I have an ENO and an Honest Outfitters one that I got from Amazon for about 30 bucks (including straps).

I love my ENO and it has held up wonderfully. When my wife wanted one, we decided to try a cheaper option (she doesn't use it as much) and got the Honest outfitters one. Honestly they are pretty comparable as far as quality and all goes. The straps are exactly the same (Atlas brand, same style, size)
The only real difference is when you fold them up, it seems like the ENO gets a little smaller than the other and the ENO has a little better quality drawstring. Everything else seems to be the same (size, weight, mil of fabric, stitching, etc), the ENO seems a little smaller and easier to handle, but the straps go in a separate bag instead of in the bag with the hammock like the other so that's prob why. All in all we are pleased with cheaper one just the same. I perfer the smaller size of the eno because I strap it to my camelbak and take it with me everywhere (and the awesome print)

ENO is a great option. If you don't have the money to spend then just get that Honest Outfitters one and call it a day. You aren't missing much at all. Especially for a fest hammock that's prob going to get abused and all. I can't speak for the longevity of the honest outfitter one like I can the eno (bc I haven't had it that long or used it all that much) but the fact that it's literally a 3rd of the price of an ENO makes me think that it can stand to have a little less life in the tank...

TL;DR:

ENO- Awesome all around. Expensive (maybe paying a bit extra for the name). Would still recommend.

Honest Outfitters (Amazon)- Also awesome but with very minor dips in quality, 1/3 of the price of eno, would also recommend. <-- best bang for your buck.

Bathrooms can get gross; it's really the one thorn in the side of camping festivals. That said, for a camping festival, Suwannee has really good bathroom situations. As some have mentioned, there are standard port-o-potties, pop-up showers, and actual brick-and-mortar bathroom facilities.

Dudes can usually handle the whole situation better, so not sure how many females are in that group of 6. If so, try and get to the showers early or very late in order to get warm water. Word on the street is that The Loop has the best showers at odd hours.

Myself? I like to head down to the river in the morning with some soap and a razor. Bathe in the river and shave my head ... I love it :P

Now, as to some more practical advice, you'll want something like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01IIH0ZFQ/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

You'll want a rechargeable battery. Baby wipes / TP. Warm/cold clothes, flip-flops, bathing suit, TOWELS, toiletries.

Tapestries and rope are very good for hanging and making walls around your camp site. The park is mad chill and security does not seem to be an issue but there are lots of rumors and stories about busts happening when people are out in the open or attracting too much attention. I've only seen cops/security break up a band at like 6 am.

OH, that's another amazing thing about camping out. You will have a whole village of 20k people to wander around and visit. You'll find bands, chill sessions, and sometimes even after parties or private/secret sets that have multiple thousands of dollars put into them (example: I came upon a huge area with a stage, picnic tables, chinese lanterns, and a gnarly after party once).

If I think of anything I'll add it ... OH TRAILMIX .. very easy, nutritious snack. .. but yeah you're going to have a great time.

Camping festivals pose a little extra challenge, make you get outside your comfort zone, and grant you a ton of freedom. You're gonna love it!

Our friends got us this guy after we told them how much we loved the one they had. They have the bigger size so when we go to fests together, the long side of our smaller one lines up perfectly with the short side of theirs! Super easy to clean and if sticks or high grass poke thru it just goes right back without ruining its integrity. Highly recommend!

My go to set up is a

  • Canopy ($50 from walmart, but more expensive ones will probably last longer)

  • Tent (4 person tent works for me, I bought this one on Amazon when it was on sale for $50 IIRC)

  • Air bed (standard queen air mattress, but set up your tent a few days before the festival to make sure the air mattress will fit inside the tent)

  • Bedding, blankets, pillows: Put this stuff in your car after you wake up each morning (or in a Ziploc. I use a large vacuum bag). If the nighttime temperatures drop too much the temperature deviation will cause condensation to form on everything in your tent.. aka your blankets will be wet when you come back to sleep.

  • Aside from that, some LED lights (I have a flashlight and headlamp) for walking and some LED lighting for your campsite. The guy next to me hung up 10 or so of these LED Camping Lights on the horizontal bars of his canopy, and it was great for chilling at the campsite at night

  • I have a ENO Hammock as well as the Air Hammock. The latter is what I slept on alot during Okee. I put my phone and everything in the car and just had my keys in my pocket. With a a pillow and heavy blanket I slept maybe 2 nights and several naps like that

A great lantern is definitely the way to go for inside your tent. I bought a bunch of these last year and now they went on sale (kick ass deal right now)...so I just bought 6 more strands lol these are absolutely gorgeous around a campsite (multi colored). Solar powered and last a long time. Highly recommend these :) https://www.amazon.com/Vmanoo-Christmas-Decorative-Powered-Multi-color/dp/B01H0IUSO2/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1501590022&sr=8-4&keywords=water+drop+string+lights

I've tried those, but have had...less-than desirable results. Apparently I lack the sort of coordination needed to use one without peeing all over myself. 😆

So I did the next best thing and created my very own Whiz Palace! It's essentially a large bucket with a toilet seat on top; I secure a small trash bag inside and fill with cedar shavings (like you'd put in a small pet cage), to mitigate any noise or smell. The toilet is then placed inside a pop-up shower tent and voila! I also include toilet paper and other accouterments. I change the bag and cedar daily. It's not pretty, but it beats the heck out of stumbling to a porta-potty at 5am.

You can still do GA and have flushable toilets, but it depends where you camp. There’s a “Jon condo” between the amp and meadow stages at the heart of the venue, for when you’re enjoying the shows. If you (arrive early enough to) camp near the bath house by Spirit Lake or the Grand Hall you can have access to flushing toilets, but there will be lines at peak times.

I fest and camp with my 8 year old daughter and we have one of these for just in case. Dudes piss innawoods but that’s not always possible for womenfolk, so we travel with one of these. #1 only.

u/reel_ya_in · 2 pointsr/hulaween

I bought 2 packs of those stretchy bandanas you can wear over your face, hair, neck etc and they helped out a bunch but it was still really dusty. I ended up giving a bunch away and everyone was super grateful. They don't cost much and some of the designs are really triply.

Hahaha! The 30 amp RV plug is just a beefier version of the normal 15 amp plug you have in your house with a different shape. There are lots of types of adapters, you are looking for a 30 amp male to 15 amp female. They make them the other way around for people to connect their RVs at home with so make sure the 15 amp side is female.

An example:

https://www.amazon.com/Leisure-Dogbone-Adapter-Electrical-Converter/dp/B07BZ2B22F/ref=mp_s_a_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1550085016&sr=8-13&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=30+amp+to+15+amp+adapter

Remember: 30 amp male to 15 amp female!

You’re welcome and good luck!

Hey! I think it’s very doable and you can manage to get stuff cheap! I fly down solo from NY. Last year I bought this 2 person instant tent for myself. Literally pops open, less than $50:

Coleman 2-Person Pop-Up Tent https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FGPY9CE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_W00yDbTZJWDH4

Because I fly, I did buy a hitchhiking style mattress to save on room. This isn’t the exact one but something similar:

Overmont Sleeping Pad Inflatable Extra Thickness Camping Tent Mattress Pad Waterproof for Sleeping Comfortable Compact Air Mat for Backpacking Travel Hiking Built in Pump https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JC6123D/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_710yDb3E3RH0S

That’s literally all I had to buy. I had pillow blankets clothes etc. I did buy a $8 Walmart chair but since I was solo, I honestly never used it. Sat in my car a few times. I did have a group I camped with. Met a guy on a music forum and went with his crew.

Overall, make it happen! You will not be disappointed.

u/you_know_how_I_know · 2 pointsr/hulaween

There is almost always a hammock or two on sale in the Amazon gold box, most are pretty much identical. I have one like this for day hikes and hanging around, and a Warbonnet Blackbird for my tent. It is a whole other thing from those hammocks, and is the best night of sleep I could wish for in the woods, especially after a rager.

u/bentley6891 · 2 pointsr/hulaween

I just ordered these, haven't worn them to a concert yet but they feel good and sound good so far, plus they kind of look cool too and have different color choices lol https://www.amazon.com/Loop-Earplugs-Concerts-Music-Musicians/dp/B079TZQX2V/ref=sr_1_1?crid=YQ2UGIUKA8QT

u/brad1775 · 2 pointsr/hulaween

super duper pro tip, cots are more cozy and you can buy an air mattress to put on top of one for the ultimate comfyness. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073HP1JVY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1 on top of a $45 walmart cot. added bonus, you can store stuff under your cot now.

u/RTRC · 6 pointsr/hulaween

Get your canopy with really trippy colorful tapestries for walls and then leave this in the center:

https://www.amazon.com/Portable-Activated-Outdoor-Lighting-Birthday/dp/B06ZY5J73Y/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1527781577&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=disco+lights+battery+operated&dpPl=1&dpID=41mSqCZHyiL&ref=plSrch

Very easy cheap way to create a calm colorful atmosphere. Perfect for those chill sessions at 4 am after a full day of shenanigans.

u/jbatta · 2 pointsr/hulaween

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06ZY5J73Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_B6uNEcvXadHeh

It was great for late night campsite vibes at roo when we were all still tripping. I lost it for about an hour and then it turned up and everyone was so excited. Felt like a superhero, lol.

u/SylvasTheCat · 3 pointsr/hulaween

Hey so I brought one of these last year and it was amazing! It folds up and comes with a carrying bag so it's super small to pack.

https://www.amazon.com/Camco-51091-Portable-Campfire-Ring/dp/B00KJM7K52/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=portable+fire+ring&qid=1562781913&s=gateway&sr=8-3
