If you're making a request for someone in your area, it generally helps to say what area you're in.

Some tips on how to get started:

  1. First - nail the fundamentals of photography. Learn about exposure, light, and composition, basic post-processing. You don't need a model to learn that, and if you try to shoot a model without really knowing that stuff you'll waste time and money. Practice on objects, practice by doing self portraiture, practice on a friend (they don't need to be nude).
  2. Have some idea of what it is you like and you're trying to accomplish. Go to museums. Study the masters. Buy some photo books full of art that you like in a style you might want to mimic, and look at the photos critically (a personal favorite. Or if you're looking for something with true nudist flavor.). Flickr/Instagram can be good resources as well. Look at the photos and ask what's going on with the lighting? Where was the photographer standing and what lens might they have been using? What would I say to a model to tell her to do this pose?
  3. Find a workshop or shootout in your area - search meetup or eventbrite. They're usually run as group shoots (multiple photographers shooting a model at once). These vary in quality (to say the least), but if you find a good one you'll learn a lot and get some shots to start a portfolio with. The worst ones are just a dozen guys snapping away at a hot naked girl. But the best ones will have organizers that can teach about lighting and posing and give you some opportunity to experiment and try things, and are really worthwhile.
  4. Hire a model yourself. As in, be prepared to pay them money for their time, talent and skill. An experienced model is worth their weight in gold if you're new at this. They'll know poses, they'll know angles, they'll bring their own ideas to the table and you'll learn a lot from them in the process. Friends and models willing to work for free are amateurs. If you yourself are an amateur as well, you'll just get amateur results. Once you're really experienced to the point that you can comfortably guide and post a model who has no idea what they're doing, then you can try pinching pennies on amateurs. Though honestly even then, the professionals are still worth it.

When you talk to a model, be able to articulate a rough vision for the kinds of shots you're hoping to get. There are sub-genres of nude photography - nude in nature, figure lighting, erotica, boudoir/glamour, nude portraiture, etc. Stay within the bounds of whatever style the model agreed to.

Some other things that I shouldn't have to say but will anyway. Don't touch the model. If the model says she's uncomfortable with something, don't ask her to do it again. Don't ask the model out, don't ask her for sex. Keep your clothes on when you're working with her. Do not, under any circumstances, take a photo of someone without their consent, especially if they're nude. Do not put that photo online in any way without the consent of the subject, especially if they're nude.

I think nudist photography is a particularly difficult genre to do well, and probably isn't where you want to start out for that reason. It's actually closer to candid portraiture than art nudes - you might want to practice by taking photos at parties if you hope to one day shoot nudists. The ideal nudist photograph should have a storytelling quality to it - it should be a portrait of the subject and give a sense of who they are. It should give a sense about nudism itself, both what it is to the subject and just the lifestyle more generally. For that it needs context, either in the form of a story around the photo or within the photo itself.

    Good luck.

> There are several available on Amazon.

Bought this one for my guy a few years ago. Several of the reviews suggest the book went into more detail than the reviewer was comfortable with -- which is exactly what appealed to me.

Had him read it privately, then gave him an opportunity to ask any questions -- "anything goes, no question is stupid." He had a few. Went well for us.

Covers all of the "boy material" you'd expect, but also hit basic "girl material," safe sex, abortion, same-sex relationships, etc. I'm comfortable with, and wanted him to learn about, those topics. If you're comfortable with all that as well, I recommend this book.

Awesome report thanks for sharing. As an experienced clothes free camper I advise you invest in a self inflating sleeping pad . Will make your clothes free sleep much more restful next time you go camping.

The only real solutions are (as already mentioned) a bag/sack and to pack lighter. I think we are used to carrying more stuff than we really need most of the time. for the beach, I usually use one of those drawstring light knapsacks. I'm also trying to make/find a light bag out of either linen or jute string (knit on a round loom). I want them to be light and breathable just to give me more carrying capacity.

Women have to deal with this problem a lot since a lot of their clothes don't have pockets, even pants sometimes. That's why it's more popular to carry purses for them I think than for men to have "man-bags".

I think the key, though, to not be too cumbersome is to think about the purpose of the bag. If it's really just to replace your pockets, then the volume of it doesn't actually need to be that large (unless you are used to wearing cargo pants with tons of pockets or something.) So I think a smaller bag would be less of a burden. Perhaps it makes sense to think of the function of the bag as well. Rather than put your wallet in a bag, maybe a bag that has a small pocket for wallet stuff (id, bills, etc.) is more appropriate.

It sounds like there may be an opportunity to create the perfect nudist carrying bags and market them. There are bags like this (though it seems too big to me) that you can wear across your body either in front or back. Here's a pic of it being worn:

Incidentally, I don't know about other resorts, but at Cypress Cove in Kissimmee Florida, they have RFID wristbands that get you in and out of your room and let you make purchases at the poolside bar/grill and the lobby convenience store. It's great because you don't need your wallet or any money while you are there.

Oh, and for phones, if you just need to stay in contact, In know that some of the Android wear watches have their own SIM card and can be used as a voice and text device without your phone being nearby at all. Not sure about the Apple watch in that respect. But maybe that's part of the answer too. Technology might make it less necessary to carry as many things in the future.

Jealous of anyone who has absolute privacy in their backyard, deck or pool.

I'm in the suburbs with a 2nd story back deck and while there are many trees / large bushes giving partial privacy, it isn't completely 100% since some of my neighbor's homes have an eye-level view onto the deck from certain parts of their home. My backyard is almost private enough to be completely nude due to all the trees/bushes; maybe at night if there were no lights on but that does me no good (we don't have a pool or hot tub). I live in the Southeast so casual and social nudity, even sunbathing, is shunned and viewed as being wrong (or worse).

I have 5 of these privacy dividers for use on my back deck which I bought off of amazon. They work great except when it is windy since they only weigh 12-15lbs each so they can blow over easily. The privacy screens which only cover the bottom of the railing (like these ) don't work well because the neighbors homes are 3 levels so they can see directly onto the back deck from certain vantage points. The only way to create complete privacy on the back deck would be to build something like the below (either hard structure or outdoor curtains) to attach to the deck. I don't want to do either b/c then I've created a 'boxed in' deck.

edit: some other ideas via a google image search for privacy deck ideas.

The only other official resort in Idaho is Sun Meadow in Worley, 260 miles from Boise. Oregon has a few, but I don't know if any are in the Eastern half, so it depends on how far you're willing to drive. Utah has none, haven't heard of any in Nevada. Don't know about the other neighboring states.

Idaho's big advantage is the hot springs. It's known for having some of the best hot springs in the country, and many of them are traditionally clothing optional. The trick is that none of them, to my knowledge, are officially clothing optional, so it takes familiarity and experience to know which ones are nude-friendly in practice and which are not. I have two books, Hiking Hot Springs in the Pacific Northwest and Hot Springs and Hot Pools of the Northwest, that have extensive information on the whole region, including notes on the trend of clothed vs nude at each one, but I take that with a grain of salt given that it's been a few years since the most recent editions. I can't advise on any of the Idaho springs, since I've really only gone to one in Oregon. It's closer than any of the Idaho springs, but it's a mixed bag at best when it comes to nudity.

> Look I mean no offense to you but I am sick of hearing religion should die/is the bane of all good so here is your rant/trigger warning.

Agreed that it doesn't sound particularly welcoming, but I also agree that over the course of human history religion has been responsible for many of mankind's ills. At least the leaders of the major religions.

Moreover, an ethical life can be achieved through reason without resorting to myth and coercion. Just ask Thomas Paine . This would also benefit nudism by removing unfounded fears so that we all could enjoy it freely. You wouldn't need articles claiming that "OOPS! We didn't mean to offend!" Why would anyone assume offense in the first place?

There are classes in hospitality and resort management. If your parents are serious they and/or you should be taking them. Community colleges and even four year colleges offer degrees in this sort of thing.
Campgrounds are a huge industry. There are professional organizations dedicated to it. Find out about them and join.

You MIGHT have luck contacting Stéphane Deschênes of Bare Oaks. He runs a first-class place.

Read this book. (And several of the others on that page.)

You are dipping your toe into a deep career field. Good luck.

This is the one I have. I'm not sure its much better than the tin ones, but i let my friends vote between a few, and this one was the winner.

That's cool - I totally support reading what you like! I did write some stuff involving non-sexual public nudity, but it doesn't stay that way so I'm not going to post it here.

I did however also publish a book on "nudism for the interested beginner" - it might not be at the level you're looking for but I think it's a good beginner's guide to naturism.

u/NuEtHeureux · 2 pointsr/nudism

It's a great question. However, I'm not aware of such a list, including trails with sign post warning about nude hikers. My experience is that most long trails can be walked naked, as long you have a sarong or a quick cover up, or you are walking in a group. I recommend the reading of Naked Hiking by Richard Foley (https://www.amazon.com/Naked-Hiking-Richard-Foley/dp/0957243227/ref=sr_1_2), where you can get more advice about the best way to hike. My 2 cents, not really answering your question ;-)

Kimono bathrobes are a pretty great compromise.

I have something similar to this and would recommend it.

Thermacell: https://www.thermacell.com/

Pricy, but so very worth it.

Just make sure the breeze is less than 4MPH or so.

You can even get a holster, and strap it to your gear when hiking.

Either that, or Repellent with Picardin: https://www.amazon.com/Sawyer-Products-SP564-Repellent-Picaridin/dp/B00VV5KRD8/

It has nowhere near the smell DEET does, so it's a useful item.

Use both for best results.

1.) Last I recall paying, it was $6. But haven't been there since last fall so it may have changed.

2.) The nearest Goodwill is about 34 minutes away. Thrift stores are not widely available given the demographic. It seems like there are more Ferraris than Fords on Collins Ave. Miami Beach is where the rich folk show off (it's also the first and last time I paid $9 for a hot dog!) so thrift stores are few and far in between.

What I'd recommend buying is a chair/umbrella combo. For $27, you can have one shipped to your door in 2 days via Amazon Prime

Matthew an author, nudism advocate, and the moderator of the nudism subreddit. His book How to Take Your Clothes Off: A Guide to Nudism for the Interested Beginner is available on Amazon for $3.99 (and I highly recommend it). Aside from his book, we talked about: how he got into moderating the nudism subreddit; the future of nudism; the importance of joining local and national organizations (even if you don’t attend their events); updating the narrative and presentation of modern-day clothes-freedom; women in nudism; and vulnerability.
