Woohoo!

I'm a frequent traveler and have to constantly balance travel and my diet.

There's one item I pack sometimes, which is this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EC7XJ28/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I buy groceries if I have a small fridge and heat up healthy, frozen meals in it. If I don't have a small fridge, I'll buy on my way home.

In my meetings, I'm expected to eat and drink with clients. I tell them to feel free to order whatever they like, but I'm ordering a light appetizer because "I got drinks and apps" earlier. I'll try to order something like tuna tartare, and other things that I know definitely can't have too many calories added to them in the kitchen.

I also stopped drinking or eating anything because it is free and I've asked myself--do I actually enjoy this? I've cut out drinking sub-par wine in flight (just because the flight attendant gave it to me). I've increased how much sparkling flavored water I drink when traveling because it feels like I'm drinking something.

Vibram fan here! I run in those silly looking five-toed shoes and i love it! I wear the KMD Evo Cross Training shoe. I switched over to barefoot shoes due to my flat feet after spending many years in shoes with tons of arch support. My orthopedic doctor used to always recommend me walking barefoot when possible when i was a kid so i figured these shoes would be worth a shot. After wearing them for a few weeks i noticed my arches had stopped hurting completely when i wore shoes without arch support (work flats) and i am slowly fixing my duck feet as i become more aware of the way i step. I also feel more stable in them then my old shoes when doing floor exercises. I transitioned into them fairly quickly, in about a week i was running 2 miles in them just fine. they feel super weird at first but after a while, they are fantastic. on the Vibram site you can see how the sizing works and how these should fit and you can also look up and see if there is a store near you that carries them so you can try them on in person to figure out your size. Or you can do what i did and get them off amazon and plan on returning them if you dont like them lol

I wear 8.5 in shoes, generally 9 in running shoes. My vibrams are a womens 8 and fit like a glove.

I have tried many at all kinds of price points, and this is my favorite of the bunch by far. It's lightweight, breathable, has nice padding in the straps, and still is very supportive. After 2 years, it's still like new. Bonus: the mesh-y fabric dries quickly, making it a great bra for travel. I can sink wash it after a morning workout, and it dries fast enough to be packed that night.

former binge eater!

struggled for years.. years..

it's a condition that robbed me of many memories because I would often pick binges over MANY activities.. or i'd be feeling too self conscious post a binge and then shamefully cancel events.

first step is recognizing.. because the longest time i didn't even understand what was happening.

i am in not way affiliated with this book or individual. but i did find it helpful..

it's a matter of recognizing when a binge comes on and then minimizing its power.. telling this urge that it has no control over you. with time it gets easier and the more you do it the stronger you become.

do i still overeat? yes 100% there are times i eat too much or too many calories that i don't neeed to sustain me

but the binging frenzy days are over

if you do want to "diet" and restrict your calories be mindful of the number you are reaching as that could also trigger a binge since you are actually hungry

but the mindless binge frenzies i believe will go away.. at least try the book

Regular workout gloves were too bulky/hot for me. These help with giving me a better grip the rower as well as the TRX bands. Admittedly, it also helps me feel less yucky about grabbing sweat-soaked rowing handles. 🤢

I have really tight calves and my doctor suggested foam rolling. It really helps! Watch YouTube videos to make sure you're doing it right, and really take your time with it. I second the other comment about eating enough protein. That has helped with my soreness a lot too.

Yes it triggers tinitus for me which went on for 3 months of off and on ringing. I now wear high fidelity ear plugs to class. They hello so much. You could get a set of sliders for home (like these https://www.amazon.com/Tumbl-Trak-Sliding-Sliders-Comfortable/dp/B006FFA1XU/ref=sr_1_6?crid=1NVAADV8QY38Q&keywords=sliders+fitness&qid=1569590536&sprefix=sliders+%2Caps%2C145&sr=8-6) and work on your pike gradually over time, just like you'd make progress on anything else (push-ups, etc.). It's really crucial to push through the shoulders and keep the "hollow" position (opposite of arched) to do these safely and effectively.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this one. It has an app on my phone and automatically syncs my weigh ins and has graphs for bmi, water weight, muscle mass. I weigh every day, but don't look at the scale. I check the app once a week to see my progress, so I don't get that day to day obsession. I have a profile set up, my bf had a profile set up. When he steps on it, it syncs to his app only, when I step on it syncs to my app only. Bc we are so different in weight, it automatically recognises who is in the scale. If I can figure out how to get a picture on redit, I'll show you a screenshot of the app if you want.

I had this issue when I started working out in AM, commuting to work and showering there. I read about on the Skincare Addiction reddit and ended up buying one of these body scrubbers. Every time I have to get replacements I have debated about getting different ones, but these are just so perfect for me. The only thing is they are a bit thicker than some other ones, so it might take a workout or two to get used to them. It is like a regular scale but with bioimpedance sensors built into it and does some rough calculations to determine your body fat %, muscle mass weight, subcutaneous fat weight, etc. Along with giving you your actual weight.

I have one at home. It also logs your previous weigh-ins and things like that on its connecting app. The major downside to the scale is that bioimpedance has been shown to not be super accurate, especially not as much so as DEXA scans (also cost more per scan vs 1-$25 purchase). I just use the scale as a good baseline to compare myself against in my weekly weight checks.

If you were truly eating 1000 calories a day and working out, you would lose weight rapidly. Either you're underestimating the calories you're actually eating due to not using a food scale/knowing the exact nutritional content of food, or you didn't stay on the diet long enough to notice the effects. There's no tricks or gimmicks if weight loss is your goal, eat 1700~ calories a day and log it all for 2+ months with daily weigh ins, and the results will be there.

I would suggest purchasing a Wi-fi scale (https://www.amazon.com/GreaterGoods-Conductive-Technology-Measurements-Monitoring/dp/B01IFYLARO) and stepping on it at least once a day. The good thing about the Wi-fi scale is you don't have to look at the number on the scale if you think that may demotivate you, you could just step on it, listen for the beep to confirm its logged your weight, and walk away. It tracks all you weigh ins automatically, doesn't require you finnicking around with your phone's bluetooth like other scales, and has a web interface so you can access all your data whenever you want.

I would also caution you against comparing your scale weigh-ins on a daily/weekly basis. Water, diet and everything else will cause your weight to fluctuate 6lbs in both directions day-to-day, so you won't have any hard evidence you're actually losing weight until probably 3+ weeks in and you have enough data points to see the overall trend of your weigh-ins.
