I played quite a bit of fingerpicking stuff as a kid, doing things mostly on classical and acoustic guitars cause the books I was using were full of classical pieces or bluesy, ragtime things. By the time I discovered mathrock and similar genres I'd been mostly playing with a pick for a long while, but the previous experience of fingerpicking definitely allowed me to jump straight into the likes of TTNG.
I think anything fingerpicking based will give you a strong in-road to the kind of stuff you want to play, but it's definitely a tough one you're aiming for haha. This was my favourite book when I was learning, Progressive Fingerpicking Guitar, proper basic bits up to fairly challenging pieces with a real good variety of styles (all acoustic though).

PS. Cat Fantastic is a real fun song to learn and play, but its a lot of effort to even being playing it cause it uses a spider capo. I bought one just to learn it and haven't really used it since, so in the end I spent like £40 to learn it since I bought the 13.0.0.0.0 tab book too lol
I had guitar lessons and learned there, so I'm not too sure. For a start, subscribe to the music theory subreddit and maybe look a little on there for help. I would highly recommend buying the book 'The AB Guide To Music Theory Part 1' by Eric Taylor. It's pretty cheap and not too much of a long read, but is very clear and will help you loads.

This is UK, but I'm sure the American website has it to.
Turntable is Technics SL1200 MKII with an Ortofon 2M Red cartridge. It's fed into a Schiit Mani preamp. I used to use an Art DJPre II and to be honest I kind of miss it. The sound is pretty similar and sometimes the Mani will bring in this muffled sound and I'll have to restart it. But the Mani looks better and doesn't have a blinding blue LED, at least. The preamp is fed into a Sony home theatre receiver which outputs into a pair of KEF Q100s which sound good enough for my ears.
Is there actual notice that they've broken up? Their EP release was in 2012, they contributed to a Portishead Tribute album in December 2013, their page is still up on the Zankyo Records site, and their account was still active on Twitter in mid October. Maybe... maybe they're taking a break or are currently working on something?! I'll keep my hopes up. :)
I just want to support this question. I'd really like to get my hands on their music, whatever the cost.
Edit: This is the only way I see so far

There's a whole CD of actual humans performing arrangements of Nancarrow's studies, which is apparently out of print. I love this CD.
