My one bit of advise, skip the keyboard case and get a nice small bluetooth keyboard, and one or more cases of your choice. I've had several generations of iPads and a few Keyboard cases in my time. They are more expensive and have consistently broken on me. Of all the separate keyboards I've had, not one has broken, I've taken them with me between devices, and they've lasted years. You can buy far more or less protective cases, as you wish.

Just some recommendations:

The Microsoft is my favorite, but no longer available. the iClever foldable is my newest and I'm getting to like it quite a bit.

The only argument I can make for the 4G iPad is that it also includes GPS capabilities. If you want to use it for navigation, photography with geotagging, or any other location-dependent activity, you might want to consider it. It also grabs a slightly higher resale value.

The Pro gets you the Pencil, faster speeds, more memory, slightly better screen, larger sizes. If you don't need any of these, then no reason to get the Pro. The iPad can do anything a Pro model can do, except for hardware differences (Pencil compatibility and True Tone screen).

The iPad (any model) can handle note taking and basic office productivity very well. Apple's iWork apps are the "smoothest" and fit the iPad the best. But Microsoft Office is not far behind. Google's apps are shoe-horned to work with the iPad and the least "iPad like" IMHO. But since all are basically free to download and try I'd say give them all a chance.

I would recommend getting the 128G. You can't upgrade later and some day you may wish you had the space, especially for movies and the like. Transferring to and from the cloud can be a chore.

If an external keyboard is ok, check out the Logitech K811. Backlight, battery life for months, 3-device pairing, great keys etc. Better than most of the keyboard cases and external keyboards. Expensive but easily worth it. I use mine with my iPad and PS4 mostly.

It feels a lot better than the small external Logitech Keys-to-Go, Logitech Type+ Air 2 case and the Apple Smart Keyboard in my opinion (have tested those quickly) and is not limited to just one iPad. Nothing to bad say about it since September 2015.

For cases, a lot of people think that the Apple Smart Case is the best one. I own it and it's all-around great. Hella expensive though.

For styluses, I only have done limited research of them and don't own one (except a small cheap capacitive stylus) so can't help much.

Not to sound like a prick, but I’ve typically shied away from the cheap-o $10 cases (I get that the Apple silicone case is overpriced, but it fits super snug and works really well). That said, I rolled the dice on this guy ($15 shipped at this time) and it’s solid.

It’s a bit softer than the Apple case, but still fits snugly and feels like it offers similar protection (I don’t need anything major; I just wanna be able to set it down without scuffing it all up). Holding the Pencil is a nice little bonus.

Fits well with the keyboard (apparently that was an issue with early versions of this guy, but it’s been fixed). Only tiny gripe might be that it’s a bit soft, especially around the thin parts like the speakers, but all in all, it’s great. Absolutely recommend as a replacement for the silicone case and you can keep your Pencil stashed now.

I have the Anker tempered glass screen protector from Amazon on my 10.5 pro. Works great, went on easy with no bubbles or marks. I also have the Apple Smart Keyboard and a compatible iBlason case from Amazon on it. The case is thin and has a clear back so it looks minimal. Finally, I carry it around in the Apple iPad Pro leather sleeve. It looks and feels great. It’s expensive but I found one brand new on eBay for half the price of retail stores. Links to everything below.

The original one does not, but the new magic keyboard does charge with lightning.
Its smaller and more solid which are great, but is twice the price.
Another one worth looking into is this one by Anker. It’s advertised to work with iPads and I’ve heard great things about it, though I haven’t had the opportunity to try it out myself.

u/DylanTheDonut · 1 pointr/ipad

Use the Apple Smart Keyboard with this case: KHOMO iPad Pro 10.5 Inch Charcoal Gray Color Case - Companion Cover - Perfect match for Apple Smart keyboard and Cover. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07215MYS4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_dzUJBb91CRM5E

Greatest combo there is. The case matches the keyboard in color perfectly and just like the Apple Pencil compared to other styluses - there is no better keyboard for the iPad than the Smart Keyboard. It’s so well integrated and the keyboard is great (that said I wish it had a little less key travel and was a little louder but that’s just me). And that case is cheap and works perfectly.

u/AnneNonim · 2 pointsr/ipad

I recently bought an iPad but I need help choosing an inexpensive case cover. Which material is the best in terms of protection (falls, wear and tear)?

Option 1 : Hard plastic back

Option 2 : Soft TPU back

Option 3 : Soft TPU Bumper Edges with Hard plastic back

Actually, I'd rather not go with hard plastic as it may crack easily?

So, Option 2 or 3?

Pwease help, thank you!

u/TuhnderBear · 2 pointsr/ipad

I have this logitech keyboard that I like very much. It's only 30 dollars, and actually feels really nice (to me, very similar to the apple keyboards). I paired it with a belkin case, and I'm super happy. I didn't want to always have the keyboard attached to the ipad, and I'm fine with carrying two separate parts when I need to type. I also got one of those styluses with the clear plastic tips, and I've found that it's a great way to take notes and edit PDF's.

Edit: I should also note that the keyboard can connect to up to 3 separate devices at a time.

u/Mayormitch100 · 4 pointsr/ipad

I really like covers and cases from JETech. I have an iPad Pro 10.5 in cover that I bought from them and they started emailing me codes for free Apple Watch bands, and again later a code for a free iPhone X case.

Here is a link for the latest iPad 2017 model. It is only $6.99. I can vouch for their cases they are outstanding!

(I promise I am not a shill for them, just a really happy customer! [which seems silly that I feel the need to say this])

u/Hotblack_Desiato_ · 1 pointr/ipad

This is what I got and it's fantastic. I don't do a lot of typing, so portability and ability to tolerate just sitting unused in my bag most of the time were the prime criteria, and this thing does a magnificent job of that. It also is much easier for me to type on with my Sasquatch hands than any other compact keyboard.

On top of that, the Engrish in the blurb for it is hugely entertaining, so there's residual value there. :P

These are from Amazon.com, but I’d think you should be able to find them:

u/DrCut · 1 pointr/ipad

The iPad cover is very nice. It's actually better than the one for the 9.7 (at least for me) since the magnets seem stronger. For the back, I got this case which is surprisingly good quality (iPad Pro 10.5 Inch Charcoal Gray Color Case - Companion Cover - Perfect match for Apple Smart keyboard and Cover. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07215MYS4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_hDpHzbZNMC8NQ). It has a very close color match to the silicone cover, and a similar feel ( although it's not silicone, the rubberized plastic feels very nice.)

I work in IT, specifically for a hospital systems Radiology group. My work had provided me a laptop, but I no longer use it, and use my ipad in it's place. Now, I do have a desktop both at home and at work I use that I can't replace, but I've been able to completely replace the laptop/mobile portion of my work, as well as enhance my workflow with it.

First, I have cisco anyconnect VPN, for securely connecting to my work's network.

My second most important app is [FileBrowser].(https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/filebrowser-document-manager/id364738545?mt=8) I use this to easily access my various cloud storages in one app that lets me share files out to any other apps I need. Also, it let's me map network drives that I use at work (while connected to the VPN)

Another one is Textastic. I use this when messing with powershell/javascript/whatever other programming languages I've needed, it always seems to support it.

I use Termius when I need to SSH into something, at home or at work.

Some other one's I use at work are Notion, the entire microsoft office suite is great having a microsoft 365 subscription. I use microsoft's RDP app to remote in to my work computer if I'm out and about and get a ticket or something I need to work. I have a few work specific apps such as Cisco Jabber and Cherwell mobile (thats the system we use for ticketing) I use Notability from time to time for taking notes, but I have awful handwriting so more often than not I use this foldable keyboard when I need to type.

All of that doesn't even cover how integrated my ipad is with my personal life/hobbies/work flow.

Last, I 100% agree with /u/saa001 , if they'd let me use a mouse, it'd be 100% more functional than it is now, and I can already do so much with it!

EDIT: Forgot to answer why I choose to use my ipad over my laptop. Portability, battery life, and the apple pencil are my main 3 reasons.

Closest thing to what you describe: https://www.amazon.com/Elecbae-Keyboard-Case-iPad-2018/dp/B07QL4XJBB

Another kickstand with keyboard, but not really a hinge kickstand: https://www.amazon.com/Inateck-Keyboard-Detachable-Compatible-KB02005/dp/B07MZT4N4H

Not kickstand, but the one that I went with: https://www.amazon.com/Muse-Case-Protective-Convenient-Magnetic/dp/B07H7VK7K8

I believe all 3 have been talked about throughout this thread, so if you search by their names, you can see how others feel about them (mostly positive for each one). I've been looking for one as well, though without the keyboard. Unfortunately, i don't think we have yet to have a stand that comes close to the fluidity of a Surface Pro hinge stand. I'm waiting to see if anything newer pops up in the fall (ideally hoping to see one with a trackpad). In the meantime, I picked up a Zugu case that has functioned pretty well.

u/bckrupps40 · 1 pointr/ipad

The Zugu case is outstanding. Probably the best case i ever used on a tablet. I suggest buying like new off Amazon to save $10. Mine looked like it's never been used.

The apple keyboard folio is awesome but expensive. If you don’t need/want it to be part of the case then this one is a great deal: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0148NPH9I/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It’s Bluetooth, can connect to 3 devices, and has a 1yr battery life (8hrs/day usage they claim).

Edit: this is the same one recommend by u/EveryLivingLine above :)

Im using [this] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MWXLPNL/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_bWSjDbBR6CDKZ) , its not super slim but functions great and has the same surface style hinge. It doesn’t stow the hinge perfectly though FYI.

I just picked up a pro 10.5 myself over the weekend. I wanted the same thing, more protection for the back to compliment the Smart Keyboard and something to store the pencil.

I ended up with these two and so far they’ve been great!

I have already seen the JETech one and ESR from amazon, and they aren't exactly what I'm looking for, but they are pretty similar. It would be great if anyone has any other case ideas.

In case ur curious, here's the JETech and ESR ones

I also got the New iPad 2017. Still not many options for keyboard cases last I checked. What I ended up doing was getting this case and this keyboard. Neither were very expensive so if I find a better solution in the future I won't feel too bad replacing them rather quickly.

The case has the smart cover feature where it will unlock or lock your screen when opening and closing. The plastic shell keeps it from getting scuffed and the front cover folds to make a stand.

I have also found it to be convenient not having the keyboard attached to the case actually. There have been times where I didn't want the keyboard directly in from of the iPad and having that flexibility over a "laptop configuration" is surprisingly nice. I don't take my iPad out of my house very often so far so the two piece thing hasn't been an issue for portability for me yet. Also, the bluetooth keyboard can be paired with iOS, Android, Windows, or Mac so if I do replace it for the iPad, I have other devices I could use it with.

u/Edge767 · 2 pointsr/ipad

I'll be going with THIS one. I use the smart keyboard and this will help protect the back and look like it belongs.

Currently, I use a beige smart cover on the back. It works surprisingly well on the back of my iPad with the smart keyboard on the front. I put it on the back only while it's in my bag.

u/nudoru · 5 pointsr/ipad

I just got on of these in the mail today and like it. Choose the cocoa color so it's warmer than the grey. But it works perfectly with the Smart Cover and keyboards. Has a good grippy/soft touch feel and looks nice. https://www.amazon.com/iPad-10-5-Inch-Charcoal-Color/dp/B07215MYS4/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1498768503&sr=8-3&keywords=khomo+ipad+pro+10.5

I just got the $15 slim wireless one (batteries instead of rechargeable batteries) and I love it. The $20 one can be charged with USB. Honestly, it looks like Apple's Magic Keyboard and it feels pretty good for its price.

Hi, I bought this one and it’s excellent, great fit and quality. Also bought this screen protector. Also excellent.

u/repapap · 1 pointr/ipad

I've used an iPad+Magic Keyboard basically since this spring and I've loved it. I really tend to hate cheapo plastic bluetooth keyboards and the Smart Keyboard is sort of bleh. The keyboard cover is nice and props up the iPad at a pretty similar angle to the SmartCover.

The back cover is this one which acts as a very good replacement for the lack of an Apple branded Silicone Case. That JETech one from Amazon that someone else listed is also very good.

I really like how thin this case is, it’s a basic 2 angle and cheap iPad smart case but the quality is great (and even better than I expected)

u/robeschi · 10 pointsr/ipad

I mostly use the Apple Pencil with Notability or LiquidText. I use Goodnotes a little. Some of my professors use Google Drive, so I need to use those apps from time to time. I also like Outlook for email, iBooks and Kindle Reader for different texts. Duet Display turns my iPad into a secondary screen for my MacBook Pro. I use Scanner Pro to turn all my syllabi and other handouts into PDFs. iStudiez Pro helps keep my schedule in order, and Quizlet helps me study. I use Affinity Photo for processing my Nikon RAW files ( I let my Adobe CC subscription lapse, I just don't find myself using my dSLR that much lately.) I also use a MIDI keyboard with Garage Band and Pro Metronome for piano practice when I don't have access to a real piano/piano lab/practice room.

I keep games and other entertainment apps off the iPad since I'm trying to study and don't want to make it any easier for me to goof off.

Case, Screen Protector, Apple Pencil sleeve, tether to keep my adapter on my cable, stand, keyboard, and holder for using my iPad as a second screen for my MacBook Pro. I also use Anker cables, charger port, and portable charger.

u/sparksdls · 2 pointsr/ipad

1.62 lbs sounds high, even with the case. It's not light by any means but it doesn't seem a pound and a half. As for folding keyboards, I tend to agree. The one I'm using isn't bad but if I were going to be doing a lot of typing then I would go with either of my Logitechs or the Anker. Because I use the K360 all the time with my laptop, I'd probably go with it. I'm really used to it and it works so well with the iPad. I use a Zugu case on the iPad and the front cover folds behind it when standing open so the keyboard can sit closer to the iPad screen -

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075MXXM6P

I looked at the iClever but didn't like the looks of the little pivot points sticking up - they seem like they could be in the way. Keyboards are one of those things where personal preferences play a huge role - what one person likes can easily be hated by another.

u/vkoser · 3 pointsr/ipad

This case is very popular. I have it on my 12.9" pro. It's a little on the heavy side, but the functionality is really great with many angles to view and good protection.

Semi related, but i bought this [Zugu Case] (https://www.amazon.com/ZUGU-CASE-Protective-Convenient-Magnetic/dp/B075MXXM6P/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1524152208&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=zugu+case&psc=1) a few months ago, and its excellent. Only case I have used (and i bought and returned a ton of them to test what i liked) that uses magnets to hold it in a firm position, in multiple display modes. Bit expensive, but its the best one ive used.

u/CantGoogleMe · 1 pointr/ipad

I got the version with a holder for the pencil and it's great. Good texture, fits well, and holding up great. My only complaint would be that the covered
powe and volume buttons are a little clunky to hit, not bad at all though.

I am currently attending uni and from my experience this past year with the 10.5. I highly recommend it. Simply because you might not always have the luxury in terms of desk space of having a 12.5 with you and also because of weight. My mom bought the 12.5 and regretted it within a few days because of the weight and sheer size.

If you are saving money or you would rather use that money for something else, I recommend using your petrol points to purchase it and spend a little to get the accessories you would want to have. In contrast if you want to be future proof, don’t mind waiting a bit, and don’t mind spending a fair penny; purchase the new one. Roughly with the items listed below and getting an 10.5 with 256GB and with AppleCare set me back roughly $1250 USD so you have a rough idea of how much you might be spending.

Accessories that I bought that I also highly recommend and use on a daily basis are listed:

u/rThereAnyNamesOpen · 5 pointsr/ipad

I bought this one. The charcoal gray color matches the keyboard absolutely perfectly. Nice and slim, keeps weight down, and looks great. Also very inexpensive.

It is perfect, I’m sure the experience with the Apple keyboard will be as good...IF you already own one. I wouldn’t spend a huge amount of money on a keyboard if you don’t plan on using it constantly.

u/seslor · 0 pointsr/ipad

This is all you need. Get a smart case with it from Apple. Amazing case that I genuinely think about how happy I am with it on a daily basis.

Edit to add: You don't need the smart cover with the keyboard. The regular cover works perfect and adds virtually no size at all.

I’ve had this one - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FFVVDJ8/ - for about a week now and really like it. It’s a bit smaller than a standard keyboard, but that’s a tradeoff for portability. I love that it’s backlit, and that it’s not part of a case. Use it when I need it, leave it in my bag when I don’t. The price it more than acceptable, and it allows me to use whatever case I choose on my iPad.

u/greatcaffeine · 1 pointr/ipad

I bought this to throw in my backpack: https://www.amazon.com/iClever-Wireless-Rechargeable-Bluetooth-Smartphones/dp/B01JA6HG88/ref=sr_1_6

It’s a fairly nice little keyboard. Nothing too fancy, but I can type at a pretty normal speed on it. The biggest perk is that it’s insanely light, so I never really notice that it’s in my bag. Battery is great, too; I haven’t charged it in months.

u/Ninja2Night · 1 pointr/ipad

I bought a pro about two weeks ago and love it. Main for the larger screen that's easier to read. People are on both size of the Fence as you see... Personally I like iOS although they need to work on the cut and paste more for devices without 3D Touch. Also I tend to use google sheets a lot and that app drives me batty. I too bought my iPad pro 128 on eBay for $800 new so look there. As for the pen - love it, keyboard cover liked it a lot but couldn't live with the cost... $170 for keyboard cover then another $80 I think for the cover for the back... No thanks. I bought the foldable full keyboard with backlights for little over $50 on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018K5EJCQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_qt27wbKGRN5F0

u/ripitandstickit · 7 pointsr/ipad

here is what I have been using. It's not a sleeve but it goes great with the smart cover or keyboard

u/box080809 · 3 pointsr/ipad

Amazon sells an Anker Bluetooth keyboard that is excellent. https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Wireless-Bluetooth-Rechargeable-Compatible/dp/B00PIMKN1Q/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1504235194&sr=8-5&keywords=anker+bluetooth+keyboard

It has a rechargeable lithium ion battery. I've had mine for four months and have only charged it once since delivery. There are probably better keyboards in the $150 plus price range but from what I could find after researching sub $50 keyboards this offered the best overall experience.

u/saulthesailor · 1 pointr/ipad

I bought this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073S2V1PL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_sgojDbTW3DQKH to go with my Smart Keyboard and it’s working out really well. The construction seems to be holding well but dust can get behind the clear back so taking out the iPad maybe once every two weeks helps prevent any permanent blemishes on the aluminum.

u/lbcadden3 · 1 pointr/ipad

I just looked for something on Amazon with lots of reviews that averaged high. I got a case last year for my Pro, I didn’t like the two piece design of the Apple stuff but wanted something to cover the back when I went outside and laid it on the picnic table and such. Something similar to this

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06X6LSBZ6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_PvWbAbE3TN9QH

Once you find something you like the looks of you can probably find it on eBay for half price and free shipping. They will be listed under various brands, I got mine off eBay for under $10 about a year and a half ago, use it everyday.

u/PokeyRacer · 1 pointr/ipad

Just installed one of these yesterday and I'm loving it so far. Cuts down on glare and fingerprints and makes drawing and writing with the pen feel more like pen and paper. Take your time installing (I used the tape-hinge method). There's even dust removal tape in the package which worked awesome as I was slowly lowering the film down.

Had the Fintie iPad Pro 10.5 Case with Built-in Apple Pencil Holder and was great and cheap only $15 and held the pencil.

But then wanted able to stand portrait for magazines, comics and typing.

So just got Fintie iPad Pro 10.5 Case with Built-in Apple Pencil Holder - 360 Degree and again a bit more bulky but also cheap $16 and holds the pencil.

And picked up the Full Size Bluetooth Keyboard Foldable Portable, Joyzy for $26 compact light when I need it.

How they turned out on my iPad Pro

Would look at the "Fintie" cases as they have for iPad Air also and happy with their covers.

Tho don't know if they have exact as mine on the 10.5 iPad Pro.

I wanted a hard back case compatible with the Smart Keyboard. Seemed like everything was cut wrong on the camera, buttons, smart connector or other area.

After reading reviews (early ones say the cut is wrong, recent ones say it’s been fixed and is correct), I ordered the MoKo Translucent Slim Hard Plastic Bumper Protector / Back Cover: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0719P6XNB/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_VpwvzbV9R9PK8

It arrives today. I’ll jump back in and update this after trying it.

UPDATE: Perfect fit. Looks good, adds very minimal bulk, accommodates the Smart Keyboard just fine.

There are a lot of great choices out there. Logitech's K811 is also a great choice with backlit keys and allows three device profiles. The more you look, the more you'll realize that you're paying a premium price to have matching colors, slim profile, backlit keys and aluminum finish.

u/senornachoman · 2 pointsr/ipad

This one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PIMKN1Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_yysBybMD23NAR

Works amazing, cheap, and looks nice. The layout is identical to that of a MacBook, and has additional keys for home button, lock button, brightness and volume.

u/Lucifeces · 2 pointsr/ipad

Hope it's not too late to be helpful, but the iClever tri-folding keyboard is awesome.

There's a small one and a large one. I have the larger. It's a full size keyboard with backlight functionality. Battery lasts stupid long and it feels incredible to type on.

Has all key commands available and is my favorite because it can be moved anywhere and doesn't have to but up right against the screen.

Find it Here!

I very much like the JeTech texture, fit, and feel.

And they’re insanely well priced.

An annoyance with the K380 is that Fn and control are swapped from the normal Apple layout. Otherwise I really like mine. There is a K811 that has the Apple layout but I think it's discontinued and crazy pricey second-hand.

Anker has a cheap rechargeable keyboard that's a bit like a cross between the two Apple Magic Keyboards. It has the form factor of the newer one but taller keys with more motion like the original Magic Keyboard. But real Magic Keyboard 2's sometimes go for about $50 refurbished on Amazon.

My FIRST and formost though is when i get my 12.9 3th gen. I want to keep it safe so i have been looking at full covers and the ZUGU CASE The Muse Case, is atm the one i am looking most at, though hard to get in Denmark.
I need a case that can protect it from bending and other things while with my every day in a backpack with books and a laptop.

After that I have been looking at those keyboards, considering the second one, as it has function keys and backlight, so it can be used for other computers easy.

u/MHC304 · 3 pointsr/ipad

Check out the Zugu case. I have it and love it and I think it’s exactly what you’re looking for. It’s on amazon too. A little pricy at $60 but it is definitely worth it imo.

I use the Zugu Muse case for the 12.9" pro, but it comes in a 11" model too https://www.amazon.com/Muse-Case-Protective-Convenient-Magnetic/dp/B07H7VK7K8

It has many viewing angles, and supports the Apple pencil. It provides very good protection and feels very sturdy. I have no fears of bending my iPad when protected by this.

Only thing is I feel like the screen more quickly gets dusty because the felt touches your lap/table/whatever surface you place your iPad on when using its viewing angles.

u/jariete · 1 pointr/ipad

I bought the [Tech Armor] (https://www.amazon.com/Protector-Tech-Armor-Anti-Glare-Anti-Fingerprint/dp/B016B12TSW) brand. It's anti-glare and protects from the potential scratches by the pencil, but most of all the matte finish feels excellent with the Pencil. It's not quite a paper texture, but it's a lot smoother and less awkward than drawing straight on the glass.

u/jonter19 · 2 pointsr/ipad

I plan on purchasing an iPad on black Friday as well. Here is the case I ordered. I've used them in the past and they are great.

I bought this Khomo Charcoal Gray case from Amazon. It's only $12.95 shipped with prime.

It matches the Smart Keyboard cover almost exactly. And I mainly wanted a back cover to help protect the camera lens that sticks out. I already scratched my desk at work when I dragged it as I picked it up. And when I take the keyboard cover off when using it at home, it still provides protection and some grippyness when holding it.

u/mobyhead1 · 5 pointsr/ipad

I purchased an inexpensive back cover just to have one until a better one comes along. Bad news: the hole for the camera bump is too small. Good news: the vendor notified me of this before my iPad arrived, and they're sending a corrected version free of charge. So I just modified the incorrect cover with a Dremel tool while I'm waiting for the corrected version.

Edit, 11 days later: the corrected replacement back case arrived and fits properly. If you're looking for an inexpensive back case for the 10.5" iPad Pro, I recommend this one.

Rather than having a case that includes a holder (still a bit hard to find for the new 2018 non-pro iPad), I went with separate case + holder and got two very cheap things.

This case which is actually pretty thin and nice (magnets work, good texture at the back) :

I purchased an Arteck Universal keyboard for $19 off Amazon, it's backlit (colors can be changed), has many shortcuts for you, rechargeable and is really a joy to use. I use to think this too until I found the Tech Armor Anti-glare/anti-fingerprint film screen protector. It has the least amount of rainbow/moire pattern and it only took a short while til it’s not noticeable. It adds friction but still not quite like a pencil and paper but more like a quality ball point pen. I’ve been using this for 3 years and latency is not noticeable by me. Hopefully, u/Amysticalalliance sees this as well.

It also has a long battery life and doesn't take long to recharge, I go days before charging. The keyboard is only $20, the plus side of ordering from Amazon is that if you don't like it you can always return it and get your money back. I would recommend you give this keyboard a try.

I have the same fears and doubts. Most cases seem to be extremely fragile on their own, let alone with an apple pencil attached/wirelessly charging. I'm currently looking at the SUPCASE UB Pro Series and the Muse Case.

The muse seems great to work with, but seems to lack protection.
The SUPCASE seems to have great protection, but kinda unbalanced when standing.
