I use one with a similar design from
Secrid. I've had mine for about three years now and it's held up exceptionally well. The build quality is excellent.

The sliding mechanism works perfectly. It is so quick and convenient when using a card to pay, and I can definitely say that it is durable enough to put up with some abuse. I tend to fidget with things when I'm bored and I often use the sliding mechanism to keep my hands busy. No exaggeration, I must have pulled that lever ten thousand times by now, and it still works as if it was new.

When I first got it I thought the size would be very limiting, but it's been perfect for what I need. Holds 5-6 full size cards, and the fold out section is roomy enough for anything I've needed. Inside mine I normally have a small amount of cash, one or two business cards, a few small loyalty cards, and my house key in the inner pocket. All of that fits neatly without effecting the profile of the wallet.

The only time it gets a bit tight is if I need to carry a large amount of cash. 10+ notes will be a stretch. That's not really an issue for me as I use contactless payments for anything I can, but it might be an issue if you need to carry a lot of cash. Though you could probably carry one of these wallets and a money clip and still have a smaller profile than many full size wallets.

Overall I think this type of wallet is fantastic, and I don't ever see myself going back to a regular wallet. I highly recommend the Secrid brand, as it's what I've tried, but I'm sure there are other quality brands too. The Kickstarter you linked looks decent, though I would still recommend giving Secrid a try based on my own experience. I've gifted or recommended them to three people so far and they all still use them and speak very highly of the brand.

EDIT: After reading this back I feel like it may come across as a marketing post. I'd like to clarify that I am in no way affiliated with Secrid. I'm just a big fan of the product.

Had to google that product... as a former copywriter and someone that does ecommerce... what a strange site/presentation. Something about using meh renderings when there's a real product seems so weird. But thanks for sharing!

Full disclosure - I'm not a VR expert, nor an industrial designer... but I believe a lot of it comes down to the nature of the materials. This softer case can not only survive things like children but also adapt to more phones. It's just a lot less complicated and rugged.

And the audio component is something I just have to trust my friend, his people and their experience and reviews of other audio components he's brought to market via Kickstarter: https://www.amazon.com/Outdoor-Tech-OT4200-Turtle-Shell/dp/B00Z6S67BM?ref=ast_p_pg_ma

His other campaigns were really neat to watch and then people on the other side of the country and see the product used in the Lower East Side or out on a hiking trail.

I have to imagine that they're almost all certainly not worth the money. Even giving them the benefit of the doubt, they're probably highlighting only those "successes" which may very well have succeeded without them and ignoring the campaigns that failed even with them -- it's easy to blame the creators for failure and take credit for the success.

If you want some unsolicited advice, I can see a few things that are going to hurt your campaign:

  1. Whatever you did early with your early bird tiers has made for a maze of options. That's almost certainly hurting new backers as they're trying to sort out which tier to pick.
  2. You're probably getting a lot of people who think ~$70 is reasonable, but are hit with $100 once shipping is in.
  3. This is your first campaign and little track record. I couldn't tell if lea.bike is your company, but the top result is the KS and not your company page. That, in and of itself, might scare folks off.
  4. That is a really fast delivery estimate. It's already February, you have 17 days left to go, and you're saying delivery in July. Note that you also say August later in the campaign. If you're funding a manufacturing run, I'd be curious how you're doing it that quickly.
  5. I think there's also a perceived value issue. Why would you spend $100 on this when less glamorous versions (like this one http://smile.amazon.com/Delta-Leonardo-Single-Storage-colors/dp/B000FGTTEW?sa-no-redirect=1) ship free next day for $14.

Also I know one guy who made a blog and another who made an online magazine through kickstarter. Both are free on the web.

Oh and the boardgamegeek ratings for some of the board games have changed.

It seems like you could just buy this: Zojirushi Zutto automated drip-over coffee machine.

It basically makes 4-5 cups of pour over style coffee (uses Melitta #2 filters) using a diffused drip method.

I make hand pour-over coffees at home, but have switched to using the Zutto when I want a faster cup.

No moving parts and very easy to clean. Since the coffee is made in the filter, you just toss the filter and rinse the decanter. The actual machine basically just boils water and drips it into the filter, so it never needs cleaning.

This KS seems like a more complicated version of the Zutto. Sure it's pour-over rather than diffused drip, but the rotating part makes me nervous.

Question for you - why do you think that's similar? I need to figure out how to convey that to people. You're the third person to google that lamp and show it. It would really help me out if you told me exactly what made you think they were comparable.

___

To respond to your question:

It is not the same, at all. It's like comparing a night light to a light bulb. Or it's like a single lightbulb vs opening a window on a bright day.

That lamp is 3000 lumens, this one is 7000 lumens, and when you experience it, it feels like much more than twice the light. It has no dimming options really, pretty much just on and off. And the lighting casts shadows and is uneven. I have that lamp, it broke and I had to tape it together.

That lamp is compared in the page I linked to, take a look. It's hard to clearly convey through an image.

The 6000 lumen halogen lamps were the most popular floor lamps ever. When they were banned in the mid-90s, they were allowed to have a 3000 lumen halogen bulb. No one bought those, because they provided very little light, like the one you're showing. No lamp has gone over 3000 lumens for 20 years.

Try it yourself - buy a 180w halogen floor lamp with a legal 3000 lumen bulb, and then buy a 300w, 6000 lumen bulb, and compare. Anyone who experienced those lamps in the mid-90s would know what I'm talking about. Many people wondered where they went.

I have no knowledge of your knife beyond the poorly written and mildly deceptive campaign- Please answer questions:

where is the blade forged?

what is the RC hardness on the blade after treating? you claim to treat the blade to gain 1-2 hardness, but never tell us the actual before or after hardness numbers..

and why didnt you use a high end steel along the lines of VG-10, 154Cm or S30VN(even s35V) all of which are undeniably more suitable blade steel for a high end knife(even on a $100 knife i expect better than 440).

id actually like to hear your reasoning for using an obscure but soft 440a mix on a +$150 blade, when i can get a Shun in VG-10 for the same price Half the price as your unknown maker 440a blade?
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000Y7KNQ/ref=psdc_289857_t1_B004YG7D9C

also who is your knife maker for the prototype? can you link a portfolio of past works in blade smithing?

u/GoodBadBot · 3 pointsr/kickstarter

Agreed. I just lost my last wallet and was searching for a minimalist wallet. I would have passed this by for a few reasons:

  1. Looks like it's the same thickness regardless if you have 1 or 6 cards.
  2. If I have cash, where do I throw it?
  3. $30 for a wallet in this market is a tough sell.
  4. Gotta be honest, it's not terribly attractive
  5. What happens if I have more than 6 cards (which is totally reasonable, I have an ATM card, license, AAA card, Tesla key, my health savings account card, my health insurance card, and usually three normal credit cards)

I just purchased this and I don't see what the MACH 1 does better, and I see a lot that it does worse. This one's 2/3 of the price, I can get it in two days, it has two "pockets" for cards and a 3rd pocket for cash, coins, or a key.

I hate poo-pooing other's ideas, but I feel like you may want to re-examine the problem you're trying to solve here. Why is your solution better than others?

Get these (NuForce Cube Portable Speaker) for $99. They sound amazing and doubles as great DAC.

Someone just submitted this project 30 min before you... i think you're just selling an Ad here...

but how is this different or better than a Timex?

simple design for $30 or this one

or a nicer one for $45

> Our prototype didn't cost us a fortune to produce

Well yes, your so called "prototype" looks like you just took an existing cooler and attached all extras mentioned to it.

>and we created it with mass production in mind.

What exactly do you mean by that? Because 35k will get you nowhere if you would like to produce the cooler, but that does not matter, because what you do is just buying all parts that exist already and slam them together.

What production method did you use to produce, what you say is your prototype?

That's kind of expensive for a printed sheet, since it requires a folding table for support. You can get the same thing with a full frame inside, and those are easier to fold up/hide. Like this...

Ask them for the patent numbers if their kickstand is patented.

Spec wise it doesn't seem too far out there. They are just repackaging a standard panel and control board in a neat case (which could explain the interface shift as they are off the shelf components from suppliers).

If you want to take a less risky option, just buy one that's already available and grab a USB power pack - https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-MB169B-1920x1080-Portable-Monitor/dp/B013XFJKGI/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1549341182&sr=8-3&keywords=portable+monitor+1080p
