Yeah, something like this and then maybe a USB hub.

I've used USB ports on Android set top boxes and in all cases they have accepted keyboard, mouse, and USB sticks. The iStick even accepts USB drives.

Amazon has a pretty good price as well.

edit: What i actually should do it try to trade one of my extra wireless controllers for a wired one.

u/madmatt1974 · 3 pointsr/ouya

I recently bought one of these converters for a vga monitor. Linky It has an audio out port built in and all of the cables you need. But you will need an old school VGA plug on your monitor and a vga cable.

I doubt the USB speakers will work with the ouya, but maybe someone else has experience with this.

I think it looks great on smaller displays, in fact I find some games just too huge in my home theater.

Pretty sure the controllers are just mediocre unfortunately. I've heard laying the ouya down so the top faces you helps with lag but I haven't really messed with it. Also some people have talked about using something like this to solve the wifi issue and use Ethernet.

I opted to go with this one (for use with xbmc) since it had bluetooth support and seemed more generally useful. I expect I'll post something about it once my OUYA arrives (haven't gotten email yet). I feel quite well versed using a keyboard for navigation and then, of course, I can always fall back on the controller.

> there are better alternatives as a console/emulator.

For those of you who are wondering:

  • Nvidia shield TV as u/ESCthehack79 said. Quite a bit pricier, but you'll be way more pleased with the performance.

  • Raspberry Pi 3 if you can't afford the shield TV.

I'd be curious if i could use one of these http://www.amazon.com/May-Flash-Controller-Adapter-Nintendo-64/dp/B002B9FIUU/ref=pd_sim_vg_9 ... I still have all my N64 stuff. =) I could just play it on my n64 but thats no fun right?

u/Fordiman · 2 pointsr/ouya

Possibly? I've tried a number of Kb/M combos via USB and nothing worked. I finally broke down and bought this, which works wonderfully.

I picked up flirc specifically for this purpose. I use it with harmony 200. It works reasonably well, with one big issue currently. The android back function is mapped to button_b (in the ouya). The only way to add this is to manually map it by editing the keyboard file associated with the flicr... Once they officially address this issue, it will be perfect.

  1. Depends on the game (or if you put an emulator on there, you could have free old games for older consoles)
  2. You could get a standard HDMI to RCA adapter for usage, or even a cable, like this one:

I'm using this kingston 32Gb flash drive I got on amazon for $21 and it works great.

I don't know why they didn't just include a microSD slot. I'm currently using a microSD card inside a tiny microSD reader (this one) and it works, but I really want the ability to install apps to the card rather than internal storage.

u/balance07 · 0 pointsr/ouya

ah, good and valid point. i hadn't considered that, as i have made mine silent by changing the fan: http://amzn.com/B009NQLT0M

u/Random_Hero1989 · 1 pointr/ouya

Hmm, good question, I went too fast and didn't bother to check the inputs/outputs, I'll get back to ya

Update: Here this might work, VGA might be the way to go

u/GeekKingCloud · 1 pointr/ouya

I have a Qanba Q4, which works on PS3, PC, XBox 360 and even the OUYA. It might be a bit too pricey though, if you only want it to play classic games and aren't really into fighting games competitively.

Courtesy of CNET's Cheapskate Blog, today's Deal of the Day:

>Bonus deal: Need to route an Ethernet connection from here to there? Put down the drill and pick up a powerline networking kit. Like this one: Today only, [PricePlunge has the LEA Networks Netplug 200+ Powerline Ethernet Adapter Kit] (http://www.priceplunge.com/) for $16.14 when you apply coupon code SPRING5 at checkout. Shipping adds $4.99. I haven't found any reviews of this kit, [I found one Amazon review] (http://www.amazon.com/Networks-Netplug-Compact-Powerline-Ethernet/product-reviews/B003K12EZ0/ref=dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1) but it's by far the cheapest deal I've ever seen on two powerline plugs.

The keyboard you linked to: does it support the trackpad? I've looked up a few similar bluetooth keyboard remotes and they usually say that the trackpad only works on Windows for some reason.

Quick edit: Like this one
>NOTE:

  1. The touchpad feature does not function when paired with tablets or mobile phones.

Have you seen the price of powerline adapters? They've gotten ridiculous cheap.
