750ti is the first to use the new line of GPU architecture from nvidia, they're actually pretty powerful for being their entry level gaming card. It actually will play stuff like BF4 at 1920X1080 at 30+ fps. It's not going to let you play with maxed out graphics on everything, but it is pretty cheap.

the requirements for ESO aren't real high, and the 750ti outperforms the 560ti and the 6950 by quite a bit. Might be able to pick up a GTX 660 for under $200 as well

these are what i'd pick, any of them should play ESO np. Just depends on how much you have to spend, and if you're planning to play other stuff besides ESO.

750ti OC - $160

GTX 660 - $190

GTX 760 - $250

How many watts is your PSU? only other thing you may need to upgrade.

How it goes with the xbox 360 controllers, is that there is only two ways of connecting to the PC:

1.) Directly connected with a controller with the cable built in, not any of the controllers with batteries or battery packs. The Play and Charge cable is only for charging your controller(s)' and/or playing directly connected to a xbox360. But not supported for PC play.

2.) A specific wireless dongle that will allow your wireless controllers to connect wirelessly to your computer.

The links are only to Amazon, and there will definitely be better deals to be found. Hopefully this helps out.
Good Luck, Have Fun.

I'm pretty sure it's a Desktop. I found (I'm pretty certain) the exact one I have on Amazon which I'll link below. Are you pretty much saying I'm not able to replace my graphics card with the current tower I have? Or if I can, it won't make a difference? If that's the case, would replacing my entire computer be the best option if I want to play games?

thanks for the detailed reply!

i may as well get another xbox controller as it’s pretty much the same price as the adapter, this one seem good?

edit: i’d get the used very good one from rock30games or do you think i should just get a new one (they’re like 94% positive and have 25k seller reviews and it’s “very good” condition)

u/Enickols12 · 2 pointsr/pcgamingtechsupport

For gaming, the monitor looks good. Here is a review.

If you have an AMD card and you want a 24" monitor this one is better.

I don't have this monitor, but I personally like Asus monitors because they usually can get pretty tall so I don't need a monitor stand. I have the PB277Q and it looks nice, performs well and I have not had any issues with it in the year I have had it.

This depends, the 24" with have a higher PPI by about 10 (not that big of a deal really) and the 27" will be larger. Personaly I would get the 27" if they are the same price like they are on Amazon.

im not sure what case you have, but in most scenarios wherever you plug in the headphones there'll be a port just like it with a little mic symbol near it or it'll be colored pink or green, most likely on the back of your case. If you need the splitter cable i'm pretty sure this is what you need: https://www.amazon.com/MillSO-3-5mm-Jack-Adapter-CTIA/dp/B071NDLCGC?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_1

I'm not really a pro on this topic, i just encountered this issue a bit ago. I recommend getting a PC headset with a USB rather than the console-familiar 3.5mm jack, as the mic/headphone quality will be a little nicer.

Did you install the drivers for your controller? If you did and its still not working, get a wired Microsoft Xbox 360 controller or wired Microsoft Xbox 1 controller. You can see it's much cheaper to get the wired 360 controller. If you absolutely want a wireless controller, you could get either the wireless Xbox 360 controller and the Windows Xbox 360 adapter or wireless Xbox 1 controller with Windows adapter (old version) or wireless Xbox 1 controller with Windows adapter (new version). Since they're made by Microsoft, they work fine with Windows. Logitech also makes a few good controllers, the wired Logitech Gamepad F310 and the wireless Logitech Gamepad F710. I personally have a wired Microsoft 360 controller and a wireless Logitech F710 and from my experience, the official Microsoft controllers work best with games. I hope that helps.

Great questions!

The GPU in the laptop is embedded: Intel HD Graphics 620

In terms of the specs of the CPU and GPU.. How would I check the CPU? (I'll have to do this when I get home). All I know is this is the link to my laptop: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01L3EXAC6/ref=emc_b_5_i

I believe this is the link to the CPU: https://ark.intel.com/products/95451/Intel-Core-i7-7500U-Processor-4M-Cache-up-to-3_50-GHz-

The external GPU is this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XH2P8DD/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

(EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti FOUNDERS EDITION GAMING, 11GB GDDR5X, LED, DX12 OSD Support (PXOC) Graphic Cards 11G-P4-6390-KR)

Does that help?

So, for $973 here is the list of components you can actually buy:

cooler, which is optional

motherboard

Cpu

Ram

Gpu

hard drive

case

PSU

I did what I could to save where I could and allocate elsewhere. You won't need to upgrade too soon from this moving forward. If you'd rather go cheaper I can help with that as well.

u/TheFraser210 · 1 pointr/pcgamingtechsupport

I get what you are trying to say but its not actually that simple.

A lot of the cables only do HDMI in to DisplayPort out.

Even with cables that have one HDMI end and one DP end, although yes you can plug them in, they will not output a display. They only convert a signal from DP to HDMI, not HDMI to DP.

That is one of the many examples, the second picture makes it clear.

I am aware of one with a 256gb SSD and a 1050ti
It's the best for the price I can find

Acer Nitro5 Gaming Laptop PC, Intel 7th Generation Duo Core Core i5-7300HQ, NVIDIA GeForce Dedicated GTX 1050 Ti GDDR5 4GB VRAM, 15.6 inch Full HD 1080P, 8GB DDR4 Memory, 256GB SSD https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074Q54GSR/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_ZuG4Bb8XWY37J

u/smakkyoface · 1 pointr/pcgamingtechsupport

an HDMI switch would be a better option since its a 1:1 signal that just passes through the switch. If you absolutely have to use DisplayPort, then it depends on your resolution and refresh rate.

If you're just trying to run 1080p 60hz. A cheap active HDMI to Displayport cable will work.

https://www.amazon.com/DisplayPort-FOINNEX-Adapter-Computer-Monitor-Male/dp/B07G79WR3L/ref=sr_1_17?ie=UTF8&qid=1551059249&sr=8-17&keywords=active+hdmi+to+displayport+adapter

If you want 4k @60hz you'll spend a bit more.

https://www.amazon.com/SIIG-HDMI-DisplayPort-Converter-60Hz/dp/B07C39QBSF/ref=sr_1_18?ie=UTF8&qid=1551059413&sr=8-18&keywords=hdmi+2.0+to+displayport+1.4

There won't be much issue since you're on console, latency will be negligible. But obviously a 1:1 signal pass through is less latency than any conversion.

I bought a second hand HP Elite 8300 recently to use as a server at home. But then I realized it's better for gaming than my laptop. Plenty of room for upgrades. Here is a link to what I purchased on Amazon.

I us this, https://www.amazon.com/XPOWER-Airrow-Multi-Use-Electric-Computer/dp/B01BI4UQK0/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=pc+air+blower&qid=1556801185&s=gateway&sr=8-1 a much better alternative compressed air. Has several different attachements I use to clean my keyboard, controllers, and everything inside my PC

Granted I have a PS4 Pro so it uses an Optical Out, but I got my setup to work differently. I run audio cable from my PS4 to a converter box I got on Amazon then into my 'Line In' on my PC via a 3.5mm jack. This allows me to have both sounds at the same time and I can control the levels via my PC.

For the Slim you could use a HDMI audio extractor into a 3.5mm jack into your PC and get a similar result I think. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/J-Tech-Digital-Premium-Extractor-Converter/dp/B00BIQER0E

Yes you need an adapter for your wireless 360 controller. Just plug this into one of the USB ports on your steamlink and you should be good to go. I have the same setup at home.

This one is the only model on Amazon with BT support. You can also get this adapter to connect up to eight Xbone controllers of any type.

u/MaresDoOrgasm · 2 pointsr/pcgamingtechsupport

>Do they both work the moment they're plugged in?

The drivers are automatically installed once you plug them in, no 3rd party software is needed.

>Also, do they have wired versions of the controllers?

Xbox 360, yes. Xbox One, I don't believe so. The Xbox One controller has a micro USB port that works when plugged into a PC.

The Xbox 360 wireless controller doesn't work when plugged in to a PC, so if you go with an Xbox 360 controller, either grab a wired one or buy this with the wireless one.
