  • Can you put a link to get that LCD controller board? looks very useful.

  • The lcd brick doesnt get very hot? i know those WD black can get warm and to add more heat on the top doesn´t seem very good for the drive.

  • Also, look this mobo, another user used it in a nes build, with something like this you dont even need a regular psu

I did an acrylic side window recently myself, just ordered a 16" square off of Amazon for cheap and cut it to size with a hand saw. The tint on that one is pretty dark (exactly what I was going for) but they sell a few different finishes/thicknesses/sizes. Sturdy, tint looks fantastic, easy enough to cut with hand tools. Gonna post some pics once I get the lighting set up today.

RoLightic on Amazon. Comes in pretty big spool, giving you 32 feet of LEDs to work with. 12v power supply (as opposed to USB which I feel like those were the only ones I could find for awhile), has a neat controller for customization and changing speeds of effects and colors and all that. Really happy with it. Unfortunately seems to be out of stock on amazon right now though.

Could try https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LQAUIKA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_UUJ-zbKMSTEXH similar to what you showed

You're unlikely to find a good one because it's a bit of an odd item. Best bet could be to mill out a bit of a hub with a dremell or the like and put in your own switch, or 3d print a new case for the two, or just get separate ones that have a similar finish

Edit: or as other people have mentioned, you can get the whole front io panel of a case you like if it is detachable/available for retail or you can route it out of the entire front part of the case, I'm sure you can find something that looks nice this way too

Could take a sewing needle or something about the same thickness and punch them out..

Edit: Failing that these look like a good match, just check the sizes: https://www.amazon.com/MoKo-120240mm-Computer-Magnetic-Dustproof/dp/B07R4WWX4W

I've never painted something like this before but the thought I just had was some kind of putty on the bottom side that fills the holes. Like 3d masking tape. Paint the top then peel the bottom layer off and you should have really nice clean holes.

http://www.asus.com/Display/LCD_Monitors/VH162D/#specifications

Asus makes several 16inch monitors. None of the 19-20 inch monitors I found would fit in your case.

Here is another

http://www.amazon.com/16inch-16-1366x768-Resolution-Compatible/dp/B0056GA06C/ref=sr_1_15?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1335311578&sr=1-15

Keep in mind that these could be fairly shitty monitors. If your savy enough you could always get a 19inch that is close and mount it without a bezel.

I Would personally go with something like this.

http://divesales.com/cases/index.html
The bottom of the page list a bigger case

The Large (62300) is 19 by 13-3/8 by 7 inches.
Both have that same high density cubed foam inside.

So that would get you a good case that you could use. Now if you bought a PCI-E right angle adapter like this.

http://www.orbitmicro.com/global/pexp16-rx1-p-738.html

Then you could use an mini-ITX board and you should be able to fit a 19inch monitor in the case. its 7inches deep so if you found a 19inch monitor that was 2 inches thick that leaves you 5 inches for your video card and CPU heatsink. More than enough room without the PCI angle adapter.

Keep in mind that those cases interior are going to be about an inch smaller. And FYI pelican cases are WAY overpriced. I should know, we used the shit out of them in the military.

frozencpu.com ships from Rochester, NY. They are great.

Lutro0-Customs.com is also in the states (apparently in a merger at the moment but a new store will be open tomorrow) I learned the most from there and purchased a good Pin removal tool from them and quality sleeving. frozencpu also carries most of Lutro's products.

Amazon.com also carries the tools.

I know your in Canada but I hope this may still help you.

I think what you want is an Ergotron LX Mount but they're pretty pricey. HOWEVER, there are unbranded ones (branded by HP, but totally 100% ergotron) for almost half the price here. I have 3 of them and they support my giant Crossover 27Q. I can go from portrait to landscape just by grabbing the monitor and spinning it. I highly recommend them.

You also may want to check out some of the Monoprice offerings here for even less money. I had the dual one for around 60$, but it only moved side to side- not up and down.

Thanks for your help mate! I ended up getting a board from eBay which should come next week. I think I've got an idea how it might all fit together. Will this badly drawn diagram work?

The back panel on the motherboard will be hidden inside the case so aesthetics aren't (too) important, with that in mind can I simply use a headphone splitter to send the audio signal to the VU meters and HI-FI simultaneously?

Thanks again for all your help!

You will get better lighting and more settings like color changing with the led's you originally picked. They come with pre-installed adhesive and you can use this to power them 4-Pin Molex to 2.1mm DC Gridseed Power Plug https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00K53I1JY/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_UyyUub199RKQM It might not be as easy as the nxzt leds but you will get a much better affect with it. I have them in my h440 and they look great.

Here is my build. I used a pci express extender so i could flip the video card horizantal with the fans facing up. This is vital for airflow. Also i highly recomend the latice i used, its amazing for airflow, provides ample protection and isnt too hard to work with. Just make sure to seal it with something non conductive.

For mounting the motherboard to the case i used plastic motherboard risers and superglue. This didnt stick well but it isolate the motherboard from the case electrically.

Your case look good, im just looking to pu everything possible inside of my next project so i figured adding a keyboard in a slide out slot under might be sometthing to look into.

I would also look into using a laptop lcd instead of a dedicated monitor to save space and weight.

Fair enough! And you're right this would be sort of a project. well theres always the self adhesive led strips. they are silly simple to put in and since you dont have to worry about them being waterproof.... i hope.... it would work. also this kit has everything you need. In any case, Congratulations on the Baby Boy and good luck.

Friends don't let friends buy Thermaltake.

I don't know you, but as a fellow modder I'd offer the Phanteks Halo fan frame as an alternative that will let you use pretty much any fan you want with very similar (if not better) effects.

I made the SATA power cables, but the SATA data cables I bought off Amazon. Luckily, the 12 inch version was almost the perfect length for this case.

u/wolfcry0 · 1 pointr/pcmods

Your amazon link is mixed up I believe

I have 2 of these sets in my room, they work pretty well and are quite bright

Check these out: https://www.amazon.com/LEDwholesalers-Color-Changing-2034RGB-R2-3369-3208/dp/B0040FJ27S

You can power them from a standard 4 pin molex with a little soldering or crimping. They can also be cut to length.
