tl;dr: It's great. There's no iTunes. It's huge. There's tons of customization, but only if you want. Gestures are super cool. Better speakers. LTE.

I just switched from an iPhone 4 to the OPO around New Years. I, too, had been an iOS user for many years and found my iPhone couldn't keep up with the world around it. You and I have had very similar experiences, so I hope this helps.

Incoming Wall of Text (I hope it's useful!):

First things first: If you use iMessage, you will have a problem with Apple hijacking your friends' text messages with iMessage. Before you turn off your iPhone, turn off the Use iMessage setting. Apple has released a tool that will deregister your phone number from iMessage, though it took several days for it to actually work for me. But it eventually did, and everything's fine now.

You'll have some other things to get used to, as well. For one, there's no more iTunes. That's been the biggest change for me. For better or worse, I'm pretty brainwashed when it comes to using iTunes. Now I add my music as I would to a folder, though there may be an iTunes-like alternative.

If you want to emulate your iOS experience, you can, but you'll need other apps and software. For instance, iMessage can be pretty well emulated with Airdroid. I didn't have Siri on my iPhone, but I think the 4s did. If you're used to Siri, you'll find that Google Now is similar, but not quite the same.

Next, the phone is huge. It dwarfs the iPhone 4. This was my biggest concern when I ordered the OPO and it took me several days to truly feel comfortable holding it with one hand. The phone itself is pretty friendly to hold. I got a case for mine which has added a bit of heft to it and takes away some of the phone's elegance.

If you haven't used Android before, it may take a little time to get used to. And if you get into custom ROMs it can be a bit overwhelming at first, depending on your level of computer knowledge. It's all very cool, though. If you're a tinkerer, like me, you'll have tons of things you can play with. If you're not, the stock setup is great, too.

Widgets are weird to get used to. They totally messed with what I was used to in the iOS world and they've altered the way I set up my screens. I use a different launcher, called Nova Launcher, that lets you resize the widgets a bit more than the default launcher. I'd recommend it to you if you want to keep your screen looking elegant.

As others have said, gestures are great. Double tap to turn the screen on, two finger swipe down to play or pause music, arrows left and right for previous and next song. You can draw a V on the screen to turn on the flashlight, but I turned it off because I found myself doing it by accident.

As for the phone itself, it's phenomenal. It's very snappy, it sports a 1080p screen, and has much better speakers. Finally, LTE is way better than 3G.

Overall, I'm very happy with the OPO.

Thanks for a very kind user from this subreddit, I've been liberated from my old cracked cellphone :). I received my phone no later than a week (business days) after it was processed; placed the order on the 18th, received it earlier today (27th).

I ordered the Tudia Slim-Fit Dual Layer case along with a Nillkin 9H tempered glass for my OPO, and both of them feel great; couldn't be happier with my purchase. Some people have said the Tudia case is a bit tough to take off the phone, but that isn't the case for me. The Nillkin screen protector feels very nice. I've never had a tempered glass screen protector; so I can't really compare it to anything other than that it feels 1000x better than a film screen protector. I'll admit, I wanted to put a film protector over my Nillkin for more protection, but I'm pretty confident that my screen will stay safe regardless with these two products.

The phone itself is a beauty. I underestimated how good it would feel until I actually picked it up. The sandstone texture on the back of the phone feels amazing, I thought it would feel a bit too rough, but it feels really nice. I am sad that I don't trust myself with this phone without a case though. Size doesn't feel too big (although I do have fairly large slender hands) and the power and volume buttons feel tactile (some have said it's too recessed, not in my case). Coming from a phone where the power button was located at the top of the phone, the side power button feels much more ergonomic and easier to access of course. I do wish that the screen resolution was quad HD (like the LG G3), but I really can't complain about anything at this price point.

I made a thread asking users about what they didn't like about the OPO, and my biggest concerns were the yellow tint at the bottom of the screen (that was only an early production defect AFAIK), camera responsiveness, random resets (with the new update), and battery issues. So far, the only thing that I have encountered is a bit of the camera lag (hopefully they will fix this with a patch), and what seems to me like poor reception :S. With my old phone, I was able to get 70-80% bars with LTE signal, but on the OPO, I'm getting around 60% bars with E/H+/3G signal, not LTE. My carrier operates LTE on bands 700/1700/2600, all of which OPO is listed to support :. I haven't tested this outside of my neighborhood; so I'll find out if I can get LTE anywhere tomorrow.

Overall; I love this phone. NO RAGRETS.

I bought this case from Tudia. I have the exact same case right now but for my OP3 and it's honestly, pretty great? For the cost at least. It's a nice TPU bumper with a strong plastic that slides over it for good protection. All that while really not adding much bulk whatsoever to the actual device.

I may end up getting a nicer Spigen case or something down the line, but I've been using this for a year on my OP3 and the phone has taken some nice tumbles (specifically whenever I have my wife hold it for some reason because her hands are apparently always lathered in butter) and doesn't have a scratch on it as a result of said drops.

As for Tempered Glass screen protectors... if this screen is that weird 4D edge or w/e they call it like it was on the 3 and 5 models. You basically can't use Tempered Glass on them as the glass can't go to the edge. I believe the wet screen protectors like the one from Spigen end up being the best option.

u/parsf · 1 pointr/oneplus

Hey personally, on my Nexus 5 I started off with a clear plastic screen protector. Then I got introduced to matte screen protectors which was amazing. However, when my friend got the OPO, he ordered a tempered glass screen protector. Boom, ordered and applied it (which is even easier to do than plastic ones by the way), and he's never going back. The screen clarity and smoothness is unrivaled. Same feeling as using a naked screen. The anti-fingerprint coating and other coatings might even make it better than the original screen, similar to having two screens on top of each other. He was persuaded to buy one as my other friend had one on his Nexus 5 and it saved his screen from a drop once. The protector shattered but the screen underneath was untouched, unlike when I dropped my Nexus 5...ended up having to get a screen replacement. The one he got was from Amazon. If you enjoy the feeling of the naked screen but don't want to scratch it, this is definitely for you.

For TPU cases, I've not had a chance to look into those. From the little searching I've done, this looks like it would be decent. It still has some transparency so you can see the 1+ Logo (something I would want) but also provides great protection. I've heard a lot of great reviews about this company.

However, I think for the case it comes down to personal preference and how clumsy you think you are. It's important to strike a balance between an average protective case with a thin design and a great protective case which is extra bulky. Personally I may got for an official one such as this or this. I know a lot of reviews say it makes it too slippery. But I like the thinness and only need something to protect the back when I place my phone down.

u/Jelcen · 1 pointr/oneplus

this is the one i got

Yeah I agree, the wood cases look cool, but I don't think they will do much to protect the phone. This case also does put a lip around the screen like the otterbox cases which should help a lot too - but i love this phone so much i'll do everything i can to not drop it, the case is just there for daily protection from scuffs and etc lol - i also love how the buttons are covered so they don't get liquid in them and stuff (nexus 4 got a tiny drop of water under the button and the volume rocker started working very randomly)

u/hi_internet_friend · 1 pointr/oneplus

My pre installed screen protector got scratched up so badly that when I looked at a white screen I could see the "rainbow colored" scratches, so I bought this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07SJZ1MMD . To this day have no idea how I scratched it up so bad.

I prefer the fit of the original screen protector better (it also felt thicker) but I'm fairly happy considering how cheap these were.

I also have a Dbrand "honeycomb" or hexagonal skin - love how grippy it is. Wish it protected the sides of the device more but it's good.

u/Captain_Midnight · 2 pointsr/oneplus

The Tudia looks nice, but I hear that its design is shoddy.

I use the Diztronic case. It doesn't look very exciting, but its durable and has a good fit. The Bugdroid is made of the same material and should hold up pretty well.

I personally don't use screen protectors. Gorilla Glass makes them pretty unneccesary, in my experience. If you want one, Orzly tempered glass protectors are considered the best.

[Case] Adore June Classic case for ONEPLUS ONE - original Cordura® - black | £8.96 via Amazon.co.uk

I can't speak for the delivery time due to having Amazon Prime (next day delivery) but the case itself is pretty nice. Fabric on the outside while having the inner layer being made of a soft fleece. The case was far too tight to comfortably use, needing two hands to squeeze the phone into and out of the case. It seems to be loosening up after the few days iv had it so it appears to be getting better.

Recommendation: Haven't decided

****

[Protector] Orzly® - OnePlus ONE Premium Tempered Glass | £11.88 via Amazon.co.uk

Quality protector, feels nice and doesn't appear to diminish the screen or touch of the device. However, it does not fit perfectly. It appears to be cut slightly smaller that the screen of the Oneplus. The left edge will fit perfectly but the right will have a small gap. Its not noticeable unless you look closely but again, its not perfect.

Recommendation: Yes

i use a blitzwolf car charger. its not dash charge but it honestly charges the 3 up pretty quick. also has a usb port for a second cable.

i bought a cheap tpu case from amazon for the 3 it has worked great though since its clear it has discolored in the past 2 years as tpu will pull oils in from your hands. but for 8 bucks.

i bought a glass screen protector but since the case fit over the sides and the glass was a tad too wide it wouldnt allow the protector to fit flush as the case would put pressure on the protector and lift it. without a protector i have no visible scratches in 2 years

u/__PETTYOFFICER117__ · 2 pointsr/oneplus

Here's the one I use. I'm fairly careful with my phones, but this thing feels like it offers pretty great protection. Buttons are nice and clicky, not mushy like many cases make things. Has a nice lip on the front and keeps the camera bump from sticking out.

u/shoangore · 23 pointsr/oneplus

Here's my OnePlus One 64gb version in its case, tempered glass screen protector, and Qi receiver.

Everything works fine. The glass catching fingerprints still, though not as easily as the screen did. Edges weren't done great so I imagine they'll collect dust.

The case fits well and even allows for my Pressy unit (which is compatible) to be inserted without any flushness issues. Honestly fits it like a glove.

I'm using a microUSB "B" style Qi receiver to charge. On my TYLT unit, I can have the phone vertical or horizontal and it'll charge still.

I included a photo of all the packaging so you know what brands I bought. If you want to know the specific vendor I bought (and not shop on your own.. I was in a hurry so I paid a premium on all of them, at least 25% over what I could have gotten them if I had the time to wait).

Wireless Receiver

Nillkin Case - Black

Tempered Glass Screen Protector

TYLT Wireless Charger

EDIT: Charging Update!

At 25% charge, I put the phone on my TYLT dock from 12AM-5:30AM; phone was fully charged by the time I woke up! So yes, the charging is at least fast enough to fully charge my phone.

EDIT 2: 2nd Day Charging

At 14% charge, I put the phone to charge at around 11:30PM. At 5:30AM the next day, the phone seemed to have overheated at 76% and had stopped charging. Battery temp showed the phone was overheating at a ghastly 49 Degrees C! I will try one more night to see if it was just a fluke. Anyone want to buy me a new battery? Ha.

EDIT 3: 3rd Day Charging

At 53% charge, went up to 100% overnight. I made sure the receiver was right in the center of the TYLT dock to avoid poor connection.

In the afternoon I hit 17% because the phone was being ridiculous. Put it in the dock vertically without giving it much attention. Went up to 38% in 90 minutes, but the phone was pretty hot. Will charge the rest. If no new edits appear, it means I've stopped having issues with charging.

EDIT 4: ?? 7/15/14 Update

For those of you who want to use the TYLT to charge, be careful. My phone repeatedly overheats using this, going as high as 43C. Some research today shows it may be due to the metal in the phone activating ALL the coils, causing the phone to roast. I will try this official post by TYLT tonight to see if that helps. I have also installed this app from Google Play to monitor my battery and make sure the temperatures don't go too high during my testing, as I don't want to completely destroy my phone's battery in the first month. More reading on the heating issues here

EDIT 5: 7/16/14 Update

I added a block that's 1/2" tall to the bottom of my TYLT unit and then set my phone on top. Additionally, I removed 'High Accuracy' mode on the GPS to Battery Saving and disabled data (because those also generate heat inside the phone). Doing this, my phone never exceeded 38C. Charging overnight, when I awoke my phone was sitting at 100% charge idling at 36.5C, perfectly acceptable!

Tonight I will try to charge using the bottom wedge but leaving Data and High Accuracy on. I have installed Battery Temperature Guard to play an alarm if temperatures exceed 40C (still acceptable as you can reach this while gaming, but I don't want to have my phone sitting at that temp for 4-5+ hours!)

Possible items to use as 'blocks':

  • Legos
  • Mechanical pencil lead holders (stack 2-3)
  • Giant pink eraser
  • Double-sided insulation foam

    EDIT 6: 7/23/14 Update

So it seems sometimes I can charge without any issues, other times the phone will charge very slowly. I've experimented with height positioning with the block mount to lift the phone, it seems anything from 2cm-3/4" will prevent the phone from heating. While charging I do not exceed 36C.

I've also pulled the receiver out just a little so that I can pull the microUSB out of the port in case I need to charge via cable or connect to the computer. Time will tell if that will damage the cable, but for now it looks like it's fine.

    11/17/14 Update:

If you're visiting here still, please note I have STOPPED using a Qi charger in lieu of an actual dock with microUSB connector. The charger worked, yes, but my phone was constantly warm, resulting in shorter battery life on a regular basis. Since removing it, my phone has been cool to the touch, and keeps its charge longer throughout the day.

Just fine, mine is running ExperienceOS R18 with Nova Launcher right now and it's smooth.

I had the Spigen Rugged Armor case for it but I ditched it for OnePlus' Black Apricot case since it was slimmer, it offers minimal protection but it looks great for a case.

Also have the Orzly v2 glass screen protector on mine, not the greatest as there's a rainbow effect but I just left it on since it was miles better than the OnePlus glass screen protector. Not sure if I even need it since I haven't even managed to scratch the screen protector.

I never dropped mine and I'm careful with it so there isn't a scratch anywhere on mine. It's still really fast IMO, I don't play games just music, calls, SMS/MMS, chat, reddit, web browsing, YouTube and etc. which it does just fine. I never used the headphone jack since I use bluetooth earbuds, and I get a full day's use out of my OP3 pretty easily.

The camera is a bit ehh but it's alright given the price of the OP3.

I'll probably use mine for the next 2 years if not 3 before replacing it provided nothing goes wrong/breaks.

The Spigen Rugged Armor is the absolute BEST case for this phone. I have the OtterBox and still prefer this case, because it just fits the phone perfectly and feels nice while keeping it at a slim profile. I've also dropped it with this case onto hardwood floor and the phone was perfectly fine. A+ quality.

u/Cromulator · 3 pointsr/oneplus

I've had two cases so far, The Diztronic case that that has been mentioned, and this one.

The Diztronic I had first since everyone recommended it. It is really well made, fits nicely, its thin, all around great except... it's really slippery. Makes it difficult to use with one hand without it sliding off my palm. Multiple times I almost dropped the phone because of this.

Then I got Tudia case. I wanted something with a little more grip. This one has smooth/glossy border around the sides which kind of 'sticks' to your skin, making it much easier to use one-handed less likely to be dropped. On the down side, it does hold fingerprints around that thin border area. The quality is a bit lower as well, you can see the the lines from the molding process (which you can't on the Diztronic).

Overall, I'm kind of torn. The Diztronic is much nicer to look at, but the Tudia feels safer and makes the phone easier to hold. I'm going to give each more time, but thought I'd share my thoughts.

u/wellkevi01 · 1 pointr/oneplus

I've ordered two cheap sandstone style cases off Amazon for my 7 Pro. This one and this one. Fitment wise, both are perfectly fine. All of the cutouts are in the right spots and don't interfere with anything. I like the first one because the top and bottom of it are closed and have cutouts where required. The second one just has an open top and bottom, which in my eyes offers less protection. The second case feels better than the first one though. The "sandstone" texture on the first one doesn't feel quite as gritty as it should, plus only after a day of use, some of the texture was wearing off on the sides of the case. The second case feels just right and the texture doesn't seem to be wearing off yet.

u/Nayiko · 1 pointr/oneplus

The most common one I've seen people talk about is the Spigen one, but it's only up for preorder so no idea when it'll be actually released. There is one that comes up on a few sites by Ringke. ( https://www.amazon.com/Ringke-Fusion-X-Designed-Resistant-Protection/dp/B07Q6GZXZK/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=ringke+oneplus&qid=1558147520&s=wireless&sr=1-4 ) It looks pretty hideous though so I'd probably pass on it.

That Olixar one looks pretty good and the screen protector is a bonus. Case options actually had me second guessing my color choice for a bit - I'm waiting on my Nebula Blue but most cases are black which defeats the purpose of having a unique color, so I'll have to wait for some more options or get that hideous Ringke as a temporary measure.

u/Arch_Magus_Stein · 5 pointsr/oneplus

I had the oneplus 1 with the sandstone back and loved it. I really wanted the official OP3 sandstone case so Im glad I couldn't justify cost at the time. I bought this and love it. Easy to clean protects well room for a glass screen protector. Thanks for the heads up on the sandstone case.

Orzly V2

Cons: Dot matrix, rainbow effect, not secured to screen in center(so it kinda feels like a defender-series otterbox).

Pros: Covers entire screen perfectly and fits with my case, seems high quality, apparently it's the best one available

I really like it, even with it's flaws it's way better than any plastic one i've owned before.

u/telrod11 · 2 pointsr/oneplus

I have it installed too. I think it's way better than nothing. I have edges popping up after 3 weeks, but the company is sending another for me to install.

As far as cases, I really like the poetic case I have with mine. It doesn't hide *all* of the back, and looks pretty good.

I can't really take any pics, but I've been using the Tudia slim fit, and it's been pretty great. I got the red one which is glossy, and as a result, it gets scratched all to hell. However, it's pretty robust. My colleague got the matte black, and it looks WAY sleeker.

https://www.amazon.ca/TUDIA-Slim-Fit-CYGEN-Protective-OnePlus/dp/B00O5QAI8O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1463064411&sr=8-1&keywords=tudia+oneplus+one

u/mehtabg · 3 pointsr/oneplus

I bought the Tudia case when I first bought the phone but I found that it added too much bulk to the phone and caught way too many fingerprints on the glossy back.

I've since bought the Diztronic TPU case and I love it. I would definitely recommend it if you were looking for a matte black case! (Link: http://www.amazon.ca/Diztronic-Matte-Black-Flexible-OnePlus/dp/B00MBS1NA0)

This is the combo I currently have on my phone. The screen protector is amazing and feels like the screen has nothing on it. Does collect fingerprints though. The case is amazing. It keeps the phone thin but still well protected. I would recommended both.

I'm using the tempered glass protector from Orzly and it has a good oleophobic coating, seems much better than the screen on its own. Clarity is excellent and I've noticed no more glare than was present on the screen itself. I'd highly recommend it.

Spigen Rugged Armor.

Pros : Minimum bulk, adds grip, easy to install/remove as it's flexible.

Cons : It hides the nice Aluminium back of the phone and logo. But there is the Ultra Hybrid case which is transparent.

Coupled with the Orzly 2.5D TGSP V2. Some people notice the dotted layer on the TGSP, but I don't, at all... Have to make sure that it is perfectly applied and centered so it doesn't interfere with the case.

When I was looking for a case for my 3T i came across the rhino case as well. Imo the rhino case looks a bit too thick for my liking, and so i found this case:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Orzly%C2%AE-Oneplus-OnePlus-Protective-Absorbing/dp/B01HBLS85Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1480469131&sr=8-1&keywords=oneplus+orzly+case

I've been using this case for a few days now and I find it great. It's not too thick, and you can also show off your dbrand skin if you'd like as well.

u/Mosher13 · 1 pointr/oneplus

I just bought this one. I just got my phone yesterday and haven't run yet, but I plan on going running tomorrow with it. I've used it with my Nexus 4 and it seemed pretty good. I'll update afterwards.

-Edit- Ran with it today. Fits with my case, although it's snug. Also, I have wireless headphones, so it's fine for me. However, if you use wired headphones I'm not sure how it would work. It encloses with a zipper, so it's definitely secure, however there's nowhere for you to plug them in.

u/Papander · 4 pointsr/oneplus

Screen protectors will most likely give good protection against scratches. However there is no actual proof anywhere on the internet that screen protectors would offer any meaningful protection against drops.

"I dropped my phone and only the screen protector cracked." People tend to use that as a proof that it works. But in reality they can't be sure if the screen would have cracked without the screen protector.

Screen protectors are more fragile than your screen. For example some people have received screen protectors that have already cracked in the mail. The Ozrly tempered glass screen protector that gets mentioned here a lot is only 0.24mm thick. Also it's highly unlikely that the phone is going to fall on the floor and land flat on its face. Screen protectors don't offer any protection to impacts on corners/sides of the phone.

A case like TUDIA Slim-Fit CYGEN Dual Layer Protective Case for OnePlus One will offer more protection against drops. The edges on it are raised above the screen little bit. So get a case to protect your phone against drops. But know that the phone will feel different on your hand due to the texture and increased thickness. Add screen protector for the extra protection against scratches.

Or use the phone naked, without a case or screen protector.

Have this on my OP5 right now. Feels high quality and thin enough to not be bulky, and I feel confident that my phone will be okay when I accidently drop it. If you can wait till August to get a spigen case, it's worth it. In the meanwhile, I'd recommend an official OP5 case or an otter box if you want the best protection.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NJBVHIG/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_2?pf_rd_p=1944687702&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B00LWSRVN8&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=03N1W519MADCZ4D3GSEJ

Raised edge around the screen, TPU, extruded buttons, holes for all mics and speakers and stuff. Great case.
I'm using mine with an ORZLY Tempered Glass protector as well.

u/v36 · 1 pointr/oneplus

What's funny is I ordered this case about a week ago and even now on the Amazon listing, the stock photos do not depict that rectangular design on the clear back. On the product listing it looks like a spigen techarmor (tech21 replica) with plain clear backing case.

Diztronic and Orzly. This is not even an opinion, they're the best :P Good luck!

u/2legit2quittt · -1 pointsr/oneplus

The Diztronic one looks pretty plain and I didn't like that, so I bought a Cruzerlite. It has a cool design on the back and protects the phone very well. Also, a lot more color options :-)

As /u/dfloyd13 mentioned, the Diztronic case and Orzly screen protector are great choices! I have the Diztronic case myself (got my phone a day ago) and I'm very impressed by it. Instead of the Orzly however, I have the [Nilkin] (http://www.amazon.com/Nillkin-Hardness-Tempered-Protector-OnePlus/dp/B00L3EO82I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1412279982&sr=8-1&keywords=nillkin+oneplus) which I like very much.

Perfect, they sell on Amazon Canada, and they are in stock. I'm definitely getting one of these.

Can anyone recommend a case?
I was thinking about either this or this

u/Zebov8324 · 4 pointsr/oneplus

Oneplus 7 Pro Tempered Glass... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RRVMX2Z?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

It's a better version of a Whitestone dome, with actual customer service as well.

I've tried a couple of the best sticky glass ones (glass that just sticks to the screen) and it missed taps constantly and had a dot matrix pattern. So I tried the liquid ones. It took two attempts since it doesn't come with the alignment thing that Whitestone ones come with, but it's so easy to move around once the glue is completely spread so that if you don't get any bubbles (was completely my fault on the first one), it's super easy.

u/dahliamma · 1 pointr/oneplus

I love the look of this thing, but even though I've never dropped a phone, this thing is large enough that I was scared. So I am sacrificing beauty (and in my case, thinness) for safety. I'm using this case. Quite large and bulky, but I don't have to worry about breaking the phone anymore.

u/Seamonkey79 · 1 pointr/oneplus

I ordered this https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07R7VDQQ1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It is almost identical in feel to the Sandstone 1st party case, but less than 1/3 the price. I'm probably going to order the 1st party Karbon (protect, not bumper) case soon, though - I had that on my OP6 and it is thus far my favorite case ever aside from the $50 Pitaka I had on my S8, which is almost exactly the same anyway.

u/DefinitePotato · 4 pointsr/oneplus

Just go with the Spigen Rugged Armor. It says it is for the Oneplus 3 but it will also fit the Oneplus 3T. It looks like a hard case but it is actually thin and malleable while still offering good protection.

u/MuseR- · 1 pointr/oneplus

I'm getting it tomorrow. I've heard really good things about it on xda. And it comes with 2 for 30 great value. Same as Whitestone dome

Lets start off with cases. Below is a link to an article about the top 10 OnePlus One cases. You may also want to look into the tempered glass protection options. Some people claim the tempered glass is amazing, while others believe it won't protect your screen. A lot of factors play into whether your screen will crack when dropped, so sometimes you get lucky and other times you don't.

I got this case for my op6 because I was using the same case with my op3 for 2 years and liked it. I'm normally very careful with my phone and only really dropped it on carpet at my house, but last week I dropped my phone on concrete for the first time and the case saved my phone. Part of the case chipped off the corner, but that just tells me the case did its job. It's not the thinnest case, but not the thickest either, but I don't mind it because I like the added protection over a thinner case.

My brother and father have that metal band case. It's interesting. They bith like it. I personally wouldn't like it because I'm a big fan of tpu cases. I own and use this one in orange. It's nice and isn't loose or anything.

u/swirlled_ · 1 pointr/oneplus

Yeah I agree, I don't like the issue with the camera bump either on the Flexicase. But another case that has caught my eye was the Spigen case thats available for purchase soon, it's not a clear case like the Flexicase or anything but it looks clean and looks promising. Check it out and tell me what you think!

u/douknogreg · 3 pointsr/oneplus

I own that case, and I honestly hate it. Extremely hard to press the button. I own This case and I just love it. Looks good and the buttons are very easy to press, and the case itself feels very sturdy.

Fits the "curved" screen perfectly. However there is a dot matrix type of effect, but I can only see it under very bright sunlight conditions, not a deal breaker for me.

I just pre-ordered a Tudia case. https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07D3FFPPJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_1FhbBbMHEV715

I have been using one for my OPO for 2 yrs now. I really like the quality. I dropped the phone few times in the past, the case helped protecting it.

Hopefully they improved the button clicks as currently on my OPO it requires a bit of force

I've had it on since end of June with no real issues. Minor bubbles on edge from pocket flexing but they can pushed on and go away. I feel like I screwed up the install on that spot though. I tried to clean up excess glue and pulled it out from behind screen. The I stall is not easy but it works great.

Pretty much everyone recommends the Orzly tempered glass screen protector for the OPO. It's cut perfect, rounded corners, treated specially, etc.

u/UpvoteEmperor · 5 pointsr/oneplus

Most covers that aren't "ultra thin" or "snap on" will do the job just fine. I'm using the Spigen Rugged (not Hybrid) case from Amazon and it suits your requirements. It's probably also one of the best covers I've had for a phone.

u/lutgholein · 1 pointr/oneplus

For my old OPO, I tried on a bunch of cases, including Tudia, Cruzerlite, Diztronic, Diztronic Ultra, and Ringke FUSION. I ended up sticking with Diztronic Ultra, but the problem with all those cases was that they all covered up the sexy Sandstone finish.

So I got the Sandstone case this time for my OP3, and also the Black Apricot to change it up once in a while.

As for screen protectors, right now I have the official OP3 tempered glass screen protector. The quality is really nice and it feels good to the touch, but it really bothers me that it doesn't cover the whole screen, leaving a significant gap on the edges.

The whole point of tempered glass screen protectors is to absorb shock if the phone is dropped, so that the protector cracks leaving the phone screen/digitizer intact, so if this phone gets dropped on its corners or edges, this tempered glass screen protector wouldn't do much to help.

Another issue is that the official screen protector is narrower than the width of the screen, the gap it leaves is bigger than the side bezels, so it makes the display look weird.

I ordered the PLESON full screen tempered glass today, but somebody was telling me in another thread that it sucks, so IDK, we'll see how it goes.

u/ThePiepeloi12 · 2 pointsr/oneplus

This seems to be the most protective whilst not looking insane i have found yet, i especially like how much the case borders go above the screen so it literally CANT get damaged when dropped on a flat surface. Aditionally i would recomend buying a tempered glass screen protector as it has saved countless of people thier screens.

u/p07a70 · 2 pointsr/oneplus

Try the Spigen rugged armor case. I'm using it right now on my 3T. It looks much better irl than in pics, and it feels very protective and thin. Spigen is also a trustworthy brand.

u/xlaxplaya · 7 pointsr/oneplus

I disagree with a lot of the Diztronic cons. Since when is ten bucks pricey? Also, "substantial" bulk? Really? It adds a couple millimeters to the front, but this is by design. And I definitely wouldn't consider it a "fingerprint magnet". In my experience, fingerprints only occur when my fingers are greasy from food, and they're easily wiped off.

u/mightyprometheus · 2 pointsr/oneplus

I've decided to go with the Spigen case and 5 pack Orzly screen protectors.

I figured with the case protecting all the edges, these screen protectors would protect the face that is exposed, and that's perfect for me.

u/firiiri · 2 pointsr/oneplus

u/mrouija213 · 2 pointsr/oneplus

I went with the MIME Ghost Glass tempered screen protector and a TUDIA Ultra Slim LITE TPU. The Ringke Fusion had too much gap above/below the screen protector which showed the metallic trim around the display. All three TUDIA cases fit roughly the same, but I prefer the plain black one. It was pretty much a perfect fit for what I wanted.

I'm using the Orzly TGSP V2 right now. It's a lot nicer than the factory-installed plastic one was. The sizing works great for my Spigen Rugged Armor case.

Reports of the dot matrix and rainbow effect are true, but in my experience, exaggerated. I only notice either under very specific lighting conditions. They are also on sale on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/OnePlus-Protector-Orzly-Pro-Fit-Tempered/dp/B01LWOYYYZ?th=1&psc=1

u/crabsintrees · 1 pointr/oneplus

Actually, I decided against the clear one, because some of the reviews said that it wasn't completely clear on the whole case. So I just went with a sexy black TPU case.

u/001100000 · 5 pointsr/oneplus

I'm using this one, after installing it you can see a bit of a matrix of dots, but only when off-angle and when the screen is off. Doesn't show in normal use with the screen on. Definitely worth the £9, knowing that OnePlus doesn't have the best customer service reputation. I'm using the OtterBox case that OnePlus has on their site, the screen protector works fine with it.

u/barefootBam · 3 pointsr/oneplus

I did. Very pleased with the move. The extra battery life is a huge plus for me. Size is a little daunting at first but you get used to it. After using it for a couple weeks, the Nexus 5 seems tiny in comparison.

EDIT: I would suggest the ORLY tempered glass protector on Amazon. Fits really good on the phone and can barely tell its on. Sometimes I forget I even have a protector on it.

u/TheDerf · 1 pointr/oneplus

I ordered this Spigen case
but if this case doesnt work out Ill order a Diztronic case. Im currently rocking one on my OPO and it saved my phone so many times.

u/Joga5000 · 2 pointsr/oneplus

I'm using the Ringke Fusion-X which feels grippy and protective but has a clear acrylic back which still shows off the shiny blue back.

The back (and front) are gorilla glass so I wouldn't really worry about scratches. Dropping/shattering are the bigger issues.

I'm extremely careful with my phones and basically never drop them, but I want them to last for years so I would never risk being without a case. I don't even like how phones feel without cases - they're way too slippery and difficult to hold. (My old Nexus 6P was the same way)

u/Xdpker · 2 pointsr/oneplus

I'm using the Orzly Flexicase. It looks way better on your phone than in the pictures. I'm pretty careful with my electronics so I opted for a slim case just to protect from scratches, but not hard drops.
