58. Phanteks CPU Cooler with 5 x 8mm Dual Heat-pipes, 140mm Premium Fans and PWM Adaptor, Patented P.A.T.S Coating, PH-TC14PE_BK (Black)

    Features:
  • Patented P.A.T.S increases the cooling performance and reliability while deflecting other thermal radiation from other heat sources, likes the GPU, South Bridge, North Bridge, etc. PATS ables to withstand temp. up to 200 degrees Celcius.
  • Patented. C.P.S.C is a brand new technologic forming deposit that displaces heat onto corresponding metals at a quicker rate. This will enhances thermal conductivity on the soldered surfaces of the heat-pipes through the copper deposits.
  • Designed with C type Single tower radiators; the PH-TC14PE has fiveψ8mm heat-pipes linearly aligned to ensure optimal cooling. This cooler is made to have the least amount of air and thermal resistance.
  • Phanteks PH-F140 premium 140mm fans with PWM adaptor, uses Updraft Floating Balance bearing, 9 Maelstrom Vortex Booster blades, and Maelstrom Air-Fort Optimization drive system to achieve massive airflow and perfect dynamic balance.
  • The SoliSku universal mounting kit provides an easy-to-install rotational backplate for Intel LGA 2011/1155/1156/11366/775. AMD FM1/AM3+/AM3/AM2+/AM2 (stock backplate required)..The PH-NDC is a superb quality thermal compound for heatsinks. It is made of high-purity nano diamond like particles to improve the thermal conductance between components. The generated heat caused by the CPU will transfer to the heatsink, without reduction in efficiency and resistance.

>Nvidia cards generally run cooler as they tend to offer more performance per watt.

i agree with that but lets just think about it for a sec.

here it says RTX draws 215w right? and RTX 2080ti here it draws 250W okay?

now the verge benchmarks show that between RTX2080 and RTX2080TI there is a 15-30% increase of performance right?

but the price is almost 100% more expensive?

according to amazon the RTX 2080 is worth 700$ on strix copy while the RTX2080TI STRIX is worth 1300$
and on the RTX2080 FOUNDERS EDITION its worth 780$ while the RTX2080TI FOUNDERS EDITION is worth 1300$
not mentioning the previous gen because it gets more ridiculous.

now... is it worth it to pay 90% more for a 40% more performance? and its not very dumb? okay thats how you see it but i see this differently

Firstly it’s not essential.

Secondly that’s a pretty ghetto solution. If you want to do it properly get liquid electrical tape, I use clear but colour doesn’t matter.

Starbrite Liquid Tape Wire Coating CLEAR https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000BO93RG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_nu-JAbPMC4FEX

EDIT: LOL silent downvoters. At least say why man/woman. I never said nail polish wouldn’t work.

Wow that's a really old cooler! Didn't even know Intel made these.

If it's not sufficient one thing you might try is moving more air through it by swapping out the fan for something like this: Noctua 12/25, review at overclockers.com

If you do swap out the fan make sure to use the sealing strip that comes in the box to seal the gap between your radiator and the fan.

I assume they won't replace the CPU at all, will they?
Doesn't rockit have a guarantee that their delid tool won't break or damage supported CPUs?

Yeah my Rockit 89 is rock solid. No problems with delidding a 9900K. I even used it to mount my CPU for sanding protection when I sanded the die about 0.1mm. The Super 33+ tape didn't fail quite as well, but the rockit protected the back caps perfectly while the tape fully protected the green substrate from the sandpaper. I have no idea what plastics are used in the rockit vs any type of 3d printed clone, but I've never seen anyone break the rockit 88 or 89 delidders. Some guy said it failed to delid a 1151 CPU and stripped a screw but I'd really love to see the user error on that.

I have had an H100i, H80i, and an H105. Everyone of them got clogged within 5 years. Dissembling the heat sink and using about 40psi from my air compressor did the trick and then replacing the coolant with a coolant from amazon.

That said, 2 things. First MX4 absolutely sucks for 2 things. Laptops and delidded CPUs. MX4 is great for anything that doesn't exceed 90c. As soon as 90c is reached, it begins pumping out (drying up and losing thermal conductivity). I know this because I used it for the exact same thing on the exact same CPU. I'd get about 2 weeks of solid game changing temps and by 1-2 months, my temps were higher than with Intel's tim.

Second, you most likely did damage to something in there. If the pins look good on the mobo, it is damage to the internal structure of the CPU. When I was looking into delidding my 4790k, I ran into many places saying to not use a razor due to how close to the surface the tracing is. So, it is likely there is structure on the edge... I too used a vice. I just put 4 layers of towel on the grip side that touched the silicon of the CPU and it did well.

Lastly, you could give it a try to glue and clamp everything back together... I think Linus attempted something similar. It didn't work for him but, you may have better luck. You do already have the vice. lol

I also currently use an i7 920. I have an Asus P6T Deluxe (LGA1366). The x58 is an enthusiast class platform with 40 PCIe lanes. So I put in a PCIe USB 3.0 card with 4 ports for $18. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B011LZY20G/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Also I got a SATA 3.0 PCIe controller card (will give you AHCI) for $68 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007EM7N70/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I then added 2 Samsung 850 Pro drives onto the new controller as well as a Samsung 950 M.2 SSD through a PCIe card https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B018U79YQK/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Also added 24GB of RAM over the years.

I run an EVGA 1080FTW and game at 2460x1440. I get the following avg framerates. Witcher 3 = 57fps Trine 2 = 76fps, Starcraft 2 = 50fps, Tomb Raider 2013 = 81fps.

Personally I am wanting to replace it with an equal or better system which Skylake is NOT because it only has 16PCIe lanes to the CPU. I'm eagerly waiting for Skylake-E at around middle of 2017, that's the next big enthusiast level upgrade.
Any questions just ask.

I figured it was pretty clear that intel is ahead in IPC when I said that
Intel is better at gaming.

>As a non gamer, who wants a ridiculously snappy Windows machine at a reasonable price, Ryzen ain't it - the 1600 is the closest I'd consider and unfortunately, there's sweet fuck all options for high quality, silent, modern featured, video cards - under $80 US

A GT 1030 should be good enough since you aren't going to really be using the GPU for much of anything so the fans won't really run ever. And if the GPU fans run then the CPU fans are going to run since the CPU tends to run hotter than GPU. Also, the GT 1030 looks to be about twice as good as the HD 630

2666 is official certified but XMP profile goes much higher. I agree with others saying that 3000 / 3200 ram is best value. I just bought this RAM recently for my upcoming 8700K build. It's not a great time to buy RAM with the prices where they're at but what can you do..

You can often get them on Amazon for $420. Just keep refreshing the page every few hours. When they come back for $420, they don't last long, but they return again soon.

Combine that with a Chase Freedom Visa card if you have one for 10% cash back. Even after taxes, it got me a chip for about $400. Not MRSP, but far better than other vendors (since I am nowhere near a Microcenter). I even got it delivered in under a week (and this was earlier this month, so it's still relevant).

I would wait a bit longer and save up for the i7. More and more games are going to utilise the multi-cores, hopefully, and they'll definitely come in handy when streaming as well (OBS). Also, a good air cooler is very affordable, like the popular Hyper 212 EVO, to something that performs very well even under load, the Silverstone A R07, but can range to higher prices, like the Phanteks or Noctua. My advice would be to wait a while, then grab the i7 6700k along with the Silverstone AR07 (Best performance per dollar under $50, losing out only to the $50-60 Mugen Scythe 4) T

It'll perhaps work at 3.6 GHz, but you may not get much use of turbo boost to 4.7GHz because of the sheer inadequacy. You shouldn't have picked that cooler. Make sure the motherboard isn't applying extra voltage. Get something bigger if it'll fit in your case.

Prices are FINALLY starting to move. Check this out: 1TB 1600/1300Mbps M.2 for $340.

https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B077GY5WWC

Not an affiliate link or anything, I just think it's a great deal. These are pretty new and lacking in reviews, but their other hardware is very well reviewed. I'm probably gonna pull the trigger when my birthday rolls around and upgrade from my 500GB Crucial drive. I should get like 2-3x the performance.

>girls with laptops for school

Do boys not use laptops for school?

A know a few people that have been picking up those cheap AMD Ryzen/Vega laptops with the RX560. I wonder how those report with a Vega iGPU and a dedicated discrete GPU. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07M9SMWMS/
