Thank you for the feedback. I really appreciate it man.

Case wise, I was looking to get this - http://www.amazon.com/Diztronic-Matte-Flexible-Sprint-T-Mobile/dp/B00FEQ429U and I already have matte screen protectors. I have skimmed this sub plenty and the diztronic both looks good and is raved about here.

Okay, I figured it was the loud minority kind of thing. I am super excited to get this phone! Coming from a GS3 to a Moto G, I want a big screen. My gf has a G2 and I am always messing with it. I gave her Cloudy G3 and she loves it and so do I. I want to give mahdi a chance just because of how I love the aosp lock screen and overall aosp look. Next paycheck man, pouncing on it!

Where would you look to buy one? I have been watching swappa and eBay for a d801 variant. Looks like $250-270 would be ideal a good price, would you agree?

Again, thanks for the feedback!

who likes good news? everyone!

there is a "Verizon Cases Unite" thread over on XDA with lots of pictures!

i personally have/use the Incipio DualPro -- it is cheaper on Amazon

Previously, i have used the PureGear SlimShell -- at one point you could use the coupon code "PURE50" to get 50% off but i am not sure if it is still active?

my phone also came with an Incipio Feather case which although offering basically no protection it does make the back pretty flat

if you just want something to make the back of the phone look a little better/be less slippery the best bet is probably the Feather if you want protection along the line of the Otterbox Commuter series, your best bet is the DualPro and if you want something that is a little between the two you can go with the SlimShell

let me know if you have any questions, i will be glad to answer them!

Diztronic TPU Case Seriously, this is awesome. Low profile, fits perfectly, slides in and out of your pocket easily and comfortably, feels good, and still offers good protection. I dropped my phone down the stairs at my school the other day and its still crack free. :)

I've had a G2 since it was released and have been using the same car mount that I used with my old Galaxy Nexus. It's universal and the best dock I ever purchased. It uses you CD slot on your stereo. No having to stick it to your windshield or dash and worrying about it detaching or anything. One of the best accessories I ever got for a phone.

They also have a newer one that works with a magnet. I never used it, but it gets good reviews. I just prefer the old tried and true original more. Here's the newer one as well:

This is the exact item I ordered (remember, mine is a Verizon):

http://www.amazon.com/Black-Screen-Digitizer-Assembly-Optimus/dp/B00HSE6A7S

I ordered both from the same place, as it was the only company offering Prime shipping at the time. Since it was shipped by Amazon, I figured I would take the chance as the return process is easy.

I recommend you also order the 1mm tape, and take pics of the installation process, focusing on all the connectors/grommets.

Good luck, and don't hesitate to post if you need help.

Depending on what sort of price you can find one for, I'd say it's still a killer phone. The camera isn't the best thing vs the new note and S5 but if that's not a deal breaker, everything else is awesome.

I've had mine for about a year now and assuming you root it and throw a custom rom on there (I like slim rom the best), it absolutely FLIES and battery life is insane. I rarely have less than 50% battery at the end of the day and I use my phone heavily with wifi/bluetooth always on.

Definitely get a case though. The phone is a thin little plastic thing so I presume dropping it would send it off to the great phone graveyard in the sky.

I'm using the Aero Armor case which is SOLID and gives the phone a much more durable feel. The thicker rubber corners offers extra protection from drops (which mine has had) and keeps the phone in pristine condition

  1. I see no need for extra battery life. My phone easily lasts all day (12 to 15 hours).
  2. Cloudyg3 if you must root. I run stock Rom with nova launcher.
  3. None for me. I know GPS and head phone jack problems are common but I have not experienced any of these. The only thing I highly recommend is setting a message limit, I didn't at first and ended up with like 10,000 texts that took me days of frustration to delete. Nothing would work to delete then until a 3rd party app finally worked.
CASE: you must have a case, no exception. I use this one for my VS980. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00EVBHQGA?cache=954a4da81febd8eb630b5287c0c8ad59&pi=SY200_QL40&qid=1406742903&sr=8-1#ref=mp_s_a_1_1

Enjoy your g2, It's an excellent phone that will last a long time!

I have the Diztronic TPU case right now. While it looks and feels great, I'm not sure it will absorb the impact of a fall as well as silicone does. I prefer silicone despite it's drawbacks because I'll take function over form when it comes to safety.

But plenty of people are happy with TPU because it's a fair compromise between hard plastic and soft silicone. It really comes down to what you prefer.

u/OldAccountIsGone · 1 pointr/lgg2

I do, Keyboards and Mice work fine, never had a problem with Flash drives either (I used 32GB). For Emulation I would recommend a Bluetooth controller because I tried it with an Xbox 360 controller and the huge ass cable was a big hassle so I gave up and got a Bluetooth one. Here it is for the US, 29 dollars. I got mine in Germany for around 31 dollars and don't regret it at all, most games work out of the box like GTA SA, GT Racing 2, Real Racing 3, Modern Combat games, Dead Trigger 1 and 2 and so on. Emulators require a 2 minute configuration but that's not too bad. Especially awesome if you have a Slimport HDMI adapter and play with it on your TV, which is not possible with wired controllers.

EDIT: Here, I found it in white for 23.50 dollars

I love my Incipio Feather case. Protects the corners, lifts the phone just enough screen-side when facing down, and it adds basically nothing to the weight. It has great grip as well.

http://www.amazon.com/Incipio-Feather-Case-Verizon-Packaging/dp/B00F4AYBPG/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1_m?ie=UTF8&qid=1395197003&sr=8-1-fkmr1&keywords=incipio+feather+lite+lg+g2

u/Polymira · 2 pointsr/lgg2

I'm on Verizon, so my model being slightly different in size then the rest somewhat limits my choices.

I originally had an Incipio DualPro, and while I liked how it made the buttons on the back more pronounced, I never liked the case itself much.

I just got a Cruzerlite Bugdroid Circuit Case and it feels great. I really love this thing, and it's $10.

Screen Replacement kits - They're all basically the same part.

Here's the video I used to replace my screen. Just a couple weeks ago. Works great.

Here's the Insipio case for the VS980 Verizon version of the phone. Just purchased it. I LOVE it so far.

pro tip - Don't tighten the screws any more than an extra quarter turn past finger tight when reassembling the phone after new repair. Learn from my mistakes. They really don't need to be tight.

u/njggatron · 1 pointr/lgg2

Consider buying a USB OTG cable, like this one. Then hook up a mouse and use a cursor on your phone.

Here's an example that I just made on my G2. I have an OTG cable that was dirt cheap, and used the mouse straight from my desktop.

If you liked this tip and would like more tips like this, support NASA. Doesn't matter if you are not in the US. Send them a goat.

http://www.amazon.com/Trident-Case-Aegis-Optimus-Packaging/dp/B00EVBHQE2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1427069692&sr=8-1&keywords=g2+trident 10 bucks.. Plus it has a Lanyard attachment point :) I've dropped it on hardward floors many times and it survives my 1 year old walking around with it. has OK built in touchscreen protector. My only grips are pain to open (not tthat big of a deal) and when face down on a desk, the plastic front is slippery verse my S4 defender case (work phone).

TLDR: Good cheap case with corner bumpers.

u/leftcoast-usa · 1 pointr/lgg2

I think there is more than one grade of gorilla glass, and the G2 is not the top.

I got one for mine that I like a lot. In fact, it's pretty hard to tell there's one there. It's very smooth and clear. It's called Obliq LG G2 Screen Protector Zeiss Xtreme - Military Grade Extreme Break and Shock Protection, and I got it on Amazon for $9.99.

u/eerhtmot · 1 pointr/lgg2

I use this one. I love it.Very sturdy and I can use my phone just fine.

u/GSXP · 2 pointsr/lgg2

Thanks for the info! I bought non-standard chargers about a month or two ago... I'll stop using them asap. As for the LCD, I ordered this through the 8090team store (Amazon Prime is awesome). Now that I've done this twice, I'd recommend replacing the frame with LCD attached instead of just the LCD/digitizer (something like this)

u/DamageIncorporated · 3 pointsr/lgg2

The 3rd one looks the best but I'd recommend the Diztronic TPU Case, which is what I have on my phone. Here are some pictures, not mine though as I have the Verizon model.

u/RevolcFael4 · 2 pointsr/lgg2

Uh, no. I'll look it up for you thought. Give me a few minutes.

Is this okay? EDIT: USE THIS

Ill link more. One sec.

Another. IGNORE

Note: This is all based off of searches made right now. I don't know of they are the best. I'll keep looking.

People say iLoome is best. Use that.

Final edit: This is a list of screen protectors. See what people say and make a decision from that.

u/bhingque · 2 pointsr/lgg2

After reading several reviews hating on the finish, I decided that I would HAVE to have a case from the start. I ordered whatever was available from AT&T at the time, which was the Body Glove Silver Icon Hybrid 2 gel/shell pack. This case stinks. It's a gel + plastic shell design, but the shell is in two pieces, so it can't snug itself around all 4 sides of the case. After a week of use, it started to just slide off the phone whenever I put it in my pocket.

I ordered a Diztronic Matte Back Black Flexible TPU Case from Amazon, should be here soon. It doesn't look that awesome, but it was cheap.

FWIW, I like my AT&T LG G2 just fine without a case. I actually really like the back of the thing. My fingers find plenty of friction there, so I don't always have to support the phone with a finger underneath, which I usually did have to do with my Galaxy Nexus. Edge gestures are a bit of a PITA with a case on it, too.

u/i_just_like_pasta · 1 pointr/lgg2

I would recommend this case instead: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00F4AYI2M/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1395941843&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40

The main reason being that this case makes the buttons much easier to feel and identify.

u/XombieJuice · 2 pointsr/lgg2

I have an Incipio Dual Pro and I love it. When you shop for cases though, remember that the Verizon variant (VS980) requires a different case from all the other variants, because of their back buttons. I noticed while shopping this difference causes limitations to how many VS980 compatible cases are available.

u/no_4 · 1 pointr/lgg2

Iloome. If I have it mounted in my car, on a sunny day, then the halo will appear. That said, for the (3 weeks?) I've had it on - I can just smooth the halo away.

Any other time and it's fine - it's just in that situation, that a (thus far) temporary halo forms.

u/LegitimateCrepe · 1 pointr/lgg2

Technically. This page says the G2 supports MHL adapters such as this one, which will output the device's audio and video over the microusb port to HDMI

Using such an adapter to connect your phone to an HDMI receiver will get you 100% digital audio, as well as, of course, the display.

u/melosebrain37 · 1 pointr/lgg2

I know it would still be wired to the tv, but you could try something like this Micro USB to HDMI

u/Yomat · 1 pointr/lgg2

I like and own:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00ELMXZSC?vs=1

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00FEQ429U/ref=pd_aw_sbs_2?pi=AC_SX230_QL60

The first one is very protective without adding too much bulk. The second is very slim and is my 'daily driver'.

u/pSyChO_aSyLuM · 2 pointsr/lgg2

I want to get this:
http://www.amazon.com/Trident-Case-AG-LG-G2-RED-Series-Optimus/dp/B00EVBHQE2/

Unfortunately it doesn't ship for 3 to 4 weeks. I'd probably go with the black one. Looks like it should work for all models including Verizon.

u/assum09 · 1 pointr/lgg2

This is what I used to replace my Verizon LG G2's screen. I would recommend buying some adhesive tape made specifically to be used with phones since I just used some random double sided tape and my screen had a gap which caused my phone to randomly sense me touching multiple points on the screen.

u/SofisticatedPhalcon · 1 pointr/lgg2

Trident Case Cyclops Series Case for LG G2 I'm not sure which carrier you have but it does work with VS980. It has a built in screen protector as well. Offers just as much protection as an Otterbox for half the cost.

u/Sir_Beelzebub · 1 pointr/lgg2

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00HSE6A7S/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1416863574&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SY200_QL40

That's the one I ordered, I had a sprint variant btw, and also the pink thing is the tape but I would order more tape just incase you mess up, also be care full when you take out the digitizer from the plastic cover

u/jaiver891 · 2 pointsr/lgg2

Silicone sucks, very sticky, gets full of lint, hard to take out of pockets.

I bought this case, http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FEQ429U/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_fN3ftb0A3SFBR. And it's amazing

u/deajay · 1 pointr/lgg2

That's going to depend on your G2 version. For the VS980 I really like my Incipio Dual Pro, but the Verizon (VS980) has slightly different dimensions than most G2's (I think the rest of the models are compatible with the AT&T D800 as far as physical dimensions for cases).

u/thequestion08 · 1 pointr/lgg2

I have tried a bunch this is the only one that fits. You have to be extremely carefully when applying it because it is the exact width of the screen so if you are off even a little it will be noticeable.

http://www.amazon.com/iloome-ScreenMate-Flexible-Protector-Oleophobic/dp/B00F4AT5Q6

u/kernelhappy · 1 pointr/lgg2

Does it happen to be the incipio dual pro?

I think it has something to do with the way the rubber around the bottom is formed. I think when the phone is in the right position it keeps sound from making it to the mic.

u/baconmastah · 2 pointsr/lgg2

Get a minimalist case. Look for one that doesn't attract dust or fingerprints. If i had to rec one, I'd suggest this.

u/ibejerdan · 1 pointr/lgg2

I've been using one of these for almost a year with no issues whatsoever. That paired with a TPU case is solid protection overall in my opinion and personal experience.

u/forbiddenfatty · 1 pointr/lgg2

My touchscreen won't work after replacing my screen

I had my screen replaced one month ago, but it cracked out of the blue just one week ago. So, I ordered this screen and installed it myself today. However, I had not been able to get the touchscreen to work. Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot this issue, or did I just order a faulty part?
