Looks like the SM57 is $100, plus after some looking on amazon I found this mbox for about $90. However, I'm wondering if I'd just be able to plug my guitar straight into the 1/4" jacks on the mbox and use amp models/effects on whatever software I end up getting. Or will this result in lower quality recordings? I do have a tube amp so I'm guessing I should take advantage of that.
I'm trying to spend as little money as possible for recording equipment, while still getting reasonable quality sound for being able to put tracks together that I could call my own and be able to show others. They don't have to be fancy studio quality, but just something to get the job done nicely. $200 for just the hardware seems pretty steep, but if that's how it is I guess I just need to save up some more money for this.
I have a really good computer with a 24" monitor, so I should be good as far as that goes. Thanks for the information!
But do good pickups = good guitar? Because the 6 string I found looks pretty awesome and if I switch out the pickups and restring it should be putting out some good quality sound right? Here's the 6 string I'm looking at btw, it looks like a great companion to my F-10.
Like blackfiremoose said, Guitar Pro and slow the song down along with turning on the metronome. It will help you immensely. You can look up cover songs on youtube to see how someone else plays too, to get an idea of how to play the song. Use those two together and you'll learn how to play tightly/cleanly.
As far as breaking down technique, it might be better to take a couple lessons. Plenty of metal guitarists offer lessons and will help you one on one. I know for sure that Dave Davidson from Revocation and Reese Scruggs from Havok do them. I also recommend getting The Guitarist's Grimoire. That will teach you all the scales and modes you'll ever need.
Nice cover but please for the love of metal get some of these
;-)
I'm not sure about the pricing, I got the bugera head on eBay "like new" for $240. Warranty is a good idea because some of these amps have been known to have issues. Still the tone is pretty good for the price. About the pedals I'll post pictures tomorrow on my Instagram I'll send you a link when I do. I run my bugera head through a 4X12 behringer cab with celestion v30 speakers, and I can't get past 2 on volume without getting way too loud for being in a bedroom. This is the volume box I spoke about earlier

Well many people bash others who tout their knowledge of theory. But that really is the next step. Either find a good book or better yet a good instructor.
Is this one it? I saw a green one similar but it looks like it's been discontinued.
You an /u/Lucca_dehookah seem to really like your looper. Maybe that's something I look in to. The thought never crossed my mind before.
I haven't tried as many as I probably should, but I've been comfortable with Dunlop Big Stubby 2.0mm.

Use this if you don't already have one
With my CA-20, it listens to the tone, picks it's closest note, and tells you how far away you are from it. It's extremely sensitive and it always provides a good tune.
Side note, you can de-tune at will too by setting the A-440 reference point to a different frequency, which will change your overall tuning. I notice some artists record slightly downtuned.
I really like this one: http://www.amazon.com/Heavy-Metal-Rhythm-Guitar-Essential/dp/1910403245
Yeah, I was initially looking at the Ibanez RG7421 but I can't find them in stock anywhere. And thanks for the warning!

Which POD do you have? Since I've got an audio interface already I'd prefer not to get one with that. Do you have any experience with the POD 2.0?

Do you have any experience with Peavey Electronics Max Series 03608210 Max 115 Bass Combo Amplifiers? This is the one I'm looking at, and I really have no idea how to compare the two
I use 10-52's for Drop C#, so just a half stop down the rest of the strings.
If you're tuning do D Standard, check these out. I'm ordering a few pair this week to try out for Drop B.
