I recommend this book - The War of Art: Break Through the Blocks and Win Your Inner Creative Battles. This post reminds me of what Steve Pressfield refers to as resistance. If you were to follow his advice, I think he'd recommend taking on 'pro' habits and focusing on just one thing til it's done and viewing the drive to not complete it, in your case because another idea popped up, as resistance.
