Ooh, I definitely didn't think I did, but seeing the markings on the inside, I'm almost positive this is the same one (aside from the color).

If so, then yes!

You can definitely feel and hear a quality difference between them. But (especially for the price), it's surprisingly loud. Like, I'm really impressed with the amplification.

The tines seem to be the same sort of coated metal (chrome plated), which I suspect is plated spring steel but have honestly no way to know. Those have a particular sound to them. The Gecko tines have like a rich, bell-like tone to them that I have yet to find in other brands. (I'm honestly not sure why or where they are sourcing their tines from, but I'd really like to know.) However, these plated tines are super common and perfectly fine.

It's not the same quality as the Gecko, but it's really not a bad option, tbh. I'd recommend it for a good, inexpensive starter kalimba. It's leagues better than the Ranch one I had bought before and nearly half the price.

I bought it on a whim because it was cheap (on sale) and black. And I find that this is one I pick up and play often.

I usually prefer the solid body kalimbas because the resonator boxes are uneven in their resonance. But this one's not that bad. If you like the way it sounds on the video they provided (which, in person, I'd say is a little brighter and more "springy", for lack of a better word), it's not a bad option for the price.

(I've been up all night long, lol, but if you remind me in several hours, I can post a video with clearer audio for you.)

Yeah here it is on https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PPF7R5B/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_dhIKDbR7FE99T

I’m using the 17 key if that helps with anything. Greatly appreciated !

Hey I just went through this whole process so hopefully my experience helps you out.

-From What I understand the Alto in the Key of G is going to have the most resources out there as far as song books and tutorials. However it looks to me that the 17 Key Kalimba in the key of C has a decent amount as well.

-The Hugh Tracey Alto is the High end "Martin" or "Taylor' of the Kalimba.

-There are a lot of 17 Key Kalimbas on Amazon, most of them being in the Key of C. (some come un-tunned though and you have to do all that yourself)

I wanted to go for the Hugh Tracey Alto but opted to Start with the 17 Key "high" end gecko https://www.amazon.com/Kalimba-Performance-Protection-Professional-models/dp/B079JMMNXN/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1537143542&sr=8-4&keywords=gecko+kalimba
Mostly due to the fact that I will probably get one in G and C so I figured I could go with the cheaper one first to make sure I know what I want.

Sure I'd let you know. It's on my cart but I don't have a reply from the seller yet.
By the way speaking of oddly shaped kalimba's have you tried the Tom kalimba? I think you've posted a photo on your article kalimba buying guide about waterfall shaped holes.

I've been seeing a few reviews on this. Few difference I have noticed though is the "landscape" shape, metal bridge, and bag-lile handle. 😆

This is my kalimba. It came tuned to C I think.
What was your process for learning the Mario theme on the kalimba?

I got mine from here. Not sure of the brand either.
