If you want to save some money, Tuft and Needle makes an super nice mattress. Definitely a touch below Casper, but probably the best you can get at the price point.

But buying online for a mattress these days is the way to go. It will be cheaper and easier (delivery to door for free).

I highly recommend The Best in Tent Camping: Wisconsin, which has not just useful overviews for most of the State Parks (and some County Parks, too, I believe? I don't have the book on hand right now) but also gives specific tips on what campsites in those parks are the best. Hugely helpful. There was also a Flickr album with pictures of those sites floating around last summer when I was looking; I'll see if I can dig it up.

Sure thing!

  • LED light. You can get cheaper florescent style lights. I went with the LED version because it's quicker. I'm a red head and try and avoid excessive UV. I even put sunscreen on my hands before doing my nails.

  • I like the Aimeile Top/Base costs and colors. They're super cheap and last. I especially like their color changing polishes.

  • You might also want to gets some nail clamps for removal so you're not wrapping your fingers in aluminum foil.

  • And maybe invest in some ph Bond. This helps dry out the nail bed and helps the nails last longer.

"You merely adopted the skeeters, I was born in it, molded by it."

Honest question, how often do you all get skeeters in downtown Madison? Out in the sticks (wooded lot, Wisconsin river) we pretty much live with them from April til November. Usually a good rain brings a batch of fresh out and about 2 weeks later it tails off if there is a drought.

I hate linking it because there is always a run on it at the sporting goods stores on it but this stuff is amazing and no scent. Bow hunting this stuff works awesome.

Feel free to check it out, it's up for pre-order now. If you want a free copy, I'd be happy to send it to you if you're willing to give it an honest review. PM me and I can get that off to ya one I get these street names sorted out. That goes for anyone that wants a free copy.

As for Madison: I wanted to pick somewhere that was far from me, woodsy, but still very rural in the 1800's when it would have been settled. Madison seemed like a happening place so I picked it, only I should have asked these questions a long time ago. I'm putting finishing polish on it right now and I realized that I had my protagonists house on Oak and First Street and never bothered looking up where those were. Imagine my disappointment when I realize those two don't converge. So that led me spending a couple hours on maps till I figured I should just ask people who know it better than me!

Wow, that video is great. Pretty much sums it up.

Check out this book by a guy from Madison, "The Fox" as the Germans called him.

I'm curious to hear the answer. I just enrolled in a Wisconsin DNR class on Learning to Hunt Deer for Food (haven't hunted before). This book made a believer out of a locavore urbanite like myself. Seems like redditors should be a good community to help each other out with local food exchange.

Generally your going to want two layers. An outer layer of a light windbreaker/water resistant shell. To me these always seem to have that bit of a plasticy technical fabric feel to them. Under that I recommend a lightweight down coat. The packable down ones are really nice for those chilly mornings but arent huge and bulky like a full winter coat. It's it's just a light breeze and dry, just the down jacket does good for me. I only add the outer shell if it's really windy or misting/light rain.

Example of lightweight down jacket

You just have to find one labelled as having parking mode (and typically need to make sure it's connected to an always on power source, unless it has a separate battery that can charge while the car is turned on - but idk that I'd trust it to actually be charged if something happened while the car was parked).

There are a few different ways they'll handle this, some will will just constantly record over itself and others will detect motion/an impact and start recording.

I've got a BlackVue brand, has a front and rear and will start recording whenever either of them detect motion or an impact. It was a bit on the expensive side though, around $500. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07C3GNG5K

well worth it, paid for itself in that one incident

Oh, ha! If i were going to be out there for more than like half an hour I would use one of those grabby arm tools, like this: https://www.amazon.com/Vive-Suction-Cup-Reacher-Grabber/dp/B00O47ILVA

Ice Age Trail. Pretty much any part of it, but nearby Table Bluff segment specifically. If you search this sub, it'll pull up past recommendation lists as well.

There's really a lot, I found this great book, 60 Hikes Within 60 Miles of Madison at Half Price and it has introduced me to some great spots I wouldn't have otherwise tried out. It's a little out of date but that's never given me any real problems.

Yeah, I replaced a starter on an old Toyota. Wasn't easy- mainly because it was so cold and my fingers were numb so I couldn't feel where things lined up.

That said, with a few youtube vids it would be well within reasonable expectations for a complete novice to tackle. Since these 4 cylinder engines are very compact, engine components can be hard to reach. It might be wise to grab some socket extensions:

from Amazon. You'd still come out way ahead.

Really? I think if you just shop on Amazon you should be able to find something on Prime. Link to the one I got is below. Its just fine - it scuffs up but honestly I don't really care.

I ordered about 5 of them, each about $10-15, and then just returned the ones I didn't need or want.

/u/whysnow I bought a couple of this one and am happy with them

u/daniand17 · 3 pointsr/madisonwi

I started doing this too! I am also on the SW side. I got my picker from Amazon on Sunday. I regularly walk/bike these paths and decided to bring my picker and a few bags every time I'm out. I didn't want to get gloves just because they will get disgusting, and disposable gloves just generate even more trash.

I believe this is the one I got, and I'm happy with it:
