You can find all of the adaptations in digital form on Amazon. It says "Kindle Edition" on the Amazon site, but if you buy that edition you can read it through the Comixology app as well. As for which ones are worth reading, here's a super quick rundown of a few worthwhile iterations:

Thanos Quest is the prequel to Infinity Gauntlet. It follows, as the title implies, Thanos on his quest to find the Infinity Stones across the galaxy and the deceptions he employs to take them from their caretakers, the Elders of the Universe. Its a very fast read, and because it features the Elders so heavily I would say its worth checking out for an idea of how the MCU Elders might be employed in the upcoming movie.

Infinity Gauntlet is arguably the most famous appearance of the Gauntlet and certainly flaunts its destructive power the most. Many of the iconic scenes having to do with both Thanos and the Gauntlet come from this adaptation.

The Infinity War is the followup to the above adaptation. Even though it shares the title of the upcoming movie I doubt much of this will carry over. The big issue is the lack of Adam Warlock in the MCU, who is a critical part of this storyline. To try and adapt it without him would be pretty much impossible.

Infinity is probably the best bet for an adaptation to read in advance of the movie. Details have leaked that most of the Black Order, who feature prominently in this, will make appearances in the movie, and there is a lot of setup going on in the MCU Phase 3 for a lot of the subplots in this event. By and large the longest of the iterations discussed here (I think it's in the ballpark of 500 pages), but it's clear there will be a lot of concepts and plot points adapted from this.

There are few more adaptations out there (Infinity Crusade for one) that are are worth checking out, but I would say stick with Thanos Quest, Infinity Gauntlet, and Infinity if you want to have the best sense of what to expect from the upcoming movie. Like the other MCU films, don't expect them to copy anything wholesale, but there are plenty of key moments and subplots that will surely make an appearance from each of these stories.

...that turned out to be a much longer writeup than planned. Hope it's helpful!

edit: added a bit more detail for Infinity

I've been reading comics for a while but haven't read any Moon Knight yet and plan on doing so before the show comes out.

The main runs for beginners are:

Charlie Huston/David Finch's Run (Moon Knight #1-13) (this revitalized the character for the modern day)
Warren Ellis/Declan Shalvey's Run (Moon Knight #1-6) (critically acclaimed run)
Jeff Lemire/Greg Smallwood (Moon Knight #1-14) (another critically acclaimed run)

It would probably be easier by using Marvel Unlimited (Marvel's Netflix style subscription to comics)

Or if you want the physical copies your local comic book store. You can try Amazon but it could hard since certain books are out of print.

Huston/Finch's Run Vol. 1 + Vol. 2 - on Amazon
Ellis/Shalvey's Run - on Amazon
Lemire/Smallwood's Run - on Amazon

NOTE: You don't strictly have to read the runs in order. It's like watching Age of Ultron then going back and watching Thor 2. As long as you understand the basic chronology (Huston->Ellis->Lemire) you can read them in any order you want. I've been told the runs are pretty compartmentalized/modular.

Also if you plan on getting Marvel Unlimited it works best with using the app (like on a tablet or a big phone). You can try the browser but I always found it too clunky.

The 1960s Marvel bullpen would make a far more fascinating story. If any of you guys are interested in this stuff, I'd strongly recommend Sean Howe's Marvel Comics: The Untold Story. It's a fascinating portrait of how Marvel formed, the role it had on talent within the industry, and the pretty tragic ending a lot of those guys (especially Kirby) faced.

u/Pickles256 · 2 pointsr/marvelstudios

Marvel Now Run:

One

Two

Three

Moench:

One (This one can be a bit rough to get through. I recommend doing the 1980 run digitally if it’s available in good quality. The run is good but only the pit of print second one is the real run)

Two (This is the one that’s out of print so digital will be much better priced)

Three (This has the absolute BEST issues and the worst. All of Moench’s issues are classics here, but he leaves like 10 issues in and Zelenetz takes over and he’s no good.)

It’ll probably be best to go digital and just read issues 1-33

Hutson:

This run is currently out of print as well but it should show up as “Moon Knight (2006)” on digital sources

Lemire:

Hardcover

u/Varranis · 2 pointsr/marvelstudios

There's so much going on in the comics that the best way to learn is to get immersed in a good story. That said, I very highly recommend the following:

Thor: God of Thunder #1 - #11 by Jason Aaron and Esad Ribic (#1 - #5 are on Kindle unlimited here)
Thanos Vol. 2 #13 - #18 by Donny Cates and Geoff Shaw
Cosmic Ghost Rider #1 - #5 by Donny Cates and Dylan Burnett
Secret Wars by Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribic
Venom Vol. 4 #1 - #6 (on Kindle Unlimited)
Infinity Gauntlet by Jim Starlin and George Perez
The Vision #1 - #12 by Tom King and Gabriel Walta

Some of those directly influenced the movies, some are just amazing stories in their own right.

I've heard Hickman's Fantastic Four and Avengers runs are very good as well, but I haven't read them myself.

Some ongoing books worth checking out are:

House of X / Powers of X
Immortal Hulk
Venom
Absolute Carnage

u/cubitoaequet · 13 pointsr/marvelstudios

You should check out the Matt Fraction/David Aja run of Hawkeye. I don't really read comics much, but that series really made Hawkeye my favorite Avenger. Really great stuff, like an entire issue seen through the perspective of his dog.

Right now you can find that set new or used on Amazon for an exorbitant amount of money, with your link sold out these are hard to find. You can also find a Phase 2 set on Amazon for a decent amount. But to your question, I can see a Phase 3 set or a Marvel First 10 years set but I can see that First 10 year set running a grand easily. I can see a Phase 3 set running around $250 and the overall set running $500-$600 depending on the extras. I expect the case, like Phase One being the Tesseract briefcase and Phase Two being the Orb, being the Infinity Gauntlet. Just my thoughts anyway. I'm sure if Disney thinks they can make money on it they'll put it out. Though we probably won't hear anything about that till closer to the release of Avengers 4.

Amazon has the Marvel Phase 1 Set and Phase 2 Set

Ive got both of these.

The Phase 1 set is getting more and more difficult to come by hence the price. Both of them are pretty sweet though. They both come with replicas of S.H.I.E.L.D dossiers and trinkets from the movies like Scott Langs Basket Robbins name tag, an Avengers Patch, Steve Rogers medical files before and after he took the Super Soldier Serum.

Im sure a Phase 3 set is in the works eventually.

u/Cmeloz33 · 70 pointsr/marvelstudios

> MCU didnt even include the Netflix or ABC shit in their officially released timeline.

Are you talking about the timeline from the "Marvel Studios: the First 10 Years" book? Because that one wasn't even published by Marvel, it's from Titan. This book is the one made by Marvel; it hasn't been released yet. Furthermore, that timeline was clearly only for the Marvel Studios movies, it didn't even include the One-Shots.

u/Stars_And_Garters · 2 pointsr/marvelstudios

Ok, I try to pick things for people that are relatively new and relatively self contained. I think you might like:

Edmondson's Punisher

Ellis' Moon Knight

Slott's Silver Surfer

Silver Surfer gets a little cosmic sometimes but if you just go with the flow it won't lose you.

Let me know if you have questions, want to see something else, or just want to talk comics! I live and breathe Marvel.

There are the "phase box sets" That range in the $60-75 range

Phase 1 Set

Phase 2 Set

Phase 3, Pt.1 Set

At the current price these are listed (these fluctuate quite a bit, if you're patient you can get these a bit cheaper) you're looking at right around the $200 mark... assuming there will be a similar package for Phase 3, pt2 (Black Panther - SM:FFH) add another $70 for that set. So all in all you're looking at $250-300 for the full set of 23 films when it's all said and done if you go this route.

(These sets also have slightly more expensive versions as well that have some collective cards/nicer packaging)

I've got all three of these sets, and they've been pretty good for me. Each disc has the original features of the regular blu-ray release.. There is an additional bonus disc for each set, but it kind of sucks to be honest.... Still though.. If you haven't been collecting all the films as they've been released, and wanted to get them in one big haul, this is certainty an option, and I'm really happy with the ones I purchased.

u/Modification102 · 3 pointsr/marvelstudios

We are waiting for https://www.abramsbooks.com/product/marvel-studios-the-first-ten-years_9781419732447/ to be released, which is an officially licensed marvel product containing a decade's worth of information. This is the most likely place for the timeline to be revealed in an official capacity as it will be working with the complete picture at that point. Other works are unlikely to contain the timeline for products that have not been released yet.

This is not to be confused with https://www.amazon.com/Marvel-Studios-First-Ten-Years/dp/1787730913 which was produced by a third party and is not considered official.

This isn't exactly Marvel Studios related but there are A LOT of Marvel comics available on Amazon right now for very cheap. For example, Infinity Gauntlet is only $2.20 on there, marked down from $24.99. I should note the sales are for the digital versions that can be read on Kindle and/or Comixology.

u/drelos · 1 pointr/marvelstudios

Sean Howe has a fascinating reading.
The Meryl Lynch deal mentioned below is key here, is a bet against all Marvel film rights if the first movies failed they would lose everything. According to Feige, he realized they could bring back some properties [from other studios] and start slowly building the Universe. Somewhere it is mentioned that a fan dropped a nerd question when these characters will meet well before they were on screen. They don't acknowledge this as the spark that initiated all of this, but I guess that frequent question plus the committee assembled for advising the MCU [which was recently dissolved] could came up with such route easily.

I am currently rewatching everything with my wife, wich is crazy because she is not that into Marvel Movies. Next one is Ant Man this week. We watch on Blu Ray so we can see extras, featurettes, deleted scenes and bloopers. I bought all the new BR sets and they are quite satsifying (I even put the little GOTG 1 poster that comes with one set in my daughter's rooms because she is in love with Rocket Raccon)

I'm in the UK and the box sets will cost me £188 ($230) for the blurays on Amazon.co.uk. Price goes up to £275 if I want the 4k versions of the Phase 3 box sets (phase 1 & 2 arent available in 4k)

Phase 1 box set: $45

Hawkeye practically doesn't exist in the MCU. Read Matt Fraction and David Aja's Hawkeye: My Life as a Weapon if you want to fall in love with what the character could be, then get very sad when you realize he might continue to be a cardboard cutout in the movies.

Both are good but Infinity Gauntlet is a bit easier to get into than as Hickman's Infinity is a lot more continuity based. With Infinity Gauntlet you can just get [these] (https://www.amazon.com/Silver-Surfer-Rebirth-Jim-Starlin/dp/0785166432) two [paperbacks] (https://www.amazon.com/Infinity-Gauntlet-Jim-Starlin/dp/0785156593/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_14_t_0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=B03P8TZ7YXMQ8AYEZMQ5) and read them.

I'd say Thanos Quest and Infinity Gauntlet is more important as Infinity War seems to draw more from them than Infinity.

Nope, $25 brand new in store, and as low as $12 paperback on Amazon . Also no, the original infinity War comic is a 6 issue arc immediately after Infinity Gauntlet story . The one you listed was a Warzones/Secret Wars tie in story.
