RECIPE ONE: BASIC BREAD

Alright fuckboys, time to cook again. Now you’re probably thinking, “But i can just buy bread!”.

Correct.

You can also cook it, idiot.

And trust me, you’d be surprised how much people will love some basic-ass homemade bread. Not to mention it’s cheap as fucking dirt, absolutely delicious, and useful in so many meals. Remember that paprikash? Now use your own bread. A recipe later (hint, it’s the bacon) will be able to utilize this bread to make a sandwich. Toast it, sunny side up some eggs and boom there you go, delicious breakfast. And how fucking independent are you if you don’t need the store to make your own goddamn bread, you fucking survivor man. You don’t need no bitch-ass walmart to make a steamy loaf. Alright, enough chat, let’s get cooking.

Here’s what you’ll need.

¼ oz packet active dry yeast (BUY)

1 tbs salt

2 tbs oil (I use Canola but most shit works)

2 ¼ warm cup water

6 ½ cup flour (the all-purpose flour you have will work, but Bread Flour will make it less chewy)

3 tbs + ½ tsp sugar

In addition, you’ll need something to actually cook this in. (Get two of these bread pans)

Get a big-ass bowl. Excellent, now put the warm water in it, but make sure it’s not too hot. Too hot and you’ll kill the yeast (which is alive, by the way). Now dissolve the yeast and the ½ tsp of sugar into the bowl (make sure it’s ½ teaspoon and NOT tablespoon). Let it sit until bubbles form on the surface.

Awesome. Now, use a whisk to whisk together 3 cups of flour, the remaining sugar, and the salt in a separate bowl (you’re not combining it with the water yet). Get it smooth.

Stir oil into the yeast mixture. Now, pour the flour mixture into the yeast mixture and beat until smooth (use your heads or a large spoon, not the whisk). Stir in the remaining flour ½ cup at a time until the dough is soft and you’re satisfied with how it looks and feels. This is something you’ll have to learn over time as you cook.

Lay some flour out on a clean kitchen surface and knead the dough until it’s nice and smooth and has an elastic feel to it. If you don’t know how to knead bread, I’m not going to write it out so just watch this video (here). It’s a minute long and shows pretty well how to knead dough. Do this for 10 minutes.

Now placed it into a large, greased bowl. (to grease something, use a small paper towl dipped gently in crisco or oil to rub it down). Turn it over once to grease both sides of the bread. Now cover it in seran wrap (make sure it’s air tight), and let it sit for 1 ½ to 2 hours; if you did everything right, it should double in size.

Now take it out and push it down, compressing it a bit. Place it onto a floured surface, and break it into 2 pieces. Form into loafs and place each loaf into a greased bread pan (same greasing method as before). Cover with seran wrap, and let double in size again for 1 ½ to 2 hours.

Bake that shit at 375 degrees on the center rack until it’s a nice golden brown. If you don’t have a thermometer, or just don’t feel like poking holes in your bread, you want the crust to be a nice golden brown and for it to sound hollow when you tap it.

There you go. You cooked bread.

I'm proud of you.

Phew, she gets basic bitch grain free, not anything fancy. smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B078HD21WV/

Couple years ago a friend i trust on these things recommended switching to grain free, i dont remember when exactly but the dog food controversy at the time was beet pulp... But we were feeding regular iams, so we just switched to a grain free version of the same thing, which has been through a couple of rebrands but i think its been the same food the whole time...

We added a multivitamin a while ago too just to cover our bases cuz shes getting older, but who knows if thats even any good... I can barely keep up with human nutrition, and it seems like theres almost as much info to wade through for dogs as there is humans now.

While I appreciate the article, this one actually specifically says to avoid red meat, cold cuts, and to try to get most protein from plants (citing environmental and health concerns). It also says that most animal-sourced protein does contribute a lot of unhealthy fat to a diet.

"If you enjoy red meat, consider eating it in small amounts or only on special occasions. Processed meats, such as bacon, hot dogs, sausages, and cold cuts should be avoided."

Not trying to diss on your article, but it isn't a very good argument against vegan- or vegetarianism.

I can provide some peer-reviewed studies as to why a vegan diet is better, but analyzing environmental impacts of a carnivorous (especially red meat centered) diet is a good starting point. I'd try reading The China Study as well.

I started reading this books called surviving a borderline parent. It is really helpful. Check it out! Surviving a Borderline Parent:... https://www.amazon.com/dp/1572243287?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Even if she isn’t diagnosed she sounds exactly like someone with BPD.

I also started therapy but this book has been helpful to see that I’m not alone.

So I worked at a video game store for a few years and this couple came in with their young son once. He was a very sweet kid and he was looking through all the toys and wanted a stuffed giggly puff (Pokémon). His dad however said no, that he wasn’t going to buy his son a girls toy and that he needed to pick out a boys toy. They were trying to get him to want a blue pomsie toy like this instead. Literally only because it’s fucking blue no other reason. Both the mom and the dad were trying to convince him to put GP back and that this was a boys toy and he could have it instead. Poor kid looked so sad. They were talking right by the counter so I just leaned over and said “that’s even more of a girls toy...it’s just a wearable pet accessory...Pokémon are pretty universal that one just happens to be pink.” Well now they didn’t want either because all they heard in that sentence was “girls toy.” Kid left with nothing, poor lad.

Well good news and bad news. Bad news: they don’t remember and I can’t find it ANYWHERE online. Only thing closest to it is called Spring, but it’s a kickstarter. Good news: rubber door wedges should be just fine for your purposes I’d assume. They’re about $3-9 at Walmart, and I have provided a link below. You could try finding the door stopper that my parents bought by looking around in Walmart, it could be there. https://www.amazon.com/Plastic-Stoppers-Doorstop-Wedges-Nonslip/dp/B07CMT5L9B

Have you tried something like this that will allow you to keep the door locked, even if she manages to unscrew and disassemble the knob? Actually, I think this might prevent her from doing that since it pushes inward on the knob.

I said that I don’t have income until my job starts, that I can’t buy groceries without money from my mother, that I am following the conditions we set. Here’s a link to a book to teach you how to read.

I highly recommend [Deal with It!] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/0671041576/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_igbyDbSDNBXEH) It was the first book that I read as a 13yo that said it was okay to like boys, girls, or no one at all. Talked about sexual assault, what no means, what it meant if you thought you were trans, and talked about different kinds of breasts and labia. It was the first time I had heard about breast reductions, and ended up getting one a few years later. This book changed my life, and I cannot recommend it enough.

edit: [A very good article about the site that created the book, and how dope it is.] (https://jezebel.com/the-reasons-you-probably-loved-gurl-com-1621531914/amp)

Get a small safe or something like a Can / bottle Safe (basically a fake coke can or other item) and stash your stuff in there.

u/hello-mr-cat · 11 pointsr/insaneparents

I would read a couple books in your situation.

This one helped me put some perspective about my relationship with my mother. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/1442238321/ "Stop caretaking the borderline or narcissist and get on with life"

This other was a good read too as if the author was a fly on the wall of my childhood home https://agileleanlife.com/toxic-parents/

So what's toxic in chocolate is a chemical called theobromine. This chemical is also toxic to humans but we are somewhat more resistant to it than dogs are; also, we're bigger so it just takes more of the chemical to hurt us. Here are some numbers:

  • The dose of theobromine that would kill a 200 lb (90 kg) person is approximately 90 grams.

  • The dose for a 200 lb dog is approximately 20 grams.

  • The dose for a 50 lb dog is approximately 5 grams.

  • The dose for a 25 lb dog is approximately 2.5 grams

  • The dose for a 5 lb dog is approximately 0.5 gram.

A typical half-ounce "snack size" milk chocolate bar contains approximately 0.03 grams of theobromine—unless they gorge themselves, it's basically harmless for all but the smallest of dogs. The same amount of dark chocolate contains 0.1 and 0.5 grams—dangerous to the teeny weenies but still safe for medium-sized dogs if they just have one. White chocolate contains negligible theobromine, so it's safe.

I estimate the cookie in the OP contains approximately 2g of baker's chocolate, baker's chocolate has approximately 10 times the theobromine content of milk chocolate, so that cookie contains approximately 0.04 g of theobromine. I rate it doggo safe, especially for a big boy like that.

This comment kinda got away from me...
