3 pointsr/hotas

It's from this desk mount:

J-PEIN (Upgraded): the desk mount for the flight sim game joystick, throttle and hotas systems. Fully support almost all of flight sim game hand-control devices. (not include game-device) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KJCC4Q7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_7KcCDbT1SWRSN

u/sixgunmaniac · 2 pointsr/hotas

If you can afford to save a little extra money for it, I'd also recommend this Thrustmaster T16000M FCS HOTAS https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KCHPRXA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_ujvDDbF4K96Z6. It's $130 And it's what's I'm currently using. It has enough buttons to use completely alone in elite dangerous. It's personally what I would recommend to you but if you're committed to spending less than 100 the hotas x is it.

u/Insaniac99 · 1 pointr/hotas

I agree that if this is a first foray into HOTAS, get the T. Flight HOTAS X

If it isn't a first foray then it depends on how much you want to spend, CH products are great, but most dot like their looks and every piece of kit has some disadvantages so you need to know a bit about what you are looking for.

I have never used the Gladiator but have broken a t16k. Everything I have heard about the gladiator is it is infinitely better.

I am currently running a VKB Space Gladiator on a Gunfighter base. But that is a bit of change more. I am using the TWCS throttle and it suits my needs just fine for now.

u/SpacePistachio · 1 pointr/hotas

Was possibly thinking about this. Tomorrow I'd just run to a local Bestbuy to pick that up. And I still need to buy elite dangerous lmao. I just want to start playing more flight Sims.

Why not go with the Thrustmaster FCS? It has plenty of hats and stuff on the throttle, and it's like $130 USD.

What the fuck thrustmaster...

u/firstmentando · 2 pointsr/hotas

If you want the stick and throttle, but you do not want to spend a lot of money you can try the Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X

You can also just buy the joystick you linked and use the keyboard as a throttle. This should be fine, I have done this for a while.

As for using the joystick alone: I don't think this is a good idea, since you probably don't have enough buttons there.

u/Rithe · 1 pointr/hotas

I just bought one from newegg as well, and they (as of posting) still have some in stock. Amazon sold out in 1 day

u/RaphaelVespertilio · 1 pointr/hotas

Thrustmaster just released something recently

Perhaps will be ok for you?

u/notshitashi · 1 pointr/hotas

standalone throttle still listed for Oct 1 release

update: newegg updated their standalone TWCS date to Nov, so there's a chance that the Amazon listing is outdated.

They're 59.99 on Amazon.

try HOSAS with some cheap units first, then you can drop big dollars if you like it.

Thrustmaster HOSAS for about $100 if you wait for a sale.

Thrustmaster TWCS Throttle https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01L28LVUG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_qqZoDb4SATCJ3

Gladiator mk2 can be trickier to get based on supply.

u/Remon_Kewl · 3 pointsr/hotas

That CH stick is good for helicopters in that it's very light to move and it has a very good amount of buttons. The problem is the low resolution of the sensors. The VKB Gladiator II also uses the same mechanism, it's light to the touch, and with a much higher sensor resolution, but with fewer buttons.

As for a collective, I don't think that quadrant is good for a helicopter, I've heard it has sensor noise issues, it's not very durable, and of course it has no buttons.

I'm using a Thrustmaster TWCS. There's also the CH Throttle, similar to the TWCS. The problem with both of them is that they're sliders, which means they have some problems rotating throttles don't have, but with a bit of modding I've made my TWCS very precise and light to move.
