It's been a long time since I looked at this external drive, so I opened it up to confirm. My mistake, this is a Seagate 320GB drive. It is installed in a cheap Anker USB enclosure. I recall formatting this with the Nexus Player and it works flawlessly. I plugged it into a Windows computer and it shows that the format is FAT32. Hope this helps!

I've got a Logitech wireless keyboard/mouse with one of their universal dongles in one of the powered ports, a Logitech F710 wireless dongle in the other powered port, and then the Ethernet adapter plugged in the other. (note, I'm not actually using the ethernet adapter right now, since I found I didn't actually need it, but it works). I've also plugged in a wired XBox 360 controller in and that worked too.

I have a super micro USB otg adapter, it plugs into micro USB and then you slide it into a USB male connector, turning it into a normal USB port basically here's the link
And I use a USB hub similar to this one, Ethernet and 3 ports, should handle keyboard and usb fine, higher powered accessories may need more power, but I've been fine using controllers, keyboards etc
Just reread your post I'm sorry I didn't realize what you meant, as for something for external drives, generally external drives will be external powered, if not it'll be powered through usb you will need a powered USB hub, no way around it, ones that are powered through usb use one is for data and another USB for power
I like mine and have had no problems. It does feel a little cheap and the click is a little loud though.
However this gets a lot of usuage and im wondering what would be a cheap replacement if this were to break down the road? And i would hate to lose voice search, use it all the time.
I wish the np was a hit so getting replacement remotes would be easy.
Edit: anyone know if this works with voice search with the np?

I purchased this Ethernet adapter. It has worked on my Nexus 5 and Nexus Player. No idea about the compatibility of your linked product you purchased.
Sure no problem, this is what I've been using for ~2 years now.
The Fire remote is a decent replacement. I tried to get my remote replaced. There is no way to simply order one, which I tried by contacting Google first, who then sent me to Asus for warranty replacement. In my case, the remote stopped working, and ASUS wanted me to mail in the remote, wait 6 to 8 weeks yada yada, when all I wanted was to BUY another damn remote. Anyway, i said eff it and bought the fire remote on amazon.
If you have an android phone/tablet, there is also an app for Android TV that works very nicely. I just prefer the tactile feel of an actual remote, personally.
