Hey!! So I would love to help but it would also be great to know what type of gaming you are doing!! In general if you have a decent gaming rig they will be able to do drawing, 3d modeling, and school work with no problem. You have your budget of $750 but I would push you to add another 100 as I find the $800-$900 range is the best price for value that you can find.

Based on someone playing your average AAA games and stuff here are some specs I would be trying to find in a laptop:

CPU: looking for a 8th generation processor, I know that I7-8750H, I5-8300H and other processors in that range are great and will be more than capable for all CPU needs

GPU: looking for at least a GTX 1050 but a 1060 would be preferable (but may be hard to find unless in used market) should give you a stable 60+ FPS for most all games at medium settings

Memory: definitely looking for an SSD, a common combination is an 128Gb+ SSD paired with a 512Gb/1Tb hard drive for data/game storage

RAM: looking for 16Gb of ram (8will work but that’ll be throttling your laptop in most cases)

Screen: you said you like drawing.. so this one is interesting. Generally you aren’t looking for a 4K screen, a reversible screen, or a touch screen in a gaming laptop but those are things that you definitely may want and should look into. Also 60hz should do you fine. A 120/140hz screen would be great if you can find one, but not needed

So I will leave one recommendation here for you to look at, but you definitely need to look around for laptops in that range of specs and look at the used market you can often find amazing deals in this range from people upgrading from a 1050 to something more powerful for a pure hardcore gamer, or someone who is just tired of the laptop.

$683.78 Dell G5 While I did say $800 is often a good mark, I decided to give you a little bit of a budget one. This is a nice laptop in terms that it is nice and sleek compared to most gaming laptops, has nice build quality from all reviews I have seen and should handle most all games well. However it isn’t a touchscreen, 4K (it does have a nice IPS screen though), or reversible to a touch pad it would suit you nicely in terms of processing power

Ending note: look around, look at used markers, and please don’t just get a HDD make sure the laptop has an SSD of some type, that is the one thing that universally I have found people hated being limited by.

Well, I've used Asus before so I stand by their products. Also just bought a GL502 with 980m.

Gl702: Skylakex1060. Decently thin/light with just the right stuff. My previous Asus was the gtx 660m and these things are built damn good for the price.

$1348.

GT72VR: Skylake x 1060. I'm not too keen on MSI but people on Reddit love emm. Seems like it might actually be at a better price point.
CUK MSI GT72VR Dominator Virtual Reality Laptop (i7-6700HQ, 12GB RAM, 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD, NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1060 6GB, 17.3" Full HD, Windows 10) - 2016 VR Ready Gaming Notebook Computer https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01JMDH7LU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_cyJJybMNM02JY
$1300.

Predator 17x: Skylakex1060. Acer's super fkin sweet laptop. Don't know much about them but damn do I love their lineup. About the same price point as the MSI.
Acer Predator 17 Gaming Laptop, 17.3 Full HD, Intel Core i7, NVIDIA GTX1060, 16GB DDR4, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD, G5-793-72AU https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LZMFF0Z/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_lFJJybP0MJHRX
$1344

I didn't shop around for the best prices, you may get lucky on Craigslist or eBay for a second hand. Maybe you can find an openbox.

How are these?

Hi I wanted to know when with upgrading, with the 8 GB DDR4, 2666 MT/s (to make it 16GB), a usb portable hard drive (I kinda like this as I also use Xbox, it’s good for space on there too) or an 2.5 ssd 1TB?
Can I use any? Is there a limit? Is there any good but for a good price? Because I’ve seen a

For the 8GB DDR4;

Like and the hard drive is a hard drive really 😂

I just need a 2ed idea of it these won’t work or this there one I need? Because it’s a pretty good price and I don’t mind spending £80 for an upgrade 😂

The dell is a good laptop but I want something more. I did look into the MSI you mentioned and that is a awesome laptop.

I was also looking at this laptop, and comparing this one with the MSI

I was also looking at the Acer Predator Helios, but I seen the cooling system on it and I didn’t like how the set up of that was. Amazing laptop, but the cooling was why I wouldn’t get it.

Thanks for your response!

If you want the best game performance for the price, these are slightly over but probably the best value, with the 6GB GTX 1060 and also IPS / 72% NTSC displays.

Dell inspiron 7567 user here. I5, GTX 1050, 8Gb ram, 1920x1080 TN panel. $800 at best buy, great laptop in my opinion. To prevent it from getting hot while gaming though, i just purchased a laptop cooler on amazon and it works great. the only thing about this laptop is I noticed almost all games get capped at 30FPS when on battery right off the bat even when switching to performance mode in power settings.

This is what I use and it works great. Keeps my laptop cool even running Witcher 3. I have a 15.6in though, but this does say it's made for up to 17in. I had $10 credit on amazon so I got it really cheap, but it has never failed me, runs quiet, and can be used either in tilt or flat positions. I'd say check reviews from people with 17in laptops but it's definitely a recommendation from me.

Actually, I've been heavily researching laptops for ~$800. Here are my results.

You got this Asus that has 8 gigs ram, gtx 960m, 6th gen i7. With shipping, handling, and a cheap ssd, you get it for $922

You got this other Asus that's got the same specs except cheaper with the SSD and a mediocre core, gaming doesn't need a great core but it is a minus. This is so far my top choice.

You got this dell that basically is like the last one except a bigger SSD and a worse core.

The one you suggest, I think its this one has no SSD. The i5 is actually better then the i7 6500 and the gpu is slightly better because more gpu gigs. I'm still shopping but a specific link would be nice. The SSD is kinda important

You could buy a laptop cooling pad off Amazon. I bought this one for my Lenovo y50-70 and am a happy camper.

I leave the lid propped open with two empty pill bottles, on top of a cooling pad on a perforated metal shelf lol, a bit OCD but I like my 4k HDR. I have a ROG g752vm.

This is the cooling pad I have

I've been searching myself and I'm pretty sold on the I5-8300 / GTX 1060 version of the Dell G5.
