If you need to use your own coffee, first you need to have a premium burr grinder, so that you will have the ability to produce nice creamy shots. To refill your Nespresso capsules, the grind size of the coffee is a super important factor to produce satisfactory results. The biggest change for third party refillable capsules is to maintain the pressure during the brewing. I will recommend you looking into those two products. A company called GEESTA also makes lids. I think they fit a little better than the ReCaps, but both seem to work well.

For best results, the key is to grind the coffee fine and match the type of coffee to the types of capsule you use. I’ve had pretty good results with most of the dark coffees I like using high intensity capsules.

I know, but typically I don’t pay a lot for things that I don’t really like that much, so I thought you’d be in the same vein. It wasn’t really as in a “you’re cheap”, it’s more as a “you would rather spend your money on other things” which isn’t a bad thing whatsoever!

Definitely get an OriginalLine though. I bought my Essenza Mini on Amazon with an Aeroccino for like $140 and it’s fantastic. There’s so many options for capsules on Amazon, if you don’t want to buy through Nespresso, Target/Walmart sell Peet’s in Nespresso capsules, and Trader Joe’s even has a very inexpensive pod that I actually like pretty well (their Lungos are $3.99 for 10).

Additionally, you could buy the refillable pods (link here ) if you or a family member has a specific kind of coffee that they rather enjoy. Plus, despite what people say about filling the capsules to be time consuming, I don’t think it’s all that bad.

If you use something like the Nespresso Inissia, and make a Lungo, it will be ready in about 40 seconds; so it would work for your schedule. By the way, the coffee in the Nespresso capsules are great; I wouldn't bother with alternative capsules.

Grind the coffee relatively fine. Do not pack it down. It works perfectly. The nespresso pods are slightly better, I think they mix in something with their coffee like freezedried coffee or something.

I also have the Essenza! I bought a set of these: Sweese Coffee Cups (6oz) They fit under the spout with the drip tray still attached.

They come in many combinations of colors or you can just pick one color. They are very sturdy mugs and hold about 6oz, so lungos will fit with room to spare. Also great if you want to make a latte. The aeroccino filled to the bottom line + 1 espresso shot fill the cup perfectly!

In case anyone else was wondering about this, the Mind Reader drawer fits the Essenza Mini Breville perfectly (it's totally flat on the drawer despite the curved sides) and holds 18 pods - you could definitely fit more if you put them sideways. It grips the countertop really well, too.

Doesn’t hold a ton but we like to have something attractive and small for the counter when we have guests. When we don’t it sits in a cupboard we can easily access.

I have never tried that variety (I didn't get my first Nespresso machine until 2015) but if it is comparable to Cafecito de Cuba, it must have been very good.

Give the Manuel Caffe Aroma Piu pods a try! They are significantly cheaper than Cafecito de Cuba (currently $25.99 for 50 pods) and I like them just as much, but much like Cafecito de Cuba, they only work as 25 ml "ristretto" shots. They do not taste good as 40 ml shots ....

I love it. Its gorgeous and came in a nice matte black box. It's larger than I expected it to be and more unique (IMO) than getting the travel mug or the Nespresso cups. I'm using it for the pods but I'll get this drawer and use the Bonbonnière to store little chocolates to enjoy with my espresso.

I haven't tried it out just yet, but check out the My-Cap on Amazon to refill existing pods you've used. It has pretty decent reviews.

I haven't tried them myself yet but they sell Starbucks by Nespresso capsules on Amazon. I've read they even smell like Starbucks coffee when they're brewed lol.

The best I have found is DIY capsules. You basically re-use old pods and put new foil caps on (to take use of the bar code). This allows you to put your own ground coffee in the pod.

One things I did, is use a pod from my favorite flavor of the VertuoLine (Since the barcodes are unique for each pod).

You can either do the entire DIY kit or you can just buy the foil caps by themselves.
