What? Really. I mean maybe I just have a good toolkit.

https://www.amazon.com/iFixit-IF145-299-4-Driver-Bit-64pc/dp/B0189YWOIO/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_469_t_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=91RN8DG791R0K153PWES

Literally a 30$ set of screwdrivers for taking apart tech and you have the bits you need.

The "essential" toolkit also includes those same bits.

I also never took this as OP calling his Macbook special. The only reason this was even posted was because OP thought his laptop from 2010 would be any different than any other laptop ever taken apart.

Might be an easier to purchase from link, but /u/RainBoxRed got it right. I'm not sure if they're worth it but if you don't own a crescent wrench and think you need one, I'd but that instead. They stay tight on the fastener and when you use them in the right direction, they tighten as you pull or push on them.

It's a Witzman I found on Amazon. Needed something cheap that could fit a lot and this worked great

Pentel Sharp Automatic Pencil, 0.9mm Lead Size, Yellow Barrel, Box of 12 (P209G) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0026ZPWVY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_NhzTBbZFJ5R33

It's a good pencil. Also IMO the thing to look for between a good and cheap mechanical pencil is a metal sleeve at the tip to hold the lead and keep it from breaking. The shitty plastic pens people used in school never worked well because the lead always broke. Metal sleeve + minimum 0.7 lead = good pencil.

Soldering mat. It’s some sort of silicone.

Salomon Speedcross 4: https://www.amazon.com/Salomon-Speedcross-Trail-Running-Shoe/dp/B01MQY7YEO/ref=sr_1_19?ie=UTF8&qid=1501109935&sr=8-19&keywords=salomon+speedcross+orange

They're great. But I recommend the "CS" version, which is water resistant. The "GTX" version has Gore-Tex, but I'm increasingly frustrated with the lack of breathability I've experienced from Gore-Tex.

Also, pick up a spare "Quicklace" kit in case the plastic lace lock cracks.
