I also bought a stylus with my iPad for note taking in class, and I use that with GoodNotes, which I love. You can write on pdf and stuff. I think Notability is more popular, and Notability has the feature of recording and syncing your handwritten notes together, which is really neat.

>writing assignments

like typing essays? I use google docs. A little bit buggy for some reason...? but there is also iWork, which comes with all new purchases. I would also recommend a keyboard case for this too!

http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Protective-Integrated-Keyboard-Black/dp/B00PK260AW

i just got this literally two days ago, and I love it! and its 60% off right now!!!! I really like it because not only is it easier to type on a keyboard, you get so much screen space back without the software keyboard.

>viewing PowerPoints

There is google sheets, keynote, microsoft ppt, I think note taking apps like woodnotes and notability also supports ppt too. I personally like writing on ppt during lecture. Its just easier that you don't have to copy everything down, and I think its helpful while studying for tests because you will not forget to study things that you might not have written down with pen and paper.

>What else is helpful to do on the tablet?

Honestly, the iPad can do soon many things that you do not even know you would want to do. Like I am a CS major, and I can connect to servers and write code on my iPad. There is like almost a million apps in the app store just for iPads, so you can probably find whatever that you need!

I have the Belkin BOOST UP.

I like it. Works well as my bedside charger. It's a wireless fast charger that definitely works. The LED light is small and not-too bright, but you can easily position your phone to cover it, nonetheless, without worrying that your phone's not getting charged.

There's a circular traction ring that keeps the phone stable even when you're getting phone calls or other notifications.

I also have this Samsung Wireless Fast Charge Stand.

I used it at work because it's sleek and functions well since I have an iPhone X. I always charge overnight, so I haven't needed to use it too often, but it works well nonetheless.

It's not certified to fast charge Apple's iPhone devices, so you'll notice that it's definitely slower than wired charging, and it's also slower than the Belkin.

Holds onto the phone well.

Samsung makes a Convertible version.

Pretty much same information applies as what I wrote above. Samsung currently doesn't have any wireless fast chargers that are certified to fast charge Apple's devices.

I recently bought the RAVPower HyperAir Wireless Fast Charge Stand.

It's a fast charging stand that I've replaced my Samsung stand with at my desk.

Nice, sleek design. I haven't been able to run tests against the Belkin yet, but they're fairly comparable. It's definitely faster than the Samsung stand, though.

I'm thinking about buying the Apple-certified Mophie Wireless Fast Charge Pad for my living room.

I've heard good things about it.

Anker recently released an Apple-certified fast charge pad and fast charge stand.

I've only read impressions from a MacRumors contributor, but he or she was fairly impressed.

There are plenty of chargers that are cheaper, but I'm interested in quality and wireless fast charging.

And I'm only going to trust the Apple-certified brands for wireless fast charging.

Your best bet would be to start by listing the apps you use frequently/like the most on your Android phone. Some of the bigger-name apps probably have equivalent versions on the iOS App Store. For the rest, you could probably ask around and in /r/IPhoneApps about what apps work best on iOS to replace the ones on Android.

The Move to iOS app is definitely the best way to migrate your data over. It should pretty effectively move everything over.

Definitely get a Qi charging pad if you don't have one already. If you already have Android charging pads, they'll work for regular (slow) charging on your iPhone. For fast charging, these are a decent price.

And as far as nuances with the iPhone XS/Max, this video from Apple does a pretty good job of laying out the basics, particularly what's changed from non-FaceID iPhones, though it does have the typical Apple cheese to it.

This isn’t a solution necessarily, but it may fix your speakerphone problem. I used to use AUX in my car before I found this little Bluetooth-AUX receiver. Plugs into both a cig lighter and your AUX, then every time you turn your car on your phone automatically connects to Bluetooth. Pretty handy, and works like a charm.

I’d recommend also picking this up if you’re interested - it silences the weird static noise the BT receiver produces through the car speakers.

Yes /u/legendofchin97 and /u/Heiminator you can create your own local wireless network and use it for filesharing.

A device like this could work, and as a bonus it has a small built in battery:

http://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-TL-MR3040-Wireless-Portable-Compatible/dp/B0088PPFP4

It it does add extra cost and component, but probably would be the easiest way. Tons of other uses for this as well.

Edit: Just saw that you didn't want to carry a portable access point with you, so sorry about that; however, I will say this is quite small, fits easily in your palm and the battery can last for a few hours on average.

I'm currently working through the Big Nerd Ranch books which are fantastic. They have such a good way of teaching - you are constantly writing code and there are a lot of challenges for you to complete at the end of chapters. I picked them up after recommendations from many other redditors.

They have two books:

  • Objective-C Programming - for those with no previous Objective-C experience.
  • iOS Programming - for those who have worked through the above book &or those who already have a good understanding of Obj-C.

I started with the first and would definitely recommend both.

The closest you could get (to my knowledge) is using LonelyScreen (or something similar) to stream your phone screen to your computer (alternatively use a lightning to hdmi like the one seen here but I'm sure you can find something cheaper) and then use a Bluetooth mouse like the one found here (again you can find something cheaper) to control the device.

This Bluetooth - FM transmitter has worked great for me (connects to phone via Bluetooth, sends to radio via FM transmitter): GOgroove-FlexSMART-Transmitter.

I'm not an audiophile and I have old speakers, but it sounds great to me. You can choose any FM station (not limited to pre-sets), and it also has a USB port so you can charge your phone.

I like these: Otium Wireless Headphones, Bluetooth Headphones, Best Sports Earbuds, IPX7 Waterproof Stereo Earphones for Gym Running 9 Hours Playtime Noise Cancelling Headsets https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0734S1YBS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_iKk8Cb8WCJ6RZ

I have the HP 8620, and it has never given me any problems. works with AirPrint on iOS and has drivers available to make work with Android as well. it's the best solution I've found yet.

Those are all good. If you want quality cables, buy Anker ones like this one:
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Powerline-Lightning-Certified-Compatibility/dp/B072JXXVP3/
they have a couple of colours and a bunch of lengths too.

For data connection, you'll need the apple cable that came in the box.

The Big Nerd Ranch book on Objective-C doesn't assume you have any programming experience and I've found it helpful for someone that's not very familiar with compiled languages. Also, it was published very recently, so it stands a chance at being most up to date.
