I've been using this one for the past month. I was looking for something as slim as (or nearly as slim as) the MNML cases but with a little more protection. This checks the right boxes. It's got a really nice matte grippy texture, and the edges are raised enough to protect the screen and camera. I can't attest to the drop protection - I'm pretty careful with my phones ::knockonwood:: - but so far I'm pretty pleased with it. One ding against it: the matte texture appears to be some sort of applied texture rather than the finish of the TPU silicone, so it's beginning the rub off on the corners.

Currently using the Spigen Liquid Crystal Case and a screen protector that now has bad reviews even tho for me it's working amazing. Not sure what's about some tempered glass protectors, they seam to start with great reviews and end up with a lot of complains. Any ways here are the links for both. I'm not fully behind the tempered glass cus of reviews but Spigen has always been my go too for cases.

I've used the Cubevit protector since I got the phone. It's cheap for a 2pk, which is nice in case you're unhappy with the install. It's a wet installation, but pretty easy. It even sticks on the curved edges with no issue and is case friendly.

Honestly, are they any consistently well reviewed/good screen protectors for this phone? I couldn't find anything with many ratings and a high average on amazon. New phone, so that could change.

Right now I don't know if I should get this one from Omoton:
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B075GYH32X/ref=s9u_simh_gw_i3?ie=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B075GYH32X&pd_rd_r=ec77f65a-c187-11e7-9821-4b13dd402765&pd_rd_w=0zBNK&pd_rd_wg=bPlbq&pf_rd_m=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB&pf_rd_s=&pf_rd_r=GKF4MPD64DYXVWPAFZCP&pf_rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=07871b8e-d32a-4963-b98f-ba712077f7f5&pf_rd_i=desktop

I like the look of the spigen cases without a front screen protector, but I'm not certain if the separate screen protectors are any good.

Anybody here have the i-Blason case with the built in screen protector?
https://www.amazon.ca/i-Blason-Protection-Reduction-Protector-Release/dp/B075YGQVWY/ref=sr_1_26_sspa?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1509817614&sr=1-26-spons&keywords=lg+v30&psc=1

I've had similar cases on different phones before, and they are generally a bit bulky for my preference, but if all the screen protectors are bubbling and getting dust underneath, a case like this might be the best option...

u/uberamd · 1 pointr/lgv30

I too don't like cases, but this one is super thin and has a sandpaper feel on the outside: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0753CKGXS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_d0E3BbDMFN1PM

Been using it a few weeks, pretty great.

u/manban100 · 2 pointsr/lgv30

please dont get the g6. That is a downgrade if ive ever seen one. The v35 is a solid phone and I would recommend trying to repair it. However if you say nay, then look at the s8 active. Its super rugged and pretty cheap rn too. Amazon has em refurbished for 299. https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galaxy-Active-SM-G892A-Unlocked/dp/B078YXQ38Z/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=s8+active&qid=1555957147&s=gateway&sr=8-1

This is the exact one I bought but only because I was able to get it the same day at the time I ordered it. This one is slightly less in price. It will likely still be locked to T-Mobile though. I was under the impression that MetroPCS worked on the T-Mobile service though? Did you even try the MetroPCS SIM card in it? Sometimes you need to do a factory reset while the SIM card is inserted for it to activate.

I ordered this case mainly because I'm pretty broke right now but just need a case ASAP before Friday. I like that it's slim but probably won't give a ton of protection like the OtterBox case but it's too bulky for my liking. It will at least have some grip to it and all the nasty fingerprints on the glass back won't be an issue anymore lol. I will definitely get a tempered glass screen protector next.

u/to_love_is_to_err · 3 pointsr/lgv30

The Unicorn Beetle by Supcase always gets great reviews and is probably the closest alternative to an Otter Box, and also more aesthetically pleasing, IMO. My bf had it on his G4 when he had it, and it did a great job protecting it and wasn't too cumbersome; I would say definitely less than an otterbox.

I got the IQ shield water applied one. Comes with two so you can mess one up lol. Took me two tries with one protector, but it worked great, no bubbles or discoloring. Took me like 15 mins total to apply it. edges are perfect even with the spiegen case on.

u/GameeNoobster · 2 pointsr/lgv30

Ringke Fusion is the way to go if you want to still see your back, great for dbrand and slickwraps skins, also not too pricey either, it's protected my phone for about 3 months of a clumsy lifestyle. P.S. The smokey Black version won't have wierd yellowing and it looks great with the black v30.

Fits great. Good grip. Clear. I don't use a screen protector.

u/wordstrappedinmyhead · 5 pointsr/lgv30

I bought the Supershieldz for LG V30 Tempered Glass Screen Protector when I pre-ordered my v30, there weren't many tempered glass options at that time and no reviews aside from the sponsored BS ones (you know the deal..... "10 Best Tempered Glass Screen Protectors / Cases / Accessories / etcetcetc" websites that all have affiliate links to Amazon for the stuff they're shilling).

I've used Supershieldz screen protectors before with no issues, so I wasn't really concerned about getting a bad product.

Top to bottom, coverage is perfectly fine (IMO). Side to side, not 100% perfect. Where the screen curves to meet the bezel there is a small portion of glass exposed, but to be honest I really don't care since the case I bought covers that portion.

BTW, this is the 2nd Ringke case I've used (had one on my previous v20) and I can highly recommend it. Ringke Onyx for LG v30

u/amBush-Predator · 1 pointr/lgv30

Hey id suggest you try this kit for repair since LG wont cover it.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0789YNW5J/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Heres a video by some dude that tried it, might help :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fx8WGb99VCg

EVEN IF it still works i would definitely suggest you do that because the lens that is responsible for optical image stabilisation is directly underneath it. It should have the space to move freely in all directions. All the glass shards will propably hinder the movement and break it (and the crazy glue too)

u/Chattvst · 1 pointr/lgv30

Any of the options you have listed here will work fine. USB c to USB C will give you the quickest charge from my experience.

Ankers is the brand I've used most and I've only had great experience with them.

Try this one.

https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-10000mAh-Portable-Delivery/dp/B07HBTY3Z2/ref=sr_1_10?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1550699599&sr=1-10&keywords=Anker+battery+USBC

They make bigger but they tend to be a little more expensive. Granted I've always found with items like these you get what you pay for.

Ok.
So, I bought the Rode 2nd hand and I received 2 cables.

Microphone to a Smartphone (TRS to TTRS) https://www.amazon.com/Rode-SC7-3-5mm-Patch-Cable/dp/B00L6C8T22

Microphone to a DSLR (TRS to TRS I believe)
When you plug the TRS to TTRS, you can chose the external mic from the camera application (screenshot attached).

So with a direct cable is the easiest way possible. Plug the mic, go to the app, choose it. (keep in mind that if you exit the app, you need to select it again after reopen it) - anoooyiiiing.

u/Jsauce75 · 1 pointr/lgv30

Been rocking this since day 1. I like it a lot and not bulky.

This is what I'm using

https://www.amazon.com/Cubevit-Protector-Updated-Friendly-Coverage/dp/B076Q7PVBT/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&ref_=ya_aw_oh_bia_dp

As long as you're careful and spend time installing it, it's a great screen protector. Comes with two which is nice.

I tried using a tempered glass screen protector, but due to the curved edges the screen protector didn't cover it very well.

u/nx_2000 · 11 pointsr/lgv30

I have the Spigen Liquid Crystal case that I'm happy with. It's successfully absorbed a few drops onto hard flooring.

u/br0adband · 1 pointr/lgv30

The Tudia cases are quite nice, have dimpled sides for extra grip, cover everything that needs to be covered, provides spacing from the front glass and camera assembly on the back, under $8. You could do worse and pay more, save a few bucks and get a decent one:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0762GK1HS/ref=twister_B0762FYFG2

Yes, I have two of 'em, blue for the Wife's V30, black for mine. I also use the Skinomi matte anti-fingerprint anti-glare full screen protectors as well, can't recommend 'em enough:

https://www.amazon.com/Protector-Skinomi-MatteSkin-Anti-Glare-Bubble-Free/dp/B073RRD3Q3

u/CarbonUnit8472 · 2 pointsr/lgv30

I have this one currently and I really enjoy it. Just as good as the OtterBox options and much cheaper price.

u/SpeedySid · 2 pointsr/lgv30

I was disappointed that T-Mobile (previously) only sold the V30 in silver (really wanted the not-for--the-US blue model). Now I'm finally happy with the way the phone looks.

Ringke Fusion case in smoke black edges, clear back. TPU case without slippery edges FTW.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07351MMDP
Silver back hidden by dbrand CF skin.

Also snuck in a 1/2 CTO gel filter over the flash LED as I always like the lighting to be warmer, regardless of the ambient lighting condition.

u/AlekosPanagulis · 2 pointsr/lgv30

Yes. I bought this one: https://www.amazon.it/gp/product/B01552UGSS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and it works. You have to do the following: 1) plug extension cable in the phone without headphone 2) insert headphone 3) enjoy

u/burkjavier · 1 pointr/lgv30

I use a right angle connector as a general rule as I believe is reduces the stress on the headphone jack itself. So something like this

https://www.amazon.com/CableCreation-Headphone-Connector-Compatible-Controller/dp/B0778B142F/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=right+angle+adapter+headphones&qid=1572563494&sr=8-5

Might be useful in your situation as well?

u/an_old_methuselah · 3 pointsr/lgv30

Don't know if it would solve your problem, but I ordered this TRSS cable to force the DAC into high impedance and it sounds much better. But in general, I have no idea what I'm doing with this phone, and probably should have gotten a Jitterbug. So take my advice with a grain of salt. FosPower (4 Inch) 3.5mm Male to 3.5mm Female Auxiliary 4-Conductor TRRS Stereo Audio Extension Cable [24K Gold Plated Connectors] for Apple, Samsung, Motorola, HTC, Nokia, LG, Sony & More

Edit: XDA fiscussion: Different modes in the Quad Dac?

Edit2: You may be able to find a TRRS cable at Sam Ash or Guitar Center locally at most certainly an inflated price.

Omoton . It's $11 for a 2 pack, pretty cheap. It was easy enough to apply.

It's starting to get a few indents and marks on it after a couple weeks, but at that price, it's cheap insurance.

As mentioned, I'm kind of holding out for a cheaper wet-apply TP option.

u/pongalong · 3 pointsr/lgv30

I've got a few cases and I like this one for slim protection, feels good in the hands too. Obviously thinner cases provide less protection. This should handle some drops but I wouldn't count on it for screen protection.

u/BizzyM · 3 pointsr/lgv30

those corners look bad. Did you heat it up at all? Those are going to peel off in a matter of no time.

I'd recommend putting a clear case on it to protect the skin. That's what I've done. Spigen.

u/npontus · 3 pointsr/lgv30

I got the IQ shield one on Amazon. I pretty much exclusively used glass protectors prior to this one since they were as close to the feeling of not having one on as you could get, but I am not a fan of the ones that do not have full adhesive. Since not protecting this expensive hardware is not an option for me I figured what the hell, let's give wet application a try again. I love it so far.
