i am not sure if this is what you are looking for but i have this one, i like it but it is too bulky from time to time you add the cards and bills and well the device is not thin anymore, it is kinda like the bookbook but for the nexus 4 and there is another one, but i dont own it so i dont know if it is good or not but it is kinda like the s3 flip case but for the nexus 4 i guess, hope it helps

I got the iOttie "easy Flex car mount 2" a few days ago and it's been great. The regular iOttie was too bulky for my car windshield where I wouldn't be able to use my windshield visors. This one, though, is pretty thin and extremely solid. The easy Flex 2 has their "one touch lock" and is only a few dollars more than the regular easy Flex. Totally worth the price imo. Link:

Edit: sorry, mobile link.

Mediabridge has been working for me for at least a year now. A slight issue is the size since it would hit my diztronic case (it's smaller than the generic amazon one), but the plastic is soft and you can easily shave a little of it away with a knife or something. I removed the equivalent of a half grain of rice, so not a lot. I think it's definitely worth it because it's a high quality cable. It's thicker and the ends are protected nicely so it should last a long time (the cable I had to replace separated near the head after a year or so, so I needed a sturdier cable)

I purchased a few of these inexpensive Qi chargers from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00H7YP0YS/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I use them at the office, in my car, and on my night stand. They work REALLY well (They keep the N4 charged to 100% even after the battery fills) but for the one I use in my car it kept sliding off on bumpy roads or around sharp corners.

So I did what anyone with a CNC router would do, made my own solution! It works perfectly and looks great. I'm going to try a few other materials because the HDU foam is a little brittle and might crack under a little abuse, but the concept is sound. I went through downtown Baltimore this morning and my phone never budged.

I can obviously make more of these, so would anyone be interested in picking one up? I'm thinking of making a few out of hardwood plywood and perhaps some ABS plastic if I can find a few sheets of it thick enough.

EDIT: My case is a Ringke Slim, it doesn't affect charging.

PRODUCTION EDIT: I just ordered a big sheet of PVC plastic and bought a few lengths of oak lumber. These WILL be going into production! Watch this space for ordering info, questions, pricing, etc.

Checkout the iOttie Easy Flex 2. I was in the same shoe as you looking for something to be able to easily record (wanted to do time-lapse) and still be sleak.

This thing is simply awesome. It's such a small footprint, has great positioning options. As for the speed of placing your device and removing it? Holy crap, I tell my friends about it before they see it and they're still shocked when they finally see in person how stupid simple it is.

And yes, it works with the official dock (and can easily handle a whole range of devices).

u/lzzhang10 · 2 pointsr/nexus4

I 2nd this. I got a 1 inch long scratch on my screen the other day. Immediately bought a screen protector. After I applied it, I gave my phone to coworkers asking them to find the scratch. None was able to find it. This is due to the screen protector allows the light to refract and reflect on the layers of the additional silicon, and not the scratched glass itself.

In your case, having a screen protector will also prevent further cracking of the glass.

I suggest SGP, best screen protector I ever used. Best of all, it is Oleophobic, just like the original glass.

u/display_block · 2 pointsr/nexus4

Shucks :-( I was hoping I could get away with the bumper case and a set of screen protectors. Once I play with the phone naked for a bit, I'll probably order the Acase Superleggera Pro case.

I'll probably stick to franco then, unless I find another kernel more tailored to the N4. I'm already conditioned to be conservative with my battery usage, thanks to the GN.

Thanks for the help

The only legit Slimport I know of is this one. It's almost 3 times that of a MHL (since they don't work on our N4's) but there aren't too many manufacturers that make the Slimport. Trust me, i've looked around. Plus, it looks like Amazon restocked this model. It was sold out for awhile and people that had one, marked up the price to almost three to six times of the original.

http://www.amazon.com/SlimPort%C2%AE-SP1002-Connect-connector--Supports/dp/B009UZBLSG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1370465301&sr=8-1&keywords=Slimport

u/rwh99999 · 5 pointsr/nexus4

This. That particular item is currently marked as unavailable, but many apparently identical ones seem to be out there.

Worked perfectly whenever I've used it, although some apps won't display over an HDMI interface. Pretty sure that's a limitation of the app rather than the device, though.

u/uPaymeiFixit · 2 pointsr/nexus4

I did the same thing on my first replacement. This is the screen I ordered. Apparently you're supposed to take the cover from the old screen and put it over the notification light area on the new one. I really disliked the screen though. It seemed to crack much easier when I cracked it the second time, and it wouldn't recognize touches all the time. The second time, I ordered this screen. It doesn't come with any tools, but if you already have some you don't need any more. So far it's been better from what I can tell. There is a sticker that I think you're supposed to take off for the notification light, and I didn't realize it, so now my notification light is too dark (instead of too bright like yours and mine last time). So for future reference, or if you really want to fix it, that is the screen I would order.

As for returning the screen, I highly doubt you'll be able to do that, as the screen functions as intended; they just didn't make it obvious that you have to do something for the notification light area. You could try removing the screen and fixing it by putting something under it like a piece of black tape or something, but unless it really bothers you, I wouldn't risk breaking the screen again by trying to remove it.

I've been experimenting with this battery: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BTV1SCB

It's <2mm taller than the original battery. This battery is ~6mm less wide. With the battery protection board, it's about 4mm too tall (covers where the battery's ribbon cable is). I've been playing around with putting the protection board on its side, and adding wires to the protection board. It's still a super tight fit along portrait axis of the phone...but it still closes with the battery being just a little taller, and all the backplate contacts still make a connection.

To be super honest...a Nexus 6 is only $120ish nowadays...so I'm really thinking about abandoning this project altogether and getting a Nexus 6.

u/Kuklachev · 3 pointsr/nexus4

OK. So you can get the button switches online pretty cheaply (example):
http://www.amazon.com/Original-Button-Switch-Replacement-LG/dp/B00CMJQ7KO

You take the back cover off. Unscrew the thin black plastic cover from the motherboard and then change the switches. I've done this with my power button and it's working perfectly now.

u/Mr_R0LTZ · 1 pointr/nexus4

Sounds like water damage might be the problem, and if so then you'll have to replace the charging port flex cable dock connector ribbon (not sure if all of that is how you say it).

dock connector ribbon. This takes like a month to arrive, so you might want to buy from somewhere else.

Might also need some tools.

Hope that helps, cheers!

u/chunko · 4 pointsr/nexus4

It would be nice if they did. I went through a couple crappy poetic cases (one case, one bumper) both fell apart within weeks.

Then I found this http://www.amazon.com/BoxWave-Resolute-OA3-Nexus-Case/dp/B000LJWEGI/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

and have been really happy with it. Granted, it's only good if you like the beefy ballistic style case.

u/AlexWekell · 2 pointsr/nexus4

Buy a powergen charger, I own one and its amazing. USB does NOT charge the same AC. If you see USB under battery settings you're drawing a much more limited amount of power then versus AC (plugging in a PC vs plugging in a wall). The powergen outputs much more then needed for the nexus 4, although the nexus 4 will only draw as much as needed, and make sure to get a good USB cable this one: Check this out on AMZN:

Mediabridge Hi-Speed USB 2.0 - (6 Feet) - A-Male to Micro-B Cable
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004GF8TIK/ref=cm_sw_r_an_am_ap_am_us?ie=UTF8

Not all micro USB cables are made the same, most work well, but if you buy a 99¢ one, you're going to get what you paid for (some don't even allow AC charging).

Btw, don't worry about any power problems with high mAh chargers/AMP ones. If the nexus 4 suddenly took more power then needed, it would probably explode and that would be some pretty horrible design.

Edit: another good thing about this charger is that its universal and it will split the power amount! So if you plug in two devices it will simultaneously charge them both at AC power.

edit: yes the powergen charger is considered AC charging by the nexus 4 either single or with two devices (I use mine with either the cable that came with the nexus 4 or the one I linked to)

u/lhbtubajon · 1 pointr/nexus4

Perfect. I have this case and it has been fantastic. It's only $5 at Amazon, too.

u/DannyHeights · 1 pointr/nexus4

A few suggestions...

You can try installing an app called AirDroid through the Google Play Store online and accessing photos that way. Or you could try a slimport connector with a usb otg cable which allows you to hook into an HDTV and control your phone screen with a mouse. Good luck!

u/MagicMoon · 2 pointsr/nexus4

I've seen replacement backs on amazon for about 20 bucks and I don't think they're too hard to put on. Might be worth looking into.
*Edit: Here's a link to a replacement back on amazon. Reviews say it is pretty good and it should make your phone look new again.

u/Ericthefruitbat · 1 pointr/nexus4

Totally. You're not going to get a good looking minimalist bumper that will protect your phone from a drop on a hard surface. If you want drop protection look at something like this, I've had it since they came out and it's great.

www.amazon.com/dp/B00A06Z41E

u/DrDerpberg · 2 pointsr/nexus4

I have one of these. Pretty much bulletproof. Not compact by any means, though I'd say the extra-thick corners and hard shell make it one of the best cases I've ever seen for drops. It actually makes the buttons clickier too, which I find mind-boggling but is welcome.

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/nexus4

Thanks for the advice guys! Does anyone have a recommended replacement? I found a few on Amazon but they have both 5 and 1 star reviews.
I am split between this one:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HFMWZCC/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=AEQWZUC8629A0

And this one: http://www.amazon.com/Replace-DISPLAY-Screen-Digitizer-Optimus/dp/B00BIZMX38/ref=pd_cp_cps_1

Thanks a bunch!

> LG WCP-300

Thanks for this. I've been looking for a cheaper, well reviewed Qi charger. I wanted to save on shipping ( I'm a Northerner ) and this is what I found [(http://www.amazon.ca/Electronics-WCP-300-Wireless-Charging-Pad/dp/B00C6VP03I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1376053464&sr=8-1&keywords=LG+WCP-300)]

There's a replacement if you feel confident taking the phone apart. Can also find them from other sellers and also on eBay. I had to replace mine a while back due to it being unresponsive at times. It was pretty easy.

Ill probably replace my N4 if the new Nexus phones price is in line with the previous Nexus phones and keep this one as a backup.

u/Kichigai · 0 pointsr/nexus4

> As with all new phones, the lcd screen and touch components are integrated into the one unit, so the part is expensive.

The two may be fused together, but they aren't integrated. It is possible to replace one, but not the other, but given how much more trouble is involved and the additional opportunities for things to go wrong, it's not worth the time and aggravation, IMO.

>People will tell you to buy a new screen and fix it yourself. While this is reasonable advice, this isn't as easy as it once was a few years ago, and is VERY easy to mess up without the correct tools and method.

True, while it is possible to damage your phone in the process of repairing it (which is true of any kind of repair), repairing the Nexus 4 isn't that difficult (though it is a bit time consuming). I just replaced my screen/digitizer assembly about two weeks ago, and it's fifteen screws, a bunch of pogo pins, and a couple ribbon cables. If you're comfortable with working on tiny components with tools it's not impossible to do, though depending on your screen replacement it can be annoying (the ribbon cable for my screen kept wanting to unfold itself) but not too difficult. Certainly easier than the iPod Touch screen replacement I had attempted the previous month.

And as far as tools go, there are a lot of kits out there that include tools. This was the kit I purchased, and it had everything I needed in it (though you might want to opt for using your own screwdrivers as these tiny things can be uncomfortable to use after a while).

>Considering the price of a new screen unit, pay the little bit extra and just get a service centre to do the whole job [seriously, it's like an extra $20].

I had a repair place handle my first screen replacement and it actually costs, in my area, about twice what it costs to just buy the kit. Of course, I'm not saying don't have someone else do it, I'm just saying to make sure you get a quote from them before blindly agreeing to it.

u/LaunchGap · 1 pointr/nexus4

why do you need the metal frame(isn't it hard plastic)? did you dent it good? you can buy the LCD and digitiser in one unit. i got this one. do a google search about the proximity sensor failing after you replace the screen. you can prevent it from happening by doing something during the replacing process(don't know what). after i replaced my screen, the sensor didn't work, but it was too difficult to remove the screen again so i had to live with the sensor not working(complete hassle). also, my replacement screen didn't settle flush with the sides of the frame. i think the tape was a tad bit too thick. i used the tape all the tutorials recommended. it would be best if there was some liquid adhesive, but i don't know where to look for that.

u/the4ndy · 15 pointsr/nexus4

I highly recommend this one

It is the LG WCP-300, its tiny, works perfectly, and is one of the least expensive qi chargers out there. Came extra quick from Verizon Wirless online, I also hear you can buy them in store. They are sold by Verizon as the wireless charger for the LG Lucid, so this might help you help the dude at Verizon store find it (or similarly help you find it on the online store).

The link i provided is to the verizon site, but i had to enter my state and thus the link might not work properly, or you might have a different price or availability. If not here it is on amazon

u/Turboboxer · 1 pointr/nexus4

I have this one and I absolutely love it!

I have the Poetic Slim Case. The black one is only $4.50 right now on Amazon. Never used the Ringke but they look pretty similar to me.

u/Ixa · 1 pointr/nexus4

I bought this recently: (nexus 4 back)[ http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00FRBVMLS] well I stuck at this formatting thing on my phone...

$19.88 - comes with Pry tool and (shitty) torx screwdriver.

It took about 30 minutes to swap. I was being very very careful, but it was easy.

u/frenziedfemaIe · 1 pointr/nexus4

You need a slim port HDMI adapter, this one has been verified to work with the n4, but I am sure there are others.
http://www.amazon.com/SlimPort%C2%AE-SP1002-Connect-connector-Supports/dp/B009UZBLSG?tag=notebookscom-20

Don't know if your local electronic store sells them but lots on Amazon or EBay.

Edit: obviously they are marking these up just a bit... I had a look at the price.. Yikes! Try eBay maybe!

u/HideAndSeek · 1 pointr/nexus4

I've had the S-Line bulky flexible case, the Poetic bumper, the official Google bumper, and the Rinke Fusion (which is currently on the phone). I too have been pining for a slimmer case so I just ordered this off Amazon. Looked to be the thinnest case outside of a .3mm case on Ebay. I really wish someone would produce sticky corner protectors for the phone. Just enough to elevate the glass off of surfaces and provide minimal cushion when the phone is dropped.

u/CA719 · 3 pointsr/nexus4

I used the drops, they don't work, like at all.

I bought an oleophobic screen protector after seeing this guy recommend it

I agree with literally everything he says about it. It feels so damn smooth now, before my finger would drag a lot when swiping across the screen. It feels so sexy now.

Edit: I actually bought it from Amazon.
Back then I paid almost $18 for it and now it's not even $10, and you get 2 screen protectors in each pack! I would highly recommend this product.

u/c4g · 2 pointsr/nexus4

I got this one. Has worked great for me for the past few months.

u/staticaka · 5 pointsr/nexus4

I just use this It's cheap, lots of juice, and most importantly, it is light and slim. Doesn't make me feel like I'm carrying a brick.

u/GelatinousSlime · 3 pointsr/nexus4

You can get them at Amazon, even with Prime shipping.

Its a little tricky popping the N4's case off, but other than that its easy. Plenty of Youtube videos showing how to do it.

u/thek11 · 0 pointsr/nexus4

This one is fantastic. Smooth as glass and resists fingerprints.

u/snooze_sensei · 1 pointr/nexus4

I bought this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HFMWZCC/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 without any issues.

There is speculation about whether or not any of these replacement screens are Gorilla Glass or not. I personally use screen protectors anyway so that wasn't a concern to me.

Color quality is excellent as is touch response. The only (minor) issue is that there was no filter for the LED notification light, so that ended up being extremely bright.

I bought it from seller "Injured Gadgets", because that seller ships from the USA. The same item can also ship from China, so you have to check which seller you're getting it from if you want it sooner rather than later (and assuming you're in USA after all).

u/kumaboris · 3 pointsr/nexus4

But my favorite case is this one

Iconic Gaurdian. I have one for my nexus 4, and liked it so much that I bought one for my new S4.

u/georgefrs · 3 pointsr/nexus4

I have an Anker Astro Slim 2 which is pretty awesome... gives me an extra day or two of charge while on the go and it's almost exactly the same profile as the Nexus 4 so it fits behind it in a pocket without any hassle :)

u/innocent_bystander · 1 pointr/nexus4

Actually I JUST bought this one about a week ago. Took it on one run so far, successful. Tight fit so it's not going anywhere.

u/rhinojazz · 1 pointr/nexus4

I recently replaced my screen because of same problem. I used this assembly to replace it. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00HFMWZCC It was surprisingly easy.

I've changed mine a couple of weeks ago by following this guide. And this is the part you're gonna need (it contains the USB port, the mic and the notification LED).

u/Ham_Damnit · 1 pointr/nexus4

I have the Poetic Slim Hard Case and I would describe it as quite minimal.

u/SamX17 · 1 pointr/nexus4

I have this one:

http://www.amazon.com/Ionic-GUARDIAN-Armor-Google-Nexus/dp/B00A06Z41E/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

Adds some bulk to the phone, but I got it because of the cost and the fact that it is, in fact, a very sturdy case. No regrets thus far.

u/InfernoEffect · 2 pointsr/nexus4

I've been wondering about this issue myself. I did a quick google search and one thread on XDA said it might drain the battery a tad bit faster, but nothing too noticeable.

The big issue, however, is that once the screen goes off the NFC radio turns off. This means that if you turn your screen on and unlock your phone again, the tag will be read again. This might cause some issues depending on how you set up your NFC tags.

Also, fyi, there is an updated iOttie here. It doesn't have the bottom feet though if that's an issue for you.
