It depends on your preference. I love tempered glass but I went through a lot of screen protectors o find one that worked out well for the nexus 6 (the curved glass creates a problem)

I personally love the Jelly Comb it's been revised and fits on my device perfect. There's no "halo-effect" if you put it on right the first time but because I had to take mine off I did create one when re-applying it.

In terms of cases I bought a few and found that I like one that covers the whole phone and doesn't leave a cut-out for the motorola Logo.

I'm currently rocking a Rinke Max case and I love the way it shows off the nexus logo while still protecting it.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions. :)

These are my favorites.

Spigen bumper case, gunmetal grey one I bought but others. I'm a huge fan of the nexus back so the clear really is cool. Just minimal protection tho, I wouldn't get crazy with it.

Unicorn beetle case, very very good protection, very study. Pain to get off tho imo if you like to switch a lot like me but still a great case. Few to choose from.

I'm not one of those people who go caseless. It needs a case at all times.. So I go with clear if possible because I love seeing the nexus lettering.

Go ahead and pull the trigger on the 32gb one. If you are really in need of more on hand non cloud based storage, check this OTG option out. Works great with my N6 and the size of it is amazing:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00IRUS7KU/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1421337422&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX200_QL40&dpPl=1&dpID=316oRMF-kXL&ref=plSrch

Use it with an app like ES File Explorer and you'll be fine.

u/BluePowerade · 1 pointr/nexus6

I've always used this one. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I58VAZS?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

Great mount, never fallen off of my windshield even when used for 700 miles trips. I travel quite a bit to see family and friends (2-11.5 hours drives) every month roughly and it has held up great. Shamu is the best GPS ive ever owned.

Shoutout to the app waze for saving my ass many a time as well.

u/Dude_RN · 5 pointsr/nexus6

I am currently using a white Ringke Slim but I don't have that many drops so it's more of a low level drop and prevent scratch /gunk case.
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00O152TZY/ref=twister_B00R6TJ6C6?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

If she is dropping it often then she probably needs some kind of "double layered" case, where its like a rubber case inside a plastic / metal frame.
I like this case as a "fuller coverage" case. But it does add thickness.

And for fun these look nice and have good reviews.

That one looks sweet. I've been using the Koomus mount, which is similar, but doesn't have the same portability and multifunctionality as the Airframe. But it's working great for my needs.

If you live down south or closer to the equator in general, air vent mounts are clutch. Keeps your phone nice and cool while you have it hooked up to the quick-charger.

> "What will it cost? A flagship price is all but guaranteed"

In 2015 I paid $400 for a new Nexus 6.

Before too long I'll need a replacement that will work on Project Fi, and I think that over $600 for a phone is unreasonable, especially with so much competition and how rapidly new models come out.

I have a Nexus 6, Nexus 5x, and a Galaxy S8. As much as I love my nexus 6, I would no longer recommend it for most folks due to the lack of official updates. Its definitely got a enthusiastic following in the developer community, if you are willing to put custom ROMs on it. Since it's going for $180 on swappa, I would instead recommend a G5 Plus which is currently on sale NEW for $200. That should definitely hold you off until a new Pixel is released.

Edit: buy the one without ads if you want a unlocked bootloader (e.g. root, custom ROMs).

The Nexus 6 is already compatible with Qi charging. Find a nice one on Amazon or wherever and you will be good.

I have used, and recommend Tylt chargers. They have 3 coils, instead of 1 so it is easier to place the device and be connected. But any Qi charger will work.

This has been on my bedside table, work desk and home office desk (I have 3 of them) for years

My Ringke had a tiny protusion, and it nicked my Nexus :(

but I sold my nexus for more than it cost (but less than I paid if you include tax so I didnt really 'profit') when I switched to n4 so its all good at the end I suppose....

I bought http://www.amazon.com/CellBee%C2%AE-GlowSpirit-Transparent-Shockproof-Colorful/dp/B00P1F0ATK/ and it looked pretty nice, but didnt have the chance to use before I sold it

u/RustyKnives · 1 pointr/nexus6

I don't have a car one, but I use this charger:
http://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Charger-Spigen%C2%AE-Charging-Premium/dp/B00UGIA0WY/

and this case:
http://www.amazon.com/i-Blason-Cell-Phone-Nexus-Google/dp/B00OGXQ3LC/

The wireless charging works great. Some of the pads I used in the past you have to position just right for it to work. However with this one I am using now, I just set it on there and it works. The phone does get pretty hot, but it charges fine. Keep in mind that it is slower than charging via cable.

You do need to use a 2A charger brick with it though. It needs that extra power.

u/mccarseat · 1 pointr/nexus6

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NWMI07S?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00

I have this one, not the cheapest and not the most expensive and works great for charging. Only problem I have is the charging LED is crazy bright so I put a piece of tape over it so at night when I'm charging my phone it doesn't act like a night light lol. Does NOT come with a wallplug, just a cable.

The sweet spot is slightly offset for the phone but again, it works great.

u/Krystom · 1 pointr/nexus6

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0051R4ECM/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Expensive and instructions are in Japanese, but it is the best charger I've used. You can place your phone anywhere on the matt and in any orientation and it will find the "sweet spot" and charge. It is the first truly drop and go wireless charger I've used!

Also charges through my ringke fusion case.

I had the Choe Stadium and even with its 3 coils I still had to fiddle with the phone placement to find the "sweet spot". It also died on me after a week and a half.

u/fuzzy761210 · 1 pointr/nexus6

Koomus Air Vent

I used this but I flip it upside down (bump faces down) this gives me perfect support for the phone. I attached some thin foam with double sided tape on the bump where it touches the dash. I use this in landscape mode for when I am using navigation.

I bought it to use on my old Galaxy S3, it opens big enough for the N6 with a case on it.

u/boomerangotan · 1 pointr/nexus6

I got this charger for my Nexus 4, which has a nifty feature that the charger has an internal motor that auto-aligns with the charging element in your phone. Tried it out today and works great with the N6 as well!

u/smokeymcpot69 · 1 pointr/nexus6

FYI, if a major concern is external storage, you can always pick up something like this.. I just got one and it works well. There are also wifi flash drives, which you can leave in your pocket or back and stream from over a built in wifi.

I decided to go with the nexus now as opposed to waiting because it is a nexus, and at this point 64-bit is still new. The 6 will always be able to get google updates, and by the time my upgrade is due, 32-bit will be starting to be phased out which should be good timing for me.

u/PhantomTaco · 1 pointr/nexus6

Just watched your first two videos and they're very informative, thank you for that. The Ringke slim does look very good, though I personally like the design of the Spigen link more for that category.

I'm really glad you reviewed the Casebase as I had it bookmarked and was considering it, but after seeing your video regarding the problems with the folio itself getting in the way for taking photos and the flimsiness of the top part I'm not as interested in it. Honestly this was why I liked my G3 so much, the folio case that you could get from LG has that circular cutout in the front for the clock quick widget, but at the same time it made it so when you flipped it over and took a photo the camera lens was in that hole with no obstructions.

u/dynamo147 · 2 pointsr/nexus6

Yes I did this one right here

TaoTronics Car Windshield / Dashboard Universal smart phone mount Holder, car cradle for iPhone / Android https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MXWFUQC/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_z.oQwb5GHQRBX

See the second picture? See the top left photo in the second picture? That's how I use the mount, however I have mine in a position where a corner of my phone rests against that 'hump' that houses the instrument panel because the phone and case together are heavy but all things considered I've had no problems what's so ever with this set up, phone never falls out, its a bit of a tight squeeze but I like it better that way, also the mount only holds like half of the phone in landscape while the other portion is on the hump, this keeps the volume and power buttons from being pressed, will try to get a picture to ya

I bought one like this Turbot model off Amazon earlier this year that works like a charm and doesn't heat up the phone. (The company that made mine was called Archeer, for what that's worth.) Works with the N6 in a wallet case, too.

u/abd1tus · 2 pointsr/nexus6

I'm pretty happy with the RAVPower. It's only $24.99, about the same size as the Nexus 6, so it looks like it was designed for it, and has no problem charging through my Spien thin fit case.

Edit: desktop sites

u/dcormier · 1 pointr/nexus6

I've been pretty happy with this, so far.

u/n80k · 1 pointr/nexus6

I love my spigen thin fit http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00OH4HLJ8. It adds very little bulk. However I'm starting to get paranoid about its lack of coverage on the top and bottom sides so I ordered this cell bee case yesterday http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00P1F0ATK . It has a hard clear back with tpu sides that looks very slim and it has nothing lower than 5 star reviews

Bought this case, crystal clear so I can still see the back of my N6, its slim and fits perfect - doesn't add weight or bulkiness.

u/LaGrrrande · 1 pointr/nexus6

Several of us had the same idea to go with a Spigen Ultra Hybrid because it has a clear back so that we can show off that sexy dbrand carbon fiber skin.

u/ricktroxell · 1 pointr/nexus6

haven't tried that one. I bought this on a friends recommendation.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NWMI07S/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

On a side note, whats the real difference between this and the 3 coil version aside from the extra coil. If I can solve this charging problem I will keep this phone for another year. I love it.

u/Uidiotsannoyme · 1 pointr/nexus6

It is in good shape, heavy duty i-Blason and a tempered glass screen protector the day I activated it two years ago, just not jazzed about doing my own battery replaccement, I was hoping to get ~$125 for it.

u/Montalbert_scott · 1 pointr/nexus6

Motorola support have no idea when they will be ready. They need to undergo more certification for Australia apparently.
Funnily enough the turbo charger is on the play store for Aussies but not available yet.

I'm trying to decide if I want to get this one as well. Anybody try both yet. Which is thinner?

u/Speedstr · 1 pointr/nexus6

I've been looking on Amazon, and finally decided on a case, the i-Blason Armorbox It looks like a knock-off of the Otterbox, but with a screen protector. I'm excited about it. The only thing is I have to wait till November 25th to ship out.

This thing has protected so many drops from 3+ feet onto concrete, tarmac and tile, that I just take for granted my Nexus 6 will never break from a fall or even moderate throw.

u/garagelogician · 1 pointr/nexus6

I'm going to go naked most of the time, but I did pick up a custom sleeve off Etsy to protect it while in my pocket (sometimes I accidentally throw in my keys or tools in my phone pocket): https://www.etsy.com/listing/207297847/google-nexus-6-organic-leather

I also picked up a couple heavy cases for when I'm going to be working outside, these will have to get me by until hopefully Lifeproof comes out with a Frē case.

You could get a regular cheap mount and combine it with an OtterBox or other tough case. Normally I wouldn't go for the tough cases since they add a ton of bulk, but you can never be too careful when on a bike. I've been in many accidents, and in at least one I busted my watch. And a Nexus is a lot more expensinve than a watch (at least the kind I buy, no Rolexes for me).

Here's a cheap mount I found on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/GreatShield-Clip-Grip-Handlebar-iPhones-smartphones/dp/B00FA892IS/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1426958508&sr=8-2&keywords=bicycle+mount+for+smartphone

or this one:

http://www.amazon.com/Aduro-Universal-Samsung-Motorola-Revolution/dp/B00R6RSCV4/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1426959064&sr=8-6&keywords=bicycle+mount+for+smartphone

You could use any mount really, but those are just the most appealing I found on Amazon.

And if you use a tough case you should be able to find one that is waterproof as well.

Here are some options: (albeit not waterproof, but they have front built in screen protectors which should help with minor water)

http://www.amazon.com/SUPCASE-Full-body-Protective-Protector-Resistant/dp/B00OHFGMGU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1426959665&sr=8-1&keywords=otterbox+nexus+6

At least that's what I'd do if I were looking for a bike mount.

I just got my case for my (now activated) Nexus 6. i-Blason Basically I was looking for strong protection with a kickstand. After reading a ton of reviews I pulled the trigger. Now that it's in hand I regret nothing. Strong build dual layers. I don't use the third layer belt clip holster, it mainly goes from pocket to desk/nightstand. Not bulky, good grip, feels sturdy.

u/BagelDave · 1 pointr/nexus6

I use this mount with my Nexus 6 with the same case that you have, and it works well.

For power, I use this fast charger which always keeps me at 100% in the car.

u/ImNotYourFckinBro · 2 pointsr/nexus6

You'll be fine. You'll need a nano sim. If you have an older phone with a micro, you'll need to cut it down (or use a tool like this). Either way, turn off your old phone, take out the sim. Pop it in your Nexus 6 and it will activate. I've had mine for a few weeks now with no issues (in terms of service or plan).

u/the_life_is_good · 2 pointsr/nexus6

right, so im looking at this one right here. Its either this one or the moko one since i need to have a belt holster type deal since i sit in really tight desks at school, and being a big guy i am prone to hitting the phone on the underside of the desks when it is in my pocket.

u/rayfound · 1 pointr/nexus6

Nope. Nano Sim, instead of micro. Basically you cut away almost all of the plastic. You can get a Sim cutter on amazon for $7 or so.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B009P16FKY

u/DripDropDrippin · 0 pointsr/nexus6

Not sure. If not, $7.88 gets you a cutter on Amazon.

I know you said you're not keen on doing it yourself but with the cutter, it's very simple.

u/LowHz · 2 pointsr/nexus6

I ordered the Rinke MAX which doesn't look too bad in my opinion. I think it will offer some decent protection. It should be shipping today or tomorrow. Here's a link.

I was really hoping Lifeproof was going to make a case for it but I'm a bit doubtful that's gonna happen.

u/mickeyb1ueeyes · 1 pointr/nexus6

I bought two Spigen cases on Amazon last night, and they should be delievered on Nov 19 -- the same day as my N6 from Moto.

One is a substantial case; big and thick enough to match to substantial cost of the N6. One is thin and clear to avoid making this behemoth unnecessarily larger.

I'm not sure the route I want to go yet. I may return my least favorite of the two, or keep both for different use cases. The price was right from Spigen via Amazon. (Sadly, their eBay store is only doing pre-orders for these same cases.)

u/jashsu · 2 pointsr/nexus6

If ease of placement is critical, can't beat the Panasonic Qi charger.

http://smile.amazon.com/Panasonic-QE-TM101-K-Black-Wireless-Charger/dp/B0051R4ECM/

Main downsides are no trickle charge functionality and some people have had the moving internal mechanism break over time.

u/rub1k · 1 pointr/nexus6

"Different models of nano SIMs"... <- That's gotta be BS... right? They just obviously didn't want to give you one... (duh) EDIT: I stand corrected!

Not free but this (or any other similar SIM cutter) would also work:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009P16FKY

Also, don't cell phone stores have SIM cutters too? Can you borrow one for 5 seconds? /shrug

u/I3ULLETSTORM1 · 1 pointr/nexus6

I have this one. I personally despise cases so I have nothing to say whether or not it works with a case.

u/danlo315 · 1 pointr/nexus6

I'm using the Spigen air cushioned bumper:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OH4IBDS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

$12 on Amazon. It's very slim and form fitting. The one problem I have is if you get some water on the screen, it'll sometimes leak into the back and you'll have to take the phone out of the case to wipe them down.

u/JackONeal324 · 1 pointr/nexus6

Im rocking a spigen case and the protective film that my Nexus had out of the box. I know it's not the most attractive look with the little white spot in the corner but I have been lazy on replacing it with a real screen protector. I guess I will find one and order it now that I have guilted myself into it.

u/inverimus · 3 pointsr/nexus6

I have this case and don't have any problems with NFC.
