My 2 cents as a long time hobby photographer with somewhat similar interests (I shoot nature, at macro and telephoto distances).

Just about any modern DSLR body will be able to do what you are asking for, but you will need very different lenses for both purposes.

Sensor size is the main factor to consider in modern DSLRs.

Full Frame bodies have a sensor inside that is equal in size to one frame of a photographic film. APS-C or crop bodies have a sensor that is smaller than photographic film, therefore you have a "crop factor" (1.5 or 1.6) which represents the part of the image produced by the lens that is captured by the sensor. In effect, this is equivalent to cropping out the edges from a full frame image. Micro four thirds is a sensor standard that is roughly half the size of a full frame sensor and cameras featuring this standard are very compact (this is related to flange distance [distance from sensor to the lens], not sensor size, but that is not important here). Pentax, Canon, Nikon and Sony make both full frame and APS-C bodies, Fuji makes APS-C bodies and Olympus & Panasonic make M4/3 bodies. I'll stick to Canon and Nikon in my recommendations here because other manufacturers are not well represented in India.

Macro

There are 4 ways to shoot macro images;

(i) The easiest way is to use a dedicated macro lens. These are lenses optimised to focus at very close distances. A "true" macro lens produces 1:1 or life-size images. What this means is that at the closest focusing distance, an object the size of the sensor will produce an image that fills the complete image frame. The Nikon 60, 105 and 200mm, the Canon 100 and 180mm, the Tamron 90mm, Tokina 100mm, Sigma 105 & 150mm are all excellent lenses. These are all moderately to very expensive, so I recommend looking in the used camera market. Most macro photography is done with manual focus, so you may be better off purchasing an older manual focus lens for 8-15k, than a newer auto focus model for 20k and up.

Pros: Excellent image quality, lenses are all built to high standards.

Cons: Cost.

(ii) Reverse mounting a zoom lens. The use of an adapter allows you to attach a lens (such as a standard 18-55 kit lens) the wrong way around and take magnified images.

Pros: Inexpensive.

Cons: Learning curve, lot of trial and error. Image quality not as good as a dedicated macro lens.

(iii) High quality close-up diopters (such as a Raynox DCR-250, Canon 250/500D, Nikon 4/6T) can be attached to the front of just about any lens to provide magnified images. You can also get cheap "close up lenses", but these will provide poor image quality. The diopters mentioned above are doublet or triplet (made of 2 or 3 lenses) assemblies that will not affect image quality to a great extent.

Pros: Pocket friendly.

Cons: None really, unless you want to nitpick.

(iv) Extension tubes are hollow tubes you place between the lens and body which magnify the image produced by the lens thanks to simple physics.

Pros: Inexpensive.

Cons: Take a bit of getting used to.

Sports

Taking pictures of fast moving objects at distances requires the use of long "telephoto" lenses. I would recommend a 300mm lens as the very minimum if you want to take pictures at cricket distances (assuming you're sitting in the stands of a stadium and trying to photograph the batsman). As telephoto prime lenses are rather large, heavy and expensive, you're better off going with a zoom lens right now.

Keeping your budget in mind, the best deal right now might be the Nikon D5300+18-55+70-300 for 48,000. The 70-300 AF-P is a pretty good lens that focuses down to about 2 feet and gives you a magnification of 1:4. Add a Raynox DCR-250 for about 7k and you have a pretty nifty macro set-up that will do a decent job with sports as well.

If you want something a bit more rugged, I'd suggest a used Nikon D7100 for about 25,000 coupled with the 70-300 AF-P for 17,000. A Raynox diopter and an 18-55 will add 10,000 to the cost.

The Canon equivalent of the AF-P 70-300 costs 36,000 (although the 55-250 can be had at that price), unfortunately. Which does not leave much for a body. There is an inexpensive Canon 70-300, along with Tamron/Tokina/Sigma variants in both Canon & Nikon mounts, however none of them offer Vibration Reduction (which the AF-P does). VR corrects for "lens shakiness" and is quite useful for beginners. Entry level Canon bodies also offer a somewhat less featured auto focus implementation compared to nikon.

If you want to go with Canon, I'd recommend the 750D+18-55 combo for 47,000 combined with the 55-250 IS for 12,000. Or, you could go with a used 7D (a 10 year old body, but still quite capable) for about 32,000 and couple it with the 55-250.

There are additional options if you'd like to restrict yourself to one form of photography. You'll also get lots of useful information if you ask this question on the photography & camera sub-reddits, as well as Indian photography focused sites such as the JJ Mehta forums.

The .1 stands for sub-woofer. So yes a 2.1 speaker will have better range when it comes to base. Generally normal 2.0 speakers are mid range speakers that usually do not have the higher end or the lower end. So it you love the "thump" you might want to consider a 2.1 speakers. Point to note here is that the Creative T40 has a much smaller woofer, hence it will produce the base, but not the "thump", additionally it has a tweeter, which will cover the high end as well.

The speakers I have recommended are some of the higher end speakers from Creative. From my experience - they are the best value for money speakers you can buy. Something equivalent from other brands like Logitech or JBL will cost you much more. Cheep brands like Zebronics and iBall are not worth considering. Philips has gone down the drain as the product is no longer theirs, they lease out their brand for royalties.

To really enjoy these high end speakers - you have to have good quality media (HD media - DTS/Dolby encoded, Not AAC, or low quality MP3). If your listening area is no larger than 12ftx12ft - these creative speakers, the clarity they offer will blow you away. You can read a lot more user reviews here on Amazon's US website.

> I agree with most of what you're saying, however doesn't r/India agree that there SHOULD be a national language?

r/India certainly doesn't agree.

>Hindi or English WILL be the unifying language in the future of India, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind about that, but wouldn't you rather it be Hindi so the nation can preserve some of its culture?

I would rather it be English than your cow-belt BIMARU Hindi.

Without English I would be totally cut off from the rest of the world. How would I get help with any computer related stuff if I couldn't read sites like stackoverflow? Please point me to a Hindi site where I can find answers to all my technical queries, which is comparable to stackoverflow.

Please point me to Hindi YouTube channels which match up to the quality of the highly informative and educational channels like Veritasium, CGP Grey, VSauce, Crash Course etc.?

Let's say I wanted to read Nicomachean Ethics by Aristotle (Originally in Greek). Please point me to a translation in Hindi. Here is the translation to English.

Thanks to my knowledge of English I can benefit from the largest common pool of knowledge humanity has ever witnessed to which people all over the world have been contributing since centuries. If I had to learn one language other other than my mother tongue, it would undoubtedly be English. To even suggest Hindi as being nearly the same to English in terms of utility is nothing but lunacy.

Don't forget to link me to all the Hindi alternatives though.

    >to enforce a language that allows all Indians to have a common identity?

There is no need for a language to allow Indians to have a common identity. We already have a common identity -

  • Complete lack of ethics and morality
  • Extremely high levels of hypocrisy
  • lack of civic sense and cleanliness
  • complete disregard for traffic rules (and rules in general)
  • things like dowry and religious bigotry
  • superstitions and lack of scientific temperament etc.

Right, this is gonna be long, so bear with me.

Morning:

  • Facewash - Cetaphil - Very gentle, doesn't dry my skin out, and one bottle lasts about 3-4 months of daily double usage.

  • Moisturizer - Aloe Veda Gel - hate the green tea extracts but the gel in itself is very soothing and sufficient for summers. For winters, I simply add a drop or two of glycerine to it and voila!

  • Sunscreen - Sunprotek Gel SPF 30 - This works well for me as it doesn't give me that shiny cast or breakouts. Still on the lookout for a good sports one which can save me from sunburns in higher altitudes. If anyone with a similar skin type (oily, sensitive, acne prone) has any suggestions, I'm all ears.

    Evening

  • Makeup remover - Johnson baby oil - takes the eyeliner and lipstick off easily. Tried coconut oil as well but it broke me out.

  • Facewash - Cetaphil (when I'm not wearing makeup and sunscreen)/Ahaglow otherwise. My skin hates physical scrubs of any kind. So every once a week, I'll wash my face with ahaglow and this just exfoliates and helps with pigmentation so much! A bottle lasts me about 6 months or more.

  • Night serum - Juicy Chemistry serum - Miracle worker! No breakouts, no greasiness, reduced scarring.. I could go on really. A 10ml bottle lasts about 2-3 months since you only need like 2 drops for the whole face.

And that's about it. I just pop on some under eye cream and lip balm both morning and evening and that's the daily routine down pat.

For more intensive care, I use this facial about twice a month in hot, muggy weather and once during drier months. It's probably the most expensive thing in my routine but oh my god, it is soo soothing! You know how your zits get kinda itchy and your skin gets greasy, hot and reddish during those awful summer months? Well, this is the answer. If you use it too much, it'll end up making your skin dry but with limited use, one bottle should suffice for an entire season. Last item i can think of is this blackhead remover strip for when I'm feeling extra fancy (about twice a year).

Check out Audio-Technica ATH-M20x seems the best you can get in mid-range from the reviews.

You can check out Sony products as well. They tend to last longer, unless you're going for their basic models. Cousin has [Sony MDR-XB450] (https://www.amazon.in/dp/B00NFJGUPW/ref=dp_cerb_3). Running fine since almost two years, tbf I found it better than Sennhieser HD 202.

Sony Extra Bass MDR-XB550AP looks good as well.

Actually, it could ( my sugar-free variant) be harmful for health! Multiple Amazon.in reviews state the following:

This is sugar free, but contain Sorbitol and Sucralose, which are harmful artificial sweeter. So why to buy this and spoil health? I will suggest ordinary Chyawanprash. Otherwise taste is good and also contain good ingredeants like Amla.

The 18 days book had some amazing artwork.

this one feels like a "motion comic" rather than the flowing animation they had in the original trailer

the voice acting (english) is a bit cringey as well. Alan Moore's Watchmen has a fantastic motion comic version. here is Chapter 1, give this a watch!

Acryllic paint used. Acryllic colors work best on fabric. This converse sneaker uses canvas fabric.

Steps for the artists over here :D

*Shoes must be brand new or crisp clean before painting*

  1. Remove shoe laces. Tape the unwanted areas like the sole border on bottom and the rubber toe part with masking tape to prevent accidental paint drips.

[Step 2 is required if your base color of shoe is non white. If it's complete white then you can start painting directly. ]

  2. First apply a base coat of white two times over the complete area you are planning to paint.

  3. After base coat start painting stuff you want like colors and stuff.

4)Paint the leaked edges, borders or mistakes you made while painting by covering them with black acryllic paint again. (black used here since the color of sneaker is black so it hides after drying)

5)Once you're happy with the paint, coat it with a sealent spray 2-3 times to prevent the paint form getting exposed to dirt and stuff. Make sure the sealent has matte finish or you shoes will turn out glossy lol. I used this spray sealent

EDIT : Added instruction for white sneakers @ step 2

EDIT : Added sealent spray link.

I found this book in a 2nd hand bookstore in Mumbai once. The book is edited by Khushwant Singh and is a collection of fiction stories across genres. The authors were not known to me, but the stories were very good.

If you want to diverge from the usual writers and explore the genre of Indian Fiction, this book is recommended

Depends on how larger your place is. Consider going for a newer router better chances of them getting security fixes. Another option is checking out routers that support aftermarket firmware.

I've had good experiences with Netgear.
R7000p: https://www.amazon.in/dp/B075JMF84S (Have installed this at a friend's place; they're quite happy with it. Good reviews but kinda old)
R6350: https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B07B1CLPXN (Should suffice, but depends on your house and the layout)
XR500: https://www.amazon.in/Netgear-Nighthawk-XR500-Gaming-Router/dp/B078GWJ44Z (Don't know if the gaming features make it worth so much though)

Prices should be lower during the upcoming Diwali sale.

Research other brands too and ask your friends/family too.

Harman Kardon Soundsticks II

I got them almost 7 years ago during some sale on Flipkart, I think. Picked 'em up for about Rs 7,000. They are by far the most exquisite sounding home-speakers I've owned. Seven years and not a single issue thus far. Anyone who comes over and listens to music on them is immediately wowed by how they handle every genre flawlessly.

That, and they look like something from outer space.

Are you dead set on just wireless headphones?

Sennheiser momentums are currently on sale for 7490 : https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B07R5ZZ23C/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A14CZOWI0VEHLG&psc=1

Alternatively, you could just get a bluetooth adapter like the fiio BTR3 and use any of your headphones that you already own. https://www.amazon.in/FiiO-BTR3-Bluetooth-Receiver-Support/dp/B07FVN14FH/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=fiio+btr3&qid=1563207457&s=gateway&sr=8-1

Bear in mind that the latter option is pricier but since the adapter supports aptxHD and LDAC, provided your music source and headphones are good, it's going to beat the sound quality of most wireless buds.

I personally use the adapter paired with my Pinnacle p1s. Streaming LDAC audio through adapter gives ~8 hours give or take on a single charge.

Might want to try aliexpress. Maybe something like this set

Another option might be to get the sand papers in the grit you need, stick it to a flat surface and use that. You should be able to get fine grade sandpaper in stores that sell automotive paints and stuff. Be sure to get wet sanding paper.

The real money sink in a DSLR platform is in the lenses. Macro lens for small insects, needs to be moderately fast, with image stabilization. Telephoto lens for sports. Base body with kit lens. Will not fit within the budget. What I can advise you is to get the Canon 1300D with 55-250 and 18-55 lens bundle for 33k or Nikon D5300 with 18-55 and 70-300 lens bundle for 48K. The D5300 is a better body but the Canon bundle will let you save some money towards a real macro lens if you are serious about macro.

If you are referring to this http://www.amazon.com/Grant-Morrisons-18-Days-Morrison/dp/1606901745/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1451908508&sr=1-1&keywords=18+days then I have already read it. All it has is character descriptions and some proposed art which looks amazing. There is a second one Volume 2: Secrets and legends but it's only my wishlist. From what I remember, Grant Morrison wanted a animated series originally. Both these books were published with whatever content they had come up with. The end goal was always the animated series though.

To me it looks like that the project got nowhere and has been abandoned, since I don't really see any updates anymore.

>Its on youtube as a motion comic, a medium which I think you're unfamiliar with

It was never marketed as a "motion comic". It was marketed as an animated series. I except more than a slideshow with background music when it is marketed as an animated show

Good knife for the kitchen, and a 'combination stone' to keep the knife sharp. A multimeter.

There's only one 'combination stone' available in the market, and that is this available online at ~Rs. 240 and offline(at least here in Sec'bad) at ~Rs. 135/-

Has your helios arrived OP?

Also, wanted to add: If anybody does buy a laptop that has a DVD drive and you don't intend to use it, you can easily turn into a second hard drive using this caddy.

Most laptops that come with a DVD drive have a 5400rpm slow hard drive. One can swap the 5400 hd for an ssd and insert the 5400 rpm drive into the caddy. That way, an ssd of 120gig will host your OS and applications while the 5400 HD of 1TB can host your multimedia.

Keep in mind however that this may effect your battery performance marginally. Also, check what the size of your DVD bay is, popular ones are either 12.7mm or 9.5. And buy a Sata one unless your laptop has IDE relics in which case you're in desperate need of an upgrade.
