What budget are you looking at and where in the world are you?

Personally I'm not a fan of "Pyle" products and find the quality of both the sound and construction to be sub par.

If you don't mind only using CD+G discs and DVD's, then this is quite good value for money:
http://www.amazon.com/Karaoke-USA-System-Function-GF829/dp/B0085M6SUQ/ref=sr_1_36

Stepping up a bit in price and features, the VocoPro Jamcube 2 is a good machine, but looking at the amazon reviews some people have had some issues with the microphones.

Don't forget, one of the most common solution is a lot of DVD players have a microphone input and support Karaoke CD's and DVD's...

Basically, you will need:

  1. Microphones. You can go wireless like this and NEVER go VHF, always UHF. Or normal wired mics.

  2. A mixer to run the mics into then out to your receiver. I watched the video that showed the INPUTS and it looks like you will need a mixer with HDMI OUT. Like this one unless there is some analog IN that I missed. This might narrow your options.

  3. A music + video source. Doing Karaoke you obviously want the video of the scrolling words along with the music. So, how are you planning on doing this? I use a laptop, run HDMI out to the monitor, run audio out to the mixer (the same one with the mics), and voila. You've got karaoke.

  4. A Karaoke program to play the karaoke files/songs. You can use Karafun, buy a program like Kanto player, or even use good ol' Winamp!. There's even a bunch of karaoke songs on YouTube that are pretty awesome.. Not a bad option for home use.

now, here's your problem--maybe. If you are running AUDIO/VIDEO through your Xbox into one HDMI input and your MICS into ANOTHER HDMI input....can you have them playing through the receiver at the same time? See what I'm saying. So you might need to simply run ALL of your audio through your MIXER (mics, music) and run your video through your TV.

Anyway, sorry if it's confusing. I'll try to answer any questions.

Lol, it’s fine! Everyone has a life! Do you think the Optical out will sound better or have any benefits over the headphone jack?

I was literally using a car auxiliary cable with a 1/4” adapter to plug into the mixers line 2. However that stops me from using the second mic. However the sound quality was bad, believe the adapter though. It was hard to get a good connection.

Option 1: tv headphone 3.5mm jack to RCA (TAPE IN)? $9

Option 2: use Optical out/ DAC and use the RCA-1/4 cable I already bought (could return to amazon if I don’t need it though) $13.69

It didn't work for me. I tried a variety of them, thanks to Amazon I was able to return them all without hassle. I ended up with this for my dad, it's simple & working great so far.

/u/tplgigo is absolutely right. You gotta have a signal booster of some sort. But, to tell you the truth, if there are a lot of other devices (register, jukebox, televisions, etc.) attached to the wi-fi, it will make little difference. If the bar has a window where you can tuck away a small device, you may could spring for a standalone hot spot. But that is $30-$50 out of your own pocket each month for a few gigabytes. Though, Lord help ya if you aren't in an area with a strong cell signal....

Thanks for the information. It seems like this mixer would do the trick. I was just planning on using youtube karaoke videos as a source of files/songs to start. I can always hook up a PC if needed in the long term and go from there. I would only need to use it with a single source, and would likely be plugging and unplugging the mixer when not in use. It only does HDMI 1.4, and we watch a lot of 4k content and all my other devices are HDMI 2.0b comptaible.

Ditto the above.

People will need to be able to hear the backing tracks over their singing which will require amplification. Laptop speakers will not be adequate.

There should be a music equipment rental place near you. Something you might consider is a one piece PA/Amp. Something like this, easy to setup, and should be relatively inexpensive to rent for a day or two: https://www.amazon.ca/Ultra-Compact-150-Watt-Monitor-Speaker-System/dp/B00378GEAM/ref=pd_sbs_267_4

A Chromecast for YouTube + this which allows you to sing through your tv speakers: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MFV1KRB/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_i_-2TMDb887HMTK
