Look for some in-ear monitors. They’ll give you a truer mix than any earbuds.

These are a classic choice. I use a pair of these and have been happy with them

I use this laptop desk clamp that I modified with some spacer pegs to keep my big-ass pro steady. Clears up a lot of my desk space. The drawback to using it on a keyboard stand would be the clamping style. You need a horizontal surface to grab, which can be limited depending on the stand type.

If you’ve got tubular stands, something like this would work better, granted the tune diameter is small enough. (Up to 1 3/4”for this particular one)

There’s way more options for the smaller screen iPads with spring clips and different types of clamps.

Also I was able to find a bunch of different styles just googling “keyboard stand music holder”

Here's the powered USB hub I've used for about 5 months now with no problems.

Well, by "no problems", I mean I don't count the constantly plugging, unplugging, and replugging in different forms til the IPad picks it up, but I don't blame the hub for that.

Edit: Whoops, somehow i missed the "rechargeable" part. That would be pretty useful.

This Anker speaker is a pretty impressive rechargeable wireless Bluetooth speaker for $33

http://www.amazon.com/Anker-SoundCore-Dual-Driver-Incredible-Microphone/dp/B016XTADG2/ref=sr_1_50?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1458007808&sr=1-50&keywords=bluetooth+speaker

Not super bass heavy, so it wouldn't be an awful choice for production. There are $80-100 powered studio monitors that will give you a flatter sound more ideal for mixing, but you will have to deal with wires and connections etc.

This is trying to be part of a busking set up so I need it to be as portable as possible. Right now I'm looking at this https://www.amazon.com/IK-Multimedia-microphone-smartphones-tablets/dp/B007534LFK and an xlr lavalier microphone. My question now is 1, will that work? and 2 is there a better solution?

This one works great and you can charge your ipad while using it.

Just as an update: The Vortex (and any other self-powered usb controller) works great with this cable: amazon link

It doesn't work w/the wireless, dongle, though, it has to be wired in.

Thank you! I considered that one, and just ordered the Supcase Unicorn Beetle Pro. Only $30 shipped, and survived CNET's drop test as compared to many other more expensive cases.

That SUUUCCCKKSS.... Amazon has 1 left for $40 more. https://www.amazon.com/Decibel-Eleven-Switch-Controller-Switcher/dp/B00H9IL9PG/

I'll search around some gear sites tonight and PM you if I find any at a better price.

I have this Korg nanoKey studio and it works pretty well on the iPad. The keys are velocity sensitive but shaped kind of different from a conventional keyboard but I don’t use it for live performance so not a big problem for me.

u/sanpompon · 1 pointr/ipadmusic

Well, Inalways get expensive shit, so you might want to do some more research. But, Id get this one:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B071949CZP#Ask

Mind you, the optane ram is not regular ram. You still need to buy the ram for that, and I'd get an SDD like a Samsung like a Samsung Evo with nvm for the system, and a SATA SSD for additional storage (sound banks, samples, etc)

Also, if you do plan on doing some graphics, you probably want the skull candy NUC instead. But, strictly for audio, these things are incredibly convenient and straightforward.

u/Orksen · 2 pointsr/ipadmusic

Something like this could solve it.

You might enjoy getting one of these.
