Hello! My name is Josh and I run Scrapyard Films! My Mixer channel is: https://www.mixer.com/ScrapyardFilms

-------------------------------------------------------------
Growing rapidly on YouTube for my tutorial videos, I decided to throw in some of my passion of gaming as well. I make some Let's Plays in the style of Game Grumps and am doing my best to part time stream.

I'm big on quality and use my Lumix G7 DSLR as my webcam and have a Shure SM58 XLR mic as my primary voice input. I use Streamlabs for the awesome themes and I use Reastream to broadcast across Mixer, Twitch, and YouTube Gaming. I have bots telling everyone to head to my Mixer page because my goal is to grow on Mixer and eventually make some $ streaming.

-------------------------------------------------
I primarily play co-op story games with the occasional League of Legends or Monster Hunter thrown in. I'm going to be heavily streaming the new Far Cry game soon and then going to dabble in PUBG.

I try to make my streams as interactive as possible and communicate often. I appreciate every single one of my viewers and would love to network with some other Mixer streamers too! I'm all for hosting each other and gaming together so let me know!

OK your best bet is to Buy a separate microphone, a mixer and headphones.

Gaming anything is just marketing you will end up paying a premium for something that you really don't need.

For first timers I would recommend a cheap XLR microphone into a cheap mixer. DO NOT GO WITH USB MICS or USB AUDIO INTERFACE.

If you buy a USB device that uses a regular windows generic driver. windows will muddle your audio. This is commonly known by advanced users.

Instead plug in your mic using your mixer to your mic jack on the back of your motherboard.

Here are some affordable but great mic/mixer combo you can even maybe get them on eBay for Hella cheap.

Okay then here is my recommendation from what I was looking around at. I currently have an Arctis 7 wireless headset which I would recommend.. Super comfortable and includes a lot of stuff. You should be able to connect the wireless headphone transmitter to your computer. and then connect the aux cable into your xbox controller. This will enable you to have the game and audio chat settings on your computer. If you go in and disable the game audio settings you can have discord audio in the audio slider and the xbox on the game slider and both should be able to use the mic. If not I would recommend getting a either a Blue snowball or Blue Yeti mic as they aren't crazy expensive and they work amazing for stream quality. Here is a link to the headset.. ( https://www.amazon.com/SteelSeries-Lossless-Wireless-Headset-Headphone/dp/B07FZVXS8H?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1) if you want to dm me and get in a discord I can kind of show you my set-up and how I think it would all work and help you set it up too!

Currently on Amazon (UK)The LGX2 is £130

The closest competitor (Elgato HD60/HD60S) Wont support 4k passthrough (so a splitter would be required etc) and range from £160-£190

If you want to look at output quality, please feel free to check my live streams (mixer.com/law3)
I play in 4K / 60fps, and stream in 1080p / 60fps

I got this mount for my webcam on amazon that comes with a ring light attached. It has great control of lighting. I think it works very well, and gets the camera at a right height. You can checkout how the lighting looks on my channel DonShaun. https://www.amazon.com/Light-Webcam-Mount-Stand-Logitech/dp/B07H3NRJ7H/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?keywords=webcam+camera+mount+with+light&qid=1573049205&sr=8-5

I'll be 100% honest with you. Unlike a $700-$900 desktop, a laptop in that range is going to be pretty weak. This Lenovo we found is probably as low as I would go. And even then, it's going to be a bandaid replacement for a real streaming PC.

Straight up, if you're looking to do that route, I would suggest saving up a little bit longer, and spend closer to the 1500 range, and get yourself a real good laptop.

Was looking into them, just the cost adds up, a friend or two always come for a brew day, then would each one need a mic as well?

If I get a condenser mic and mount it on a arm in the center ish could work? Something like this perhaps

u/Fit_And_Local · 1 pointr/mixer

Just a normal cam and not a green screen? I got this for £20 and it's fine. (There's probably a US version) No need to spend a load on a fancy camera unless you are very successful/rich!

The mic I started out with is a Yeti Snowball mic and it worked well. There is a mic bundle with arm and pop filter that I am going to be ordering in the next day or two that I will link so you can see as well. Something to consider with the mic aspect is software to help balance everything to your voice. I use VoiceMeeter for my needs and it works great but can be confusing when its first getting setup.

Generally speaking, the more software you use, the more things can mess up when trying to link them into OBS. I personally never recommend software mixers just as they have a nasty habit of screwing up when live.

One thing I can't stress enough when it comes to audio, don't go too cheap! Fundamentally, you do have to spend a little bit to get a setup that works. An entry level audio setup will still set you back around $100.

For entry setups I'd recommend looking at the Neewer kits on Amazon. They do need a phantom power source too, yet they're still better than using a basic headset mic. From there, with them being all XLR based, you can use essentially any usb mixer you want. Behringer have a huge range of these with USB output to hook them into PC, starting around $40 too.

I got 3 of these lights. 1 in front of me and one on the left and right of me.

Put this in between the XBOX and the TV. Setup OBS on your PC and you can stream absolutely anything that you would normally see on your TV.

I'm assuming you're streaming from the Xbox? You can use a USB Webcam with the Xbox natively, so you're fine there.

As far as a mic, I don't think you can use a USB Blue mic on Xbox. You can use a headset mic or anything with a 3.5mm connection with your controller. I BELIEVE you can also use this Turtle Beach microphone natively on the console, but I don't think just any old USB mic works
